RR - 2

Opening my eyes I find my self once again in a throne room of sorts. except, this one looking more like something similar to a courtroom then anything else.

Looking around it seems as though everything is placed in a manner that looks like its supposed to be there. While observing the room I hear whispers all around me, carried to me on the wind. But nothing is there and either detect presence is too low level or there really is nothing to be found. I don't think that True Sight would have given me a clue of their origins.Turning to the only being other then my self in the room I lay my eyes on a beautiful woman sitting where a judge might. She has a little past shoulder length blond hair, with her bangs pulled to the sides and tied down in back. Her golden hued eyes contrast well with her pale skin. The only thing ruining the picture of perfection being her facial expression. Looking at me as though I was a pest.

"Your very existence changes everything you come in contact with, you are an anomaly that shouldn't exist and yet you do. the only reason I haven't wiped your very existence off this plane being that most events you have and will change are for the better. That and your presence is but a foot note in comparison to other forces that shouldn't be here."

thinking on how to respond I can't help but go ahead with something just as equally high on my horse as she was.

"I don't think that is the only reason you haven't as you put it, 'wiped my very existence away'. You know I am backed by a god, well not just a god so to say.. More like the embodiment of cold. You must feel dwarfed in his presence. Not to say that you couldn't dispose of me as if it's nothing but more like that you really don't want to make an enemy of someone such as him. Your attitude is quite rude, you are looking down on me as though I am nothing and that is not okay. I'm not mentioning this to anger you, okay well maybe a teensy bit. But because you had no reason to act out the way you did."

Folding my arms and giving a curt nod I wait for her response.

looking at me full of astonishment, she just stares at me. Hopefully that will bring here down a notch, although I am a bit worried I broke her. I doubt she's ever been reprimanded before, especially by a mortal. But I mean, she is supposed to be all social order and stuff.

"well, I do suppose i was a bit harsh.. " Themis say a bit slowly. " I could have worded that better, It's just been so long sense I last held any sort of counsel,  Us gods have an pretty set in stone rule to not involve mortals in our business so I go a bit excited is all. It gets so lonely.." She continues looking ashamed and downtrodden.

Giving her a moment to feel bad I decide there's been enough negative thoughts, and decide to try to cheer her up. ( Wow didn't expect to be the one in this role)

"Themis, once we're done here you could come with me if you want. Well.. I mean not full sized, but maybe as a pet. not as an actually pet that is but a companion just the size of a pet and... " Well this is awkward, lets try this again. "What I am saying is that I can't have a woman following me around, but I could do a fairy sized companion. Now then, if you wanted to be a pet that's fine too and all. Just that well yah..." Looking up ashamed at how horribly I went about that I see Themis with tears in her eyes and smiling showing  how over joyed she is. Nodding at the same time.

I just convinced a goddess to become my pet (sorta)

With a Poof Themis disappears and I find my self face to face to a miniaturized Goddess. Still beaming she rushes me and half hug half sticks to my chest.

Well, this'll be interesting

"Hi Themis, Shall we get going? Oh I forgot to ask, was I supposed to do anything else here?"

Still stuck to me I hear a muffled voice come through my shirt. Angered at not being about to keep to me like glue and still talk her face turns red as she pulls away.

"Nope, I hadn't any other reason for summoning you. I guess we should get going. Any door will take you out when you are ready to leave."

"Alright, And there's nothing here you want to take with you?"

Shaking her head no she goes back to sticking to my chest.

Alrighty then, wow... What a day. Turning around I walk up stairs to the door, as I open it I find my self standing in the starter area in the Citadel of Serabourg.

'Well, figured this'd be where I end up. lets make a check list. Training hall is a must, I'd like to get leather working , blacksmithing and a few other trade skills while I'm here as well. Hmm, Then there is the profession that I'll have to choose as well. Too much to do!!' Heading in the direction of the Black Smith, wait where is that.. looking around I see a bulletin board with just a map on it. Huh, the other tips must have been added by users I comment while looking at it. Running my finger along for a moment I find what I am looking for and start heading that way. While walking I grab the tiny goddess and set her on my shoulder.

"You said you wanted to accompany me by become a permanent accessory. Come on lets go."

Face scrunched up in determination she nods.

Oh that was just too cute, I might have some issues with this later on. At least she isn't fluffy or anything, or it might get even worse. Glad she didn't change her figure, just got smaller.

Walking into the smithy I am greeted with a slightly smoky atmosphere.

"Good day friend, I'm Craig and this is my Smithy. how may I help you?"

"Hello Craig, I'm Simon. The little on my shoulder is Themis, I wanted to take up BlackSmithing, I've always thought it to be a admirable thing to learn I just hadn't had the chance to learn before. I know the difference between a mass-produced blade and one custom made to your needs. Could you help me?"

"Well Simon, normally I'd say no and send you on your way but I have yet to take on an apprentice so far. If you are willing to work under me for a few weeks I think that by the time you leave you'll be in perfect shape. Ya do know that you have to learn repair first though, I can teach you that. But you'll have to get it to Intermediate first."

Quest

Craig the blacksmith agreed to take you as his apprentice for a two week period.

During that time you will get 'Repair' to intermediate and learn the basics of blacksmithing.

You will work in his shop from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in-game time.

Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.

Maintaining high favor will change how your quest will progress.

If by the end of the 2 weeks you don't have at least black smithing intermediate level 5 you will fail.

You can work extra hours to increase your favor and skill level but it is up to you on what you do.

If you can't make it on a certain day make sure to make up for your time missed!

"I'd appreciate that Craig, I will say this now though. I am doing this so I can make my own weapons and armor that I acquire on my own. So I don't plan on making my main profession BlackSmithing. I do hope that you'll still take me under your wing."

Quest accepted

"Well, come on back and we'll get you started on learning repair. It's really rather simple, here I'll show you and you just repeat what I do." Taking in his hands a beat up short sword and a hammer he says "Repair" before hitting the sword a few times. Each time the damage just disappearing. "here, this is a beginners black smith hammer." pointing at a pile he continues " see those swords, go ahead and work on those. I'll watch ya until you get the skill."

Taking the hammer, I walk over to the pile and start rummaging through paying attention to each sword to see which one has the worst damage. after a while I finally start getting panels telling me the name and durability.

You've learned the Skill Identify

Short SwordType:IronDurability:2 / 9Quality:Crudecrudely made iron short sword created from low quality iron

Damage 1-5

Short SwordType:IronDurability:4 / 15Quality:poorpoorly made iron short sword created from low quality iron

Damage 3-8

Taking the crudely made short sword I place it on the anvil and say repair before hit it a few times like how the black smith showed me. Other than the first hit which I missed each time struck with a satisfying ping following with a system message saying +1 durability after seven hits. Except for when I got it to 7/9 I got a -1, hitting it again it went back up sadly the max durability dropped a point.

You have obtained the skill Repair

two hours later Craig comes back in to look at my progress, noticing a now sizable dent in the pile and the rising stack next to me he clapped me on the back, disturbing Themis slightly who was still on my shoulder.

"Hey lad, We'll make a fine black smith out of you yet. How bout a bit of food before you start back up?"

Looking down at my progress, then towards my hands which had blisters all along them I'm a little surprised. I guess I just kinda went into a trance, didn't even notice that once again my stamina dropped to 0 and my satiety at an all time low." Weakly nodding my agreement I shakily head over to a close by table and sit down.

"Here we go." Placing a bowl of soup down and a piece of bread." You look like you made a fine bit o' progress. Wasn't expecting you to work non stop for the full hour though. You look like you can hardly stand. I came in 30 minutes ago but you seemed so concentrated on what you were doing I didn't want to stop you. Next few hours should be a bit easier. Considering you've got the hang of it I see." Taking the bowl I just finished he heads back to the front to attend to anyone that comes in.

Resting for another good 10 minutes, I get up and head back to the anvil.

While starting on the next batch I do a bit of math on what I'd finished up so far. It takes a minute and a half for each point I work on. I tried to speed it up but it just dropped the durability. Considering I had to repair on average of 6 points per sword each one took 9 minutes. I worked nonstop and an hour in I was able to speed it up to a minute per afterwards. I worked on 7 swords making 630 exp. Hour after that I worked on another 10 making 900 more exp. Probably should check out how many notices i have pilled up. Notice Log

Looking to the pile I see an additional 14. "Yup, just finished the 14th."
