Legend has it there are numerous devices of strange and unimaginably potent power. These devices are thought to have been created by an ancient race of beings that can only be thought of as gods compared to us mere mortals. The differences between us are so astounding that we cannot even comprehend their shape, let alone what they are and what motivates them. That said, due to the oddly spherical motif many of their creations share, we can make an assumption that when perceived in three dimensions they were likely spherical themselves.
But I digress. One such Device is simply known as the atlas, a device that gives power to the wielder while allowing travel through the multiverse. The nature of this power is unknown at best, and a complete mystery that seems to be able to circumvent the apparent laws of physics. Fortunately, how the device allows travel is reasonably simple to conceptualise, in that the device seems to act as an anchor for a pocket universe. How this works exactly is still unknown, but it is thought that the pocket universe is superimposed in the background of the universe where the anchor is located. This allows the wielder to essentially shift themselves between universes, and once inside the pocket universe it can be controlled to latch on to another universe.

With an Archive Fragment, another of these Devices, I will follow the journey of the Atlas as it finds itself in the possession of a relatively young man. This is done in the hopes of learning more about the multiverse and documenting how the atlas seems to work such that a simplified version may be produced allowing travel between universes.
That’s the hope anyway.
