Chapter Seventeen
Nathaniel and the other adventurers stood at the edge of the water, looking in. Those wearing armour had taken it off, leaving just their normal clothes. The fire was smouldering, the staircase leading deeper into the secret chamber looked very unappealing. They looked into the water and saw a dark hallway.
William summoned a mage light orb and they stepped into the water one by one. Each taking a deep breath before walking further.
Soon they were swimming. They swam to the edge of the cavern and then one by one, they dove down, into the water. William’s magelight illuminated the dark water. They followed him. Those at the back had to swim in darkness, looking ahead at the blue lit hallway.
They swam for such a long time that Nathaniel thought about going back, but he pushed himself to go forward. Nate’s lungs were burning as he saw Will and Tanner rise up to the surface at the exit. He followed soon after.

They had arrived in a very different tomb to all of the others. They were standing inside of a church. The pews had been replaced by ornate mosaic tile work on the floor. There were tall columns holding up a beautifully painted ceiling. The floor was gold inlaid, and the mosaic depicted Asgrammor in various battles accross his life. A statue of Asgrammer made of pure gold, taller than all of the others in the entire dark mausoleum, stood in the centre. It was holding a massive gold sword in its hand.
The room didn't have any other chests, trinkets, or gold coins of any kind.
“Here we are, take your gold.” Barraud said as he pointed at the room.
Tanner looked at the sword and then looked at William. They both silently nodded and smiled.
William pulled a rope from his bag and threw it like a lasso over the statue’s head. He climbed up the rope and stood on the golden arm.
Tanner took off his wet shirt and took a shirt from a few of his men, he tossed them, one at a time to William, and he made a place to sit on the arm. He put his hands close to the gold arm and started melting it with a fiery blast.
A few hours later the statue’s forearm was halfway melted. Will was cutting it like it was a tree. Tanner and the others had been collecting the molten droplets and putting them into bags, as well as picking out the gold tiles from the floor artwork.
William needed another break because the arm was too hot, so he climbed up onto the shoulder to wait for it to cool and Tanner tossed him a health potion.
Nathaniel was picking at a golden tile on Asgrammor’s bicep with a dagger.
