Dean stared at her in total disbelief. Her own father had cut her face to hell. And he thought his dad was harsh.
Oi! Keep your eyes on the road idjit! Iri snapped at him.
Dean turned back to the road.
Sorry I asked, he muttered.
He saw Iri shrug out of the corner of his eye but wince at the action.
Why didn’t you use the potion that you put on your sister’s palm on your shoulder? He asked.
Because I wasn’t cut by an athame, she answered.
A witch’s blade? That made no sense.
I thought you two weren’t witches, he grumbled.
We’re not. We’re druids.
What?
Think Merlin.
Merlin?
Now Dean was thoroughly confused. Iri sighed next to him. Yet, she didn’t go into more detail on the subject.
An uneasy silence descended around them. It seemed like neither of them felt like talking. So, Dean turned up the music once again and began to sing along to the song that was playing. Iri was lost in her own world so she ignored him. They continued this way for the entire 3 hour drive to the bunker.
Hey we’re here, Dean told the girl beside him.
Iri shook her head like she was trying to clear it. She scrubbed her face with her hands, flinching when the movement tugged on the gash in her shoulder.
Shit, she hissed through clenched teeth.
She put her hand to the wound and sighed.
Now Nii-chan is really gonna kill me, she muttered.
Everything ok? He asked opening his door.
I split more stitches, she grumbled.
Dean shook his head and climbed out.
This girl is harder on stitches than I am, he thought with a chuckle.
He was about to offer Sam’s sewing skills when her phone rang.
Da? She answered.
Dean couldn’t hear the other side of the conversation this time so he wasn’t sure exactly what was going on.
Yeah Niall, I’m fine. She groaned. Mac doesn’t have a scratch on her. You know Uncle Rom would kill me if I brought her back beat up.
Dean shook his head. Sounded like her family was more messed up than his.
Nii-Chan! She whined. I’m not...I didn’t...why would you say that? Nii-chan stop. Don’t...please...just...no.
She was stuttering and gasping for breath. He made his way to her side.
Hey you ok? He asked quietly.
Iri waved him off.
Nii...chan. Don’t...please don’t send him. I’m..we’re fine. We don’t need help.
There was a long pause.
N-no. I just...I can’t...just no. Danny isn’t right. Laochlain has him under his spell. Don’t even try. NO!
The volume and the force with which she said that one word startled him.
I-I can’t... I can’t do this. Not with him. N-no don’t send him either. Please send me Jamie.
Sam and Mac chose that moment to walk up. Mac saw the look on her sister’s face and immediately snatched the phone from her hand. She began yelling at the person on the other end of the line in what sounded like a mix of Russian and German. Sam looked to him but he merely shrugged his shoulders in reply. His gaze remained on Iri, whose form was now crumpled next to his car. Her face was devoid of any emotion and that alone scared Dean for some reason.
Hey it’s ok, he told her kneeling at her side.
She jumped at his voice and when her eyes found his, he saw the terror in them.
He’s coming, she whispered in an eerie voice. She looked to her sister. Whatever happens next, Mac, you run.
Mac paused her angry German/Russian tirade to look at her sister. Fear was evident in her eyes.
I’m not running from him anymore, Iri, she snapped before going back to her tirade.
I’m flattered by your bravery, my dear, but your eyes betray you, a deep, gravelly voice laughed from beside him. He looked at Iri in utter shock. You’re terrified of me.
