A ship rode the waves of the north seas. It was a massive wooden vessel, with great white sails. Over one hundred men served on the vessel under the leadership of Captain Hammerstein. A feared and brutal man, his second-in-command smoked a cigarette in the doorway to the galley. A large amount of treasure, robbed from villages, other ships and dungeons field the ship’s hold. He admired the treasure and was happy while he smoked.
The captain was in his quarters, he was sleeping next to a small barrel of wine, that he was spooning. In the skies above the ocean, the lookout spotted a giant flying creature. The beast was red, it looked like a lizard with wings. A dragon.
He’d only ever heard of them in children’s tales.
“Dragon! We are under attack!” Shouted the lookout. The crew looked up and started to ring the bell to alert the sleeping men below decks.
The dragon, high above the water, smelled the vapour of clouds. It felt the sun shining on it’s scales and liked the warmth. It was sure that something shiny was close. He could smell it.
The pirates rang the bell and the Dragon could hear it. He saw the small boat below him in the water and recognised the familiar smell of gold.
The dragon dove towards the sound of the ringing bell. “I bet these guys are going to think I’m really handsome,” Thought the Dragon to himself.
The captain woke up and burst out of his doors. He looked into the sky and was quite upset to be woken from his nap. The second in command arrived next and pulled out his sword. He looked into the sky and both men’s jaws fell open.

The dragon was massive. It was easily larger than the boat. Some brave men started to fire cannons at will but they missed due to the Dragon’s height in the sky. The dragon dove headfirst into the ocean and went deep into the water. The dragon loved the feeling of the cool water on its body. It looked around at the giant squid, and schools of fish on the seafloor and then looked up at the surface. The ship bobbed on the surface. He started floating to the surface and paddled with its giant claws. It emerged next to the ship and treaded water, like a giant dog. Its long snake-like neck attacked like a whip and swallowed the Captain, and a large chunk of boat in one bite. The second in command jumped overboard and found a floating barrel.
Some men shot cannons at the dragon, and the cannonballs embedded in the flesh of the dragon, but it didn't seem to hurt it much.
Its massive wings unfurled and it started gaining altitude. It then flew over the ship and snapped the mast, it grabbed the ship in it’s front left arm, like a bird holding a stick and started to fly, The ship groaned and creaked, but the dragon knew that these floating monsters had gold inside their bellies, so he would wait until he was home before he spilled the guts of the creature he was holding. The cannons kept firing from the boat, but the men inside the vessel had no idea what to do. Some of the men jumped from the boat to their deaths.
The dragon flew north, to the volcanic crevasse it came from. It took in a deep lungful of fresh air and then descended in a sharp dive into the dark cavern. The pirates were screaming.
