Chapter 14

Mirawadee brought the young man to dinner at her favorite restaurant as a thank you, which is near to the condo where she had previously lived. She likes to eat regularly after work. The atmosphere of the restaurant can’t compare with expensive luxury restaurants, but the taste of the food is equally delicious. People and salaried employees also like to eat here after work or takeout.

“Enjoy your meal!”

“Thank you,”

“Oh! Have you changed into your new girlfriend? He is handsome.”

Mirawadee hurriedly shook her head and was opening her mouth to say no, but…

“Yes, I and she, we just started dating.”

“The lad seems to be good. So, let’s give you a lot of rice.”

Rachata smiled, and soon a large plate of food was placed in front of him. He had a helpless expression because he had never come out to eat on the streets once.

“What’s wrong?” Mirawadee asks, smiling at his expression. It looks like he probably never came to eat at the street food stalls. “You let me be your host.”

The young man had a troubled expression on his face. His hand reached for the spoon and fork and placed them on the plate. Put a plate of food in front of him.

“You don’t like it?”

“Hmm,” he nodded in response.

Mirawadee smiles, “But I like it.”

Rachata agrees to scoop food into his mouth. The taste is not so bad that it can’t be eaten.

Mirawadee put food in her mouth and glanced at the young man trying to eat. For a moment, a questioning thought was born, so she asks.

“How do you know where I am? It was like it wasn’t a coincidence.”

This wasn’t the first time he had been saved. But every time he encountered danger, it was as if he knew what she was doing and where she was.

Rachata looks at her with calm eyes.

“I got here by accident.”

Mirawadee did not dare to ask further because she was afraid that there would be more questions that could not be answered.

“Are you afraid of me?” he asked. Sharp eyes stared at her confused eyes.

“No, I was just wondering.”

“Well, because we are getting married. I don’t want you to doubt.”

Mirawadee was silent. That’s not a gentle word. Or intimidating, but to say the more suspected, the more unsafe. I don’t know whether ‘assent’ to get married to get away from unpaid debts is the right idea or not. The more I look, I can’t see the word a little of love expressed.

“Are you sure you want to marry me?”

Rachata nods.

“Why?”

Mirawadee waits for an answer. If you say you love or like the look in his eyes, but the indifferent tone is not true at all. No matter how you look, you know you don’t love her in the slightest. So, what’s the reason for marrying her?, Even though there were more women who would make him a showpiece.

Rachata put the cutlery away and was silent for a moment.

“You don’t have to ask why. What you need to know is that I can protect you. That’s enough.”

“Uh,” Mirawadee was about to say, but the young man got up to pay the bill and left the shop immediately. Seeing this, she hurried up and followed him, even though she was not full.

The young woman followed quickly until she reached the parking lot. Round eyes glared at him without asking. Of course, there are questions she wants to know the answers to, but she thinks that if we must get married one day, we will get answers that clear up our doubts.

Rachata looked at her with still eyes and forced a polite smile at the girl before opening the car door and taking a seat.

Mirawadee let out a breath and opened the door of the side to sit up.

Throughout the distance, both remained silent until they reached the condo. It’s because of the status that I don’t know what to say, or I don’t have a sweet feeling. Even she felt the urge to step over it. Not out of fear of falling in love, but because he was silent, cold, and sometimes warm and unpredictable.

“Ah, thank you very much for today.”

Mirawadee thanks him as she walks into her room.

“I’m glad,” he replied as he turned around, preparing to walk back into the room.

“Are you sure you want to marry me?”

The young man was silent for a moment. Then he turned around and walked towards Mirawadee, smiling.

On his face, and a deep voice spoke out.

“Are you not sure, I can protect you?”

Her eyes rolled back and forth, looking confused and thoughtful. That was not the answer she wanted. “No.”

“So, you don’t think too much,” he smiles.

Mirawadee nodded in response before spinning around and walking back into her room.

Rachata looked at the closed door and let out a sigh. His fists clenched in agitation. The power gained after the symbol appeared, it’s there to protect her. Even before that, he lived like a normal human being until he met her. Why is it necessary to protect the life of the person who caused him such torture? Or to make him love her. No, he couldn’t love the woman who had caused him so much pain for hundreds of years.

“Love is not a curse,” Apo said as he appears.

“Love is a curse,” the young man said in a cool tone. “You know I never believed in love.”

Apo looks at him as he sighs and continues to speak. The young man walks into his room. It is not known whether Rachata knew that the immortality he had gained resulted from sacrificing the life of a woman he loved with all his heart. But he thought it was a curse that made him watch loved ones and those around them die repeatedly.

“You’re the one who sees love as a curse.”
