Author’s note: I may come back to this later and re-do it. It feel’s kinda clunky and forced. Give me your opinions on it, if you will.
“I hereby name thee…!”
The god said in an exaggerated voice.
“…Azad!”
‘George looks pleased with his naming choice, and I had to agree that I liked the name. Just felt like a good name, felt nice to say too.’
No sooner had I finished this thought, did I feel an unbearable pressure press down on me from all directions. If I wasn’t still floating, I would have fallen onto my hands and knees from the force of it. The pressure lasted a couple of seconds before the sensation began to change. It now felt as if something was wriggling its way into me, straight for my heart. This brought on excruciating pain, like my heart was being stretched for something large to fit into it.
After groaning and spinning for a good 10 minutes, the pain slowly stopped. I took a few extra minutes to catch my breath and regain what energy I could. After I had done this, I looked at the god and glared at him.
“What did you do!?”
“I’ve made you my champion!” The god said this with a wide smile on his face.
“What does that mean?”
“It means that you represent me, in the mortal realm at least.”
I just floated there for a bit to think about what to ask next, as I had already calmed down for whatever reason.
‘Being this calm is actually kind of creepy in its own way.’
After thinking of a few questions I started to ask George.
“So what does a champion do exactly?”
“They are supposed to go around and spread the belief of their gods.”
“And what would your belief be?”
The god changed his wide smile to a business one.
“Let me formally introduce myself to you! I am George, the god of freedom and enjoyment. I believe in doing what one wants, when one feels. As this is something hard to convince people to do, I will not ask such a thing of you. Instead, I ask that you do so yourself and enjoy your new life! But, if you happen to come across someone taking away others freedom and enjoyment, I will ask you to deal with them.”
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The last part was said eerily. Obviously George felt great hatred for those who do such things.
“So I’m just to live my life, and stop people from taking others freedom and enjoyment?”
“Exactly!”
“Ok, I will do my best. Also, you never explained how I became your champion.”
The god went back to his wide smile, which made him far less mature than he apparently was.
“Oh right, sorry. The way it works is the person who names you gives you a bit of their power. This is why, with large families you will see that most of them have the same element of magic. Unless of course, someone who has a different element of magic names the child. Usually though, both the parents have the same element.”
“Magic? There’s magic?”
“Yes, magic.”
“Will I be able to use it?”
“I don’t see why not; I’ve given you a tiny bit of my power after all.”
“Only a tiny bit? Why not more?”
“Because I’m a god. If I gave you anymore than I did, you would probably die! You won’t even be able to control what I’ve given you properly.”
“Why can’t I use it properly?”
“Your body needs time to synchronize with the power. The process usually takes 10 years. For you though, I will give you a gift that will make it so you can use the power, but only a small amount. I gave you quite a lot and if you don’t this process slowly, you could die and explode.”
Hearing that, I decided to never over use my powers, as I didn’t feel like blowing up. Blowing up seems like something unpleasant to experience, so let’s not do that.
“Anyways, were out of time so you need to be going Azad. Talk to you later,” George said before swishing his hand as if shooing me away.
“Wait, what about my-“
Before I finished my sentence, I blacked out.
