Logi Finnigan pushed open his office door and walked to his desk, sitting down, Logi turned his computer on and logged into his calendar application noting the three meetings he had that day before turning to his various projects. Logi was the CCO of a mid-sized law firm, and as such was often very busy. Logi was a charismatic man, he was tall standing at 6’4 (195 cm), with silky black hair and calculating onyx black eyes. Logi’s lean frame looked too big for his desk as he typed away at emails and progress reports. Before he knew it it was time for his first meeting of the day.
This meeting was going to be a rough one, Logi could already tell. He had to meet with one of the lawyers about impropriety with clients, and this was the man's second offense. The only reason they hadn’t fired the man the first time was the fact that he had an excellent track record of closing cases decisively.
Walking into the private meeting room, nicknamed the guillotine for its use as the primary room people were fired in, he sat down and waited for the employee to arrive. The man was visibly nervous when he entered the meeting room to find Logi sitting there with his hands steepled
“Ah… Mr Finnigan, if I may ask what was this meeting called for?” the employee questioned.
“Well Mr Drewy, I was going to ask you something along those same lines; why do you think you were called here?” Came Logi’s smooth voice
“Umm, I’m not sure what you're talking about Mr Finnigan.”
“Let's cut to the chase John, you slept with a client. Honestly, what were you thinking Joh-” Logi was cut off by John's nervous voice
“W- what? I have n- no idea what you’re talking about Mr Finnigan! Which client told you that? They were lying you gotta believe me!”
“Mr Drewy. Please do not cut me off again. None of your clients told us, not directly at least. You’ve gotten a lot better at hiding these since the last time you were caught. No your main fault was twofold. For one you forgot to give your partner an email other than your work email” The company could monitor all emails sent to accounts under their company. “And your second fault,” Logi reached into a bag to his side and pulled out a manila folder and began to pull out a picture “was not using protection.” The picture in Logi’s hands was an image of a pregnancy test, showing positive.

“Now I don’t feel I need to clarify that you are fired, as that much should be obvious, but I do feel the need to tell you that your wife will probably be very unhappy when you get home. You have until tomorrow to clean out your office, and you will not be permitted to be hired by this company in any facet in the future. I’m sorry John but you brought this upon yourself.” Logi finished and walked out of the room, eyes cold and hard, as John Drewy seemed to be struggling to comprehend his world being turned on its head.

Logi sighed as he settled down onto his couch at home, today had been long and annoying. Logi pulled a cigarette out of his pocket along with a lighter. Flicking the lighter open Logi stared at the fire an instant longer than was probably appropriate, then lighting the cigarette and taking a long draw.
Logi stood, deciding he needed to take a walk. There was a park just a block or two away from his house, it was a nice neighborhood with little to no crime, so he doubted it would be dangerous. Briskly walking to the door cigarette still in hand, he walked down his lawn and towards the park.
Logi passed the gateway to the park and began to walk down a path at random, it was sunset at the moment so he had at most an hour before he had to get back home. Logi stared at the sky painted gold purple and pink. Sitting down on a bench he threw his cigarette into the nearby trash can before turning back to the sunset, not noticing the trashcan was beginning to smolder, he had forgotten to put out his cigarette before throwing it way
Logi only noticed the trash can was on fire after the first tongue of flame licked over the edge of the trashcan “Shit!” Logi cursed
Looking around for something to put the trashcan fire out with Logi was quickly distracted by the fire itself, his black eyes seemingly to glow orange in the reflected light of the fire. His eyes were dilated, his nose flared and seemingly entranced. Logi sat on the bench staring at the fire for 15 long minutes until it snuffed itself out. Only then did the man realize that the sun had fully set and only the remnants of its light remained in the sky.
Feeling his heart beat in his chest Logi flicked open his lighter and sparked it, just looking at it on his way home. He snapped it shut as entered his house and sat on his couch, just looking at his hand as he remembered the way the fire had snapped and crackled, dancing as if to an invisible tune, laughing at a joke he couldn’t even comprehend. The heat on his face like a warm hug, the smell of smoke bringing a smile to his face, as it always had.
For some reason Logi Finnegin wanted to see that fire again, watch it consume, watch as it danced and flickered, dance with it, be it. Feel that warmth again. He needed to feel that warmth again, ‘bigger this time’ something seemed to whisper to him. ‘Make it bigger, Make it hotter, feed it’ the voice chanted, and Logi wanted to listen.
