Arriving back home I feel quite refreshed, happily sated for the time being.
Running back down stairs to the computer, I shake the mouse to turn back on my screen.
"That's odd," I frown "Seems the computer froze." Hoping for a quick fix I spam Ctrl Alt Del, Alt Tab and Home a few times but to no avail. Annoyed I decide to go ahead and reboot it.
Or at least was before text started spamming down my screen. Nothing intelligible at first, but a long line of symbols. Confused as this had never happened before I just stared pondering what to do and what was going on. Didn't seem like I was being hacked and I know that trying to disconnect the power probably isn't going to help anything either so I just wait.
A few minutes later it stops, seems to suck its self into the middle of the block of it all like its going down a drain. As it was slowing down, I notice letters that weren't pulled along with the rest. Finished disappearing they just sit there for a moment, before flying about rearranging before stopping. Showing the first actually readable thing I'd seen sense it started.
"Interesting, of all those I decided to monitor you were the only one who even had a plausible wish."
What? I don't understand, I didn't actually post anything, right?
Yup, definitely didn't. In fact, did I even write down what my wish was? Once again frowning I bring my attention back to the screen. Once again the letters seem to rearrange them selves, splitting and morphing to fit the needs of the cause of this all.
"You probably didn't pay much attention to the first post, I did ask for everyone to share their thoughts with me but everyone decided to spam the thread. All but you that is, you did share your thoughts and even have a most interesting concept."
Bewildered and a bit awed at what I was seeing I continued to stare at the screen.
"I'm willing to give you this, this ability so to speak. You managed to intrigue me and I look forward to seeing how you will utilize it. I noticed one of your ideas was to level this and I couldn't agree more. So by entering different books you will upgrade the things you can do with it. I am sure you will be most pleased with whats in store and that it will give you 'something to do' as you so voraciously wanted. Enjoy!"
Confused about how I am even supposed to know if it worked I once again am caught unawares as 'like hes reading my mind' that is addressed.
"Oh, sorry need your consent, just press the 'Confirm' button. No, this isn't you signing away your soul by the way."
*CONFIRM*
Trying to use my mouse I notice I the lack of a cursor, fumbling for a moment with it I try a few different things like hitting enter on my keyboard.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Figuring I've got nothing to loose I hover my finger over the confirm button on the screen. Pressing down I am rather surprised that it seems to push in.
Hearing a *Ding* sound coming form every where at once, I look around in confusion.
All the sudden my head feels like it's splitting open, Screaming out but not hearing a voice my chair falls out from under me and I fall to the floor convulsing.
Feeling tremors from the ground under me I look up, Straining to see the cause. Taking note of my sister rushing over to see if I was okay.
".... .... ........" I see her shouting at me, face full of concern but nothing reaches me.
Opening my mouth to say something all that comes out is a muffled gurgle before I black out.
Feeling a freezing but oddly comforting chill I open my eyes to an endless darkness. The the odd part about it was that it didn't seem 'dark' so to say, Just void of light? Oddly, even though nothing is there it almost seems like just at the corner of my eye there is something hidden.
"Wait! The corner of my eye, people always think they see something but its not really there... Maybe it is! We just dismiss it as not being there!
Hmm, concentrating on seeing beyond what I thought to be true, the area I was in slowly started coming into focus.
Closing my eyes, holding onto the image I had almost grasped I open my eyes to a throne room of ice.
"Congratulations! So I was right to give you this. You got passed your societies handicaps and allowed the world as it really is to be seen."
Turning around I see a being sitting upon a block of ice. As he shifts so to does the ice below him, as though it moved to his every beck and call. Even as I look on him he shifts to that of a woman, ever changing between different forms. Sifting through the knowledge of the different deities I know of I can't help but show confusion on my face.
"I'm sorry, but might I ask who you are? I am aware of a few pantheons but none that I can think of that have to do with the shifting personas." I ask
"Simon Grace, I am known by many names but none know my original one. Your world see's me Hod, Khione, Boreas. Those are only a few names. But I am all and with every new denomination so to is a new face I take on. But that is beside the point." The deity admits. "Now then, you not only amused me with your thoughts and even can see me. As I said I will give you what you want. When you wake, your adventure will begin. Have fun!"
At the finish of his sentence the world blurred, then went dark.
