Sin stared at the now limp man in his arms. Blood coated Danny’s arms. Sin held him tighter as tears began to slip down his cheeks.
I don’t believe it! The younger of the two men in the room exclaimed.
What? The older man asked.
The younger man turned to him.
Danny’s taking Iri and Jamie’s pain, he said in bewilderment. I don’t understand. I thought only Iri could take our pain.
He’s taken the injuries, Niall. The older man pointed out.
Fuck! Niall cursed in Greek, causing Sin to look up in surprise.
Niall, who must be Danny’s brother, went to haul him into his arms so he could put him on the cot. But Sin growled at him ferally and pulled Danny into his lap.
You’re the one he knotted, the older man murmured.
Sin gave a single nod.
I knotted him and he knotted me, Sin told them.
I don’t fucking care about that! Niall snapped. I need to treat his arms!
Niall, you can’t touch Danny without his consent now, the older man said.
Uncle Rom, unless I get him on the cot and take care of his arms he’ll bleed out!
Please, Sin’ voice was quiet. I can’t lose him.
You do realize that I have to do a full exam of the both of you since you’re kinda bound to each other? Niall asked him. It’s also very possible that both of you are pregnant now that you’ve knotted.
The possibility of that is much lower for me than it is for him, Sin whispered.
Why is that? The older man asked.
Because my modifications took longer to take root and they said it might not have taken root properly, Sin answered quietly.
Regardless, I must examine both of you and confirm it. But first I must tend to my brother. Will you let me do that?
Sin nodded then rose and placed Danny on the cot. He moved to one side but didn’t release the hand that he continued to hold. Niall, to his credit, worked quickly. Danny was soon stabilized and Niall began his post knotting examination. All sorts of devices assisted him.
He’s going to be fine, Niall told him. He should wake up soon and the two of you can go back to your room. But before that I need to examine you.
Is he pregnant? Sin asked immediately.
I’ll tell you both when he’s awake and I’ve examined you too.
Sin nodded his agreement to the examination.
Halfway through, Danny woke with a groan. Niall finished Sin’ exam and took off his gloves with a snap. While Niall prepared a few things for Danny, Sin went and practically curled up in his lap.
The good news is that you should recover from those quickly.
And the bad news? Danny asked stroking Sin’ hair.
There is no bad news, Niall replied. But congratulations are in order for both of you.
You mean..... Sin began.
Yes, the tests are conclusive. You’re both pregnant.
Really? Sin couldn’t keep the disbelief out of his voice.
I have one more surprise for you. Niall told him. Both of you come here.
Sin and Danny got up and went to where Niall was staring at a screen.
What are we looking at bro? Danny asked.
This is your scan, Niall said turning to Sin.
What does it show? Sin’ voice shook.
You’re going to have twins.
Twins? Danny asked for both of them.
Niall nodded then turned to him.
Look at your scan, Danny. He said.
Danny did as he was told.
You’re both expecting twins, Niall told them. And because you’ve both been modified, I’d say you have about 6 months to get ready.
Sin stared at the screen in front of him in shock. His hands fluttered over his flat stomach. Ever since his modification, he’d had a hard time getting someone to conceive. That’s around the time when he realized he was bisexual. Since then he and Cas, who he was delighted to discover was also bisexual, shared partners in bed. Yet, both of them seemed to have difficulty getting their partners to conceive. So they left Greece and came to join their father here in the states. That had been years ago. The Alchemists all said to give it time. But as the years passed with no results they began to get angry. Sin underwent some brutal tests and even more brutal modifications just to spare his younger twin. The day the program was brutally shut down was the first and only time Sin had seen Iri working with Danny. It was also the only time he’d ever see Iri in action. Most of what he knew about the mysterious Assassin came from Danny himself or from the whispered stories floating around. Sin wasn’t proud to admit that he’d fucked her on more than one occasion. And she was just as savage in bed as the rumors suggested she was in the field. Sex with her had been hands down the best he’d had until he’d had Danny. Granted, he’d really only had sex with Iri to get Danny out of his head. Something Danny would never know.
While Sin had been absorbed in his thoughts, Danny and Niall had continued talking. Now they were both looking at him.
Sorry what? He said.
You weren’t listening to anything I said were you?
Sorry, Sin said sheepishly.
Niall sighed deeply and it was then Sin noticed the deep purple splotches beneath his eyes.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
You both need to take these twice a day for the duration of your pregnancies. He handed Sin a bottle. Do you want to breastfeed the babies?
Is that even possible? Sin asked.
Shouldn’t be too much of an issue seeing as you’ve both been modified but you’ll need to take these just to make sure. I want to see you both in here for weekly check ups in order to ensure everything goes smoothly as it is the first pregnancy for both of you. I don’t want either one of you on missions now and keep your stress levels as low as you can. Sex is fine but refrain from anything rough. You might experience morning sickness and that’s completely normal. So is increased urination as the babies will likely compress your bladder. I’ll go over everything you can expect during labor and delivery when it gets closer to your due dates. For now, I want you both to rest.
What about missions? Danny asked.
Sin looked at him in surprise.
Are you insane? Niall demanded. Missions are off the table. Didn’t you hear me say that already?
Chort! Danny cursed in Russian.
Before Sin or Niall could ask what was wrong, a young woman appeared out of thin air.
Danny? She questioned like she wasn’t expecting to see him.
Mac, what are you doing here? Danny asked.
Sin had never seen Danny’s other sister but having seen Iri it was clear the two were related.
Iri’s worse, she replied.
Let me guess, Niall was a dick?
Whether he was a dick or not is...
She trailed off when she noticed his bandages. Sin tried to push Danny behind him when she didn’t take her eyes off them. Danny easily resisted. The girl cocked her head, much like a dog, and studied them. But she spoke only to Danny.
You took Jamie’s injuries from Iri, she stated as if that was obvious. But that makes no sense. Of all of us, Iri has the most connection with the magick that links us.
Niall said Koschei was out.
Mac nodded.
Why were any of them out in the first place?
Mac looked away.
You went into that nest didn’t you?
His sister nodded still not looking him in the eyes.
She’s running on no sleep again, isn’t she?
Another nod.
Danny sighed heavily.
I know she’s avoiding me as much as she is avoiding mom and Laochlain but she can’t keep doing this.
It’s not just that. Mac’s voice was quiet. She has nightmares. She’s terrified to sleep.
Nightmares about what? Danny demanded.
That night, the night she lost everything, Mac replied sadly.
The night she lost everything? Danny asked confused.
Mac’s eyes grew distant all of a sudden causing Danny to go to her.
Mac? He asked. What is it?
When we were 10 the academy took us on a trip to the remote highlands of Scotland for a survival skills test. Two days in we were attacked by vampires. There were too many of them for us to fight. We were too young to do much good anyway. Over half of the group was killed outright. A select few were turned. Iri’s friend Alcyone was one of the ones who was turned. Iri spent 2 years looking for her so she could keep a promise to her. That’s how Laochlain got to her. Iri had just caught up to Alcyone and had just about fulfilled her promise to her best friend when she was kidnapped by Laochlain’s men. She relives that night and every day she was held captive by that bastard every time she sleeps. Mac shivered. The screams are what get me.
Has she seen an Alchemist about this? Niall asked.
Mac shook her head.
She’s so stubborn! Niall fumed.
No she’s terrified, Mac told him.
Rightly so, Danny mumbled.
What?
She has reason to be terrified. It’s not like the Alchemists would do anything but give her a sleeping tonic.
Those things make her a captive to her dreams.
Sin looked between the siblings. He shook his head. Their dynamic was certainly very odd. Suddenly a phone rang. Startled, Sin jumped with a soft gasp. Danny heard and pulled him into his embrace.
How much do you wanna bet that’s Iri calling? He asked Mac who was holding the phone.
Trust me it’s not her, she replied.
Sin studied her for a moment. She looked worn out.
How do you know?
Caller id dumbass. She answered the phone. What is it Dean?
Something’s not right! Iri isn’t getting better.
What are you talking about? She was stable enough when I called a few hours ago.
We don’t know.
What do you mean you don’t know? Walk me through it.
Jamie is awake. I think he can explain it better.
There was a rustle that indicated the phone was being passed off. Suddenly a new voice came through the speaker.
Mac? Niall? Danny? It asked.
Yeah Jamie, we’re all here.
There was a long pause.
Jamie what’s going on?
She’s dying Mac. She’s taking my injuries and she’s dying.
Wait, how is she dying? She was stable enough last time I called.
My internal injuries were worse than I thought after fighting that bastard Koschei. He broke off as a fit of coughing racked him. We all know Iri is a badass. But with Koschei out she was even more of a badass. It took everything I had to knock her out.
But it’s been two weeks since then.
The bleed was slow I guess because it was plugged by a broken rib. I’m not really sure, not without taking her to a hospital.
Jamie you can’t!
Sin flinched at Mac’s tone of voice.
How would you explain her injuries anyway? Danny asked quietly.
I don’t know Danny but she can’t stay here, Jamie sighed. If she does, we’re going to lose her forever.
How fast can you get her here Jamie? Niall asked.
Everyone turned to him in surprise.
Are you out of your mind?!? Jamie shouted before dissolving into another fit of coughing. Moving her could kill her!
Not necessarily, Mac said slowly. Cas can bring her.
Sin furrowed his brow in confusion.
Castiel can’t keep her stable and transport her to HQ at the same time.
Wait, is he keeping her stable right now?
Not currently no.
MacKayla I cannot keep her alive forever, a surprisingly monotonous voice said.
Can you get her here without her becoming too unstable? Mac asked.
Maybe the monotonous voice replied. You realize it is a risk to even try?
We all realize that, Castiel! Niall snapped. But if she doesn’t get here and into surgery none of that’s going to matter. Now, can you bring her or not?
Moments later there was a gentle breeze and the sound of something akin to wings flapping. Mac was the first to move. She whipped around and stumbled across the room. Danny turned next and Sin followed. He was met with a strange man in a suit and trench coat carrying Iri bridal style. Niall sprang into action and had the man put her on a gurney. He then turned to Mac.
Call the Alchemists, he ordered. Tell them there’s an emergency and they are needed immediately.
Mac immediately did as ordered.
Rosie?
Everyone in the room froze at the voice, having completely forgotten its owner was in the room at all. Sin watched Mac turn slowly back to the older man.
Uncle Rom, I’m sorry, her voice broke on the last word. I... I ... couldn’t prevent her from coming out.
Something in Sin broke watching the girl collapse to her knees and begin sobbing. He broke free of Danny and went to her side. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap. He began speaking to her in Greek trying to soothe her tears. What she said next left him at a loss for words.
Enyo is dangerous yes but there are others that inhabit my sister that are far more dangerous, she told him in perfect Greek.
Enyo as in the Greek goddess Enyo? He asked quietly.
Enyo protects me from Alastor, Koschei, and the others that my mother foisted on me, the voice that answered his question was not Mac but Iri.
Everyone turned to the girl on the gurney in obvious surprise.
But how? Niall finally stuttered.
Sin watched Iri give her brother a withering look.
Ni-chan, I’m not an idiot, she told him.
Huh, could have fooled me, Niall muttered under his breath.
Sin was sure Iri had heard though because the next thing they knew, Niall was pinned to the wall about a foot off the ground. Iri’s forearm against his neck.
You realize it’s your fault Enyo was even out to begin with don’t you? She hissed in Romanian. Which makes it your fault that fucking Koschei was even able to get loose. Meaning all of this, she gestured to the scene around them. Is all your fault.
She let her brother drop before making her way to where Sin sat with her sister.
Are you alright? She asked Mac in Russian.
I should be asking you that! Mac exclaimed.
Thank Amon for my quick recovery, she chuckled.
Amon? All three of her siblings looked at her perplexed.
Amon is a demon, a prince of hell to be specific, Sin said.
That he is, Iri confirmed. He’s the only demon who I possess. Though I suppose it’s not true possession, at least not in the traditional sense.
How many entities do you possess? Sin asked.
At least 8 or 9 but of those very few are allowed out. Enyo is the only one who’s had control of my body more than once.
