The Blighted Oath
The Origin (1)

The Origin (1)

Wip watched in amazement as Maddie demonstrated her incredible abilities, cutting through the fabric of reality itself and inhabiting a space within the dimensional crack. It was a power that left him utterly astonished, but he knew that now was not the time to dwell on it. Maddie's anger was substantial, and he understood that he needed to calm her down before explaining the intricacies of the tournament system.

“Talk. Spill everything I need to know about this fucked up system.” Maddie roared in anger and disappointment.

"Please, Master," Wip implored, his voice steady but filled with concern, "I need you to calm down. Your power is overwhelming, and we need a clear mind to discuss this matter."

Maddie took a deep breath, her energy slowly retracting as she regained control over her emotions. Gradually, the furious aura that surrounded her began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of calm.

Once Maddie had composed herself, Wip began to narrate the events that had led to the creation of the tournament. He spoke with a measured tone, making sure to provide all the necessary details.

"As you know, the mighty being faced a dilemma," Wip began. "The constant conflicts and struggles among the races were tearing the world apart. He wanted to find a way to bring balance and unity among the races, to prevent any one of them from becoming too powerful or oppressed. And so, he devised the tournament as a means to achieve this."

Maddie's beautiful face wore a perplexed expression as she listened to the birdbrain's seemingly nonsensical chatter. It was clear that she was struggling to make sense of Wip's explanation. The birdbrain's mention of bringing balance and unity among the races appeared to conflict with the common understanding of the tournament's purpose, which was typically seen as a competition to determine the rightful leaders of each race and the ruler of the realm.

Maddie might have been thinking along the lines of the traditional view of the tournament, where victory in the competition would grant one race or individual supremacy over the others. The idea of unity and balance among the races might have sounded unusual or even contradictory in that context.

"We are currently in the first phase of the tournament. This is when the representative of each race gets to be acknowledged."

Wip continued, explaining the key elements of the tournament system, including the team composition, challenge variety, and the restrictions placed on the wish granted to the winning team. He emphasized how the tournament was designed to provide equal opportunities for all races, ensuring that no one could exploit their inherent advantages.

"As it stands," Wip concluded, "the tournament serves as a mechanism to maintain harmony and balance in our world. It allows each race to participate and potentially influence the course of events, but it also prevents any one race from gaining unchecked dominance. Now, due to your impulsive actions, Master, you no longer have the opportunity to participate and make a difference in this delicate balance." Wip looked at Maddie with a mix of admiration and concern.

Wip's eyes bore into Maddie's, emphasizing the gravity of his words. "The wish granted to the winning team is not just a reward; it is a test of character and responsibility. The Mighty Being is watching, and he is searching for those who will use their power wisely and selflessly, those who can be entrusted with the fate of our world."

Wip then started to narrate what transpired in the past the brought about the foundation of the tournament.

"Originally, the world was home to the demon race and the angels lived in the heavens with the Mighty Being. However, when humans were created by the mighty being and placed within the Demon Realm, the act sowed the seeds of conflict. Sharing their realm with these mortal beings infuriated the demons, who, rather than coexisting, subjected the humans to relentless harassment due to their perceived weakness. To protect the humans from their tormentors, the mighty being dispatched a formidable army of angels to quell the demons and restore order. After a fierce battle, the angels prevailed, and peace was briefly restored. However, this peace birthed a new challenge.--- the impures' birth."
