The Chosen's Legacy
The weight of a small gift

The weight of a small gift

Going deeper into the temple we've long past an common areas and are stopped by some guards, "Even if we know it is you Bishop you know the situation for everyone's safety here all who enter deeper must show system verification." Giving a quick nod and pulling up his system to show the guards they step aside and let him pass as he passes they move right back into place. Sister Lillian follows the procedures and shows them her system and once again the guards step aside."Now children this is a pretty important part you will be learning right here as well most important places in cities may require you to pull up your system and confirm that you are you and that you aren't a criminal. To pull up your system's to show these kind gentlemen just think to see your system in your head and it should be in front of you however, we can't see it yet so now you need to think of it as visible for others to see and you can choose what to show and what not. Some places may require just your name while some may require name and classes. Generally stats are kept secret as that is vital information and since most people have identify skills your main class is seen by all who identify you so if I were to identify sister Lillian it would show Priest for her class but her actual class may be something more specific than that and the guards will may show up as Paladins but could also be something different for the true class name."

Following the Bishops words James, Thomas, Erika, and I all think of the system and low and behold there it is in front of me and now I think for others to only see my name before making it visible. I try to picture a business card from back on Earth but with just my name on it. The guards give a confused look at what they are seeing and take a moment before letting me pass. We all continue deeper into the temple before stopping at a room near the end of the hallway, "Welcome to my office everyone, this is where we will be conducting the rest of our session today now normally we wouldn't be here but this is a well very special exemption." The Bishop opens the door and has us all enter first before closing it behind us and walking past us once more. Taking a quick look around there are some chairs set up in front of a delicately carved wooden table with the same symbols the Bishop has on his robe along the edges of the table. There are bookshelves on each side of wall next to the desk and a small table which appears to just be a coffee table but not sure if this world has coffee so not sure what they call it here in the center of the room with a couple more chairs surrounding that. Last thing I notice is the window behind the Bishop's desk that has a view of almost the whole city. I'm a little jealous of this office it looks like the Bishop has it real nice here.

The Bishop taking a seat at his desk and signaling for all us to take a seat too. "Now before we go any further let me clarify some more things for you all about what each stat represents, how they can affect you, and depending on how you distribute your stats what classes will be best for you to choose. Although with how young you all are you can generally choose any class you want but once you've committed and distribute for that class it is better to stick with it or similar ones. Onto the first stat, strength, strength will affect your raw physical power now you think me a old man wouldn't be so strong however," with one fluid motion the Bishop lifted his whole desk off the ground as if it weighed nothing, "A higher strength stat allows you to perform deeds like this even if you don't have the physical body that naturally can. Although mine isn't nearly as high as Max's it is still sufficient enough for someone that is a priest like myself and mainly relies on divine power and magic. Next up is dexterity, dexterity allows someone to be more fluid with movements and certain actions. I can't really demonstrate this for you but let's say a thief tried to break past those guards we say the guards are dexterous enough to move their body in ways that would allow their weapons to catch the moments of a speedy thief. Speaking of speed we will move onto that as it goes hand in hand with dexterity, speed is an essential skill for any ranger based class, scouts need it to move quickly to see an area first and cover large ground to make detailed reports to either their commanders or their parties, thieves use it for quick in and outs, assassins use it to strike fast like lighting and disapear in an instant, archers use it to keep distance between them and a would be threat. But with good speed a high dexterity is also needed and the same thing with dexterity there is a balance needed between the two stats someone with a speed stat too high and low dexterity may only be able to perform simple movements with an item while someone with a high dexterity and low speed could perform slow complex movements. So if someone keeps their stats within that balance between the two you can have someone attack at high speeds and be able to make movements that someone can't match gaining an upper hand in combat or performing very intricate work. Next stat is vitality, vitality affects your overall ability to take certain hits, higher your vitality the harder a hit you can take but a lower vitality means you need to be more cautious in just overall life as even an animal running at super high speeds and hitting you could be enough to put you out. Also vitality affects your lifespan by a little bit as it nurtures the body keeping it younger and healthier longer. Now onto the last two stats intelligence and wisdom, from their names you would think that they represent well your overall intelligence and wisdom however that is only partly the case they do boost it a little bit but it requires a lot of stats into them to see big changes. What they mainly affect is your magic!" Showing off a small display of low level all purpose magic for an added effect. "Intelligence mainly deals with how much power your magic attacks will have so think of it like a mages version of strength and then wisdom affects your able to control magic to be able to perform higher feats with it and have a better grasp of what you are using and manipulating it better. But like dexterity and speed these two also have a symbiotic relationship they work together to make a mages life easier. A mage with only high intelligence may struggle to use higher tier spells because he needs more time to get it under control to properly cast it and a mage with high control won't pack as much of a punch but can cast quicker. Well that should about sum it up for the general stats, mana isn't a stat you can directly upgrade it appears to be some combination of your intelligence and wisdom though. Also depending on either being a certain race or blessings from God's or any Divine Beast you will gain more affinity towards certain elements and those will affect classes you may receive as well. There are other stats out there as well but they are unique stats gained from unlocking certain classes or gaining certain accomplishments. The system watches everything very closely. Now any questions before we move onto getting you all some classes?"

I look over and see Erika and Thomas who clearly paid attention shake their heads no. Meanwhile, James is staring out the window and hasn't been listening since who knows when. He'll receive an earful from sister Lillian later once we get back for sure. But I raise my hand and ask a question, "Bishop with my stats the way that they are what should I do? They seem fairly balanced, oh and how strong am I exactly?"

"Good questions Max it is good you brought this up now as we were going to talk about it before you left. First you should do whatever you please I am in no position to tell a child of the very God's themselves what to do even if you aren't blessed by all you are still blessed by the major God's that influence this world. So I'm sure you will have an interesting choice of classes based off of what you are and the blessings you have. To answer your second question it is tough to say since like I said stats are generally kept a secret so I'm unsure of exactly how strong some nations powerhouse may be but if I were to take a guess I would say you currently would be a top powerhouse in a small sized nation, almost a powerhouse in a middle sized nation, and for the larger ones out there you would probably fall into being a leader of elite squads but not the top powerhouse as there should be at least a couple of other people more powerful than you. But once again this is only speculation as I can only assume what their stats must be like only top officials would have that kind of information so I'm sorry I can't give you a better answer and this is only counting humanity if we counted monsters as well then you would be horribly out classed by some monsters out there in the world. Hopefully that answers your questions."

"Yes it does, thank you." I'll need to gather more information from better sources then to see truly just how strong I am. The better grasp of this world I have the better I can protect myself and the others around me. The last thing I need is to cause problems for everyone at home because I overestimated myself.

"Now time to choose your classes for this you will be doing this through the system. Just think class up and your class list will be presented in front of you. Once you advance in classes the process becomes deeper and more rooted into your soul becoming more powerful as you move up in class tiers and becomes more complex than just a simple list like this one will be. During your first real class up you will be left temporarily unconscious and truly start to experience what it is like to class up but it will also leave your body vulnerable so make sure you are either with people that can protect you or somewhere safe. If you have any questions sister Lillian or I can be of assistance. Makes sure to take your time and choose wisely think deeply on the path you want to take and what you want to accomplish. Good luck."

Before I pull up the class list and see what options I have. What do I want to accomplish? What Is it that I should do? I already know that I've been brought here by the Gods all to give them some form of entertainment but I don't know what I'm supposed to do to accomplish that I can only make assumptions on what will be prepared for me to face so until that time arrives I'll just live as I please, see the wonders this world has to offer. But I still have a couple of years until I can do go out and explore or more correctly until sister Lillian would let me go out. So until then now is the time to make the most of Odin's blessing and acquire as much knowledge as I can before I head out. Alright enough stalling let's take a look at what options I have. I say the words "Class up" in my head and in front of me the class table appears.

Warrior Ranger Mage Priest Warlock Healer Guardian Explorer Bard Battle Mage Summoner Juggernaut Martial Artist Paladin Warden Saint Sentinel Chronomancer Gravity mage Space warrior Bringer of Chaos Dragon Warrior Star Warrior Storm Bringer Seeker of Knowledge Monkey Kings Disciple Cosmic Destroyer Ruler of Hell Master of the Seas Master of Death Great Gods Chosen One Above All

This looks like a color spectrum and if we go off of the electromagnetic spectrum then the lighter the color the more powerful a class will be. Which that appears to be the class since the last 12 appear very different than the first 20. Although some of the first 20 seem interesting especially those last 3 the ability to manipulate time, gravity, or space would be incredibly powerful at later levels and tiers of the class. But if I'm to prioritize immediate safety then the last 12 will help me more. I'm sure any of these will provide me with fantastic strength and the ability to survive. However, I feel like that last class is calling to me for some reason. I don't know if I get to look at the classes information before choosing. Man these are too many options I'm too indecisive for this why can't this be easier can't someone tell me about these classes.

That ended just as soon as it began I didn't even get to ask who that person was if it was a person or the system itself. But alright going off what I was just told they all in their own right are incredibly powerful and would complete what I hope to accomplish but if I would be stupid if I didn't pick the last one right? Like that's definitely just too good to pass up but it keeps pushing me down the invisible path I'm being guided down. Arrgghh damnit I hate this. I'll choose the damn class.

All the system notifications disappear and I look around at the others to see if they are done. I see James and Thomas being scolded by sister Lillian and Erika is sitting down reading one of the Bishops book.

"So how did your selection go Max, you took much longer than the others did so you must've had more choices to make. You don't have to tell me what you chose but I am curious as to what you've chosen?"

"I think I would like to not say what it is at least for now I'd like to get a better understanding of it first before I go around talking about it, if that makes any sense."

"Yes that does, well hopefully you all have a safe trip back. This has been a very unique experience to say the least but I'm glad to have experienced it. I wish you all well in your future endeavors and may the Gods bless you all with good fortune."

"Thank you for this Bishop I greatly appreciate it. I had no idea our house had such special children but that won't make me treat them any different. Now what do you all say to the Bishop before we head back home."

All of us in unison like it has been rehearsed before stand up straight and look at the Bishop, "Thank you very much and may the Gods bless you Bishop."

We head out and finally make our way back home after an eventful day and the start to the something greater.
