Ch 28

Back on Planet Flaming Rock, the liquid core cultivator who had been sent by the Angel’s Justice sect to investigate the lack of spiritual energy had already visited the center of the earth. It pained him to use his cultivation to protect his body from the lava, but with no spiritual energy left on the planet, what else could he do. To prevent himself from getting burnt?

Cursing, from the loss of cultivation, he snarled, “Lucifer. This better not be a false alarm! I wasted tens of months worth of cultivation because I had to come find you.”

Furious from these antics, he sped up, trying to get to the core of the earth in the minimum amount of time.

“Damnit Lucifer. Damn that sectmaster too! Why didn’t we just kill Lucifer when we had the chance, instead of imprisoning him!”

After hours of swimming through lava, he finally made it to the core of the earth only to find a blackened cage and an empty space where Lucifer’s soul was supposed to be.

He recoiled, a strong sense of unease and danger pervaded him. As a slightly younger cultivator, he was not alive to witness the effects of Lucifer’s killing spree. But he was about to experience the terror of an unkillable cultivator.

Back on Planet Angel’s Justice, Bao Gang had just gotten used to the body of the young boy. His body was fragile to the point it seemed almost like glass. Multiple times, Bao Gang had used his God’s blood almost like muscles, in order to control the body of the boy, but accidentally used to much force and ended up tearing his veins and arteries. It was not as simple as you might think, because different parts of the boy’s body were made up of different tissues, therefore each part of the body could handle a different amount of force. But by absorbing spiritual energy and treating the injuries quickly, he ensured that there were no permanent bodily scars. Since this planet had much stronger laws, there was more spiritual energy and he did not have to worry about attracting attention due to his absorption of spiritual energy.

This is where Bao Gang realized the advantage he had with his old body. Just as he had gotten used to the body, and could move it naturally, he realized that the boy’s body could not absorb nearly as much spiritual energy as his old one.

The forest that he was currently walking through looked remarkably similar to the forests on Earth, just with different trees, plants, and of course, many things were bigger due to their ability to cultivate, which improved their bodies.

He saw another horde of giant rats, and he was tempted to drain their spiritual energy, knowing that it would allow him to produce more God’s blood, and that they would probably be killing more humans if they were let go, but he didn’t want to leave a trail.

The sectmaster had seen how he drained cultivation, and he didn’t want the sectmaster to know where he was going. To tell you the truth, he also felt a aversion to killing. It was an instinctive, primal nausea, something he could not control. It only appeared after taking on the form of God’s blood, but he felt cold-blooded killing to be as repulsive as the killing of innocent children. If he didn’t have a very strong reason to kill, such as saving a life, he would avoid killing. Not to mention how those pitch black, globs of blood seemed to appear every time he purposefully harmed something.

While these pitch black globs of blood made him stronger, he could also feel them changing him. Before absorbing the first drop back at the Immortal Mountain sect, he would never even consider killing anything, but afterwards, it wasn’t such an outlandish idea.

He didn’t consider absorbing cultivation to be bad, because it would not be him killing someone, but time and old age. Plus, the very notion of cultivating causes greed and death, so by preventing it, he could be considered upholding peace.

After walking for about an hour, he still had no idea where he was. He had found some towns with his God’s blood which had, by this point spread out for tens of thousands of miles, but he could not fly because it would likely destroy the body which he was using for cover.

But with no other option, he just kept walking.

On Planet Flaming Rock, the liquid core cultivator was trying to return to the Immortal Mountain sect. Paying no heed to his qi, which was quickly being lost, he had rushed back to the Immortal Mountain Sect. He knew he had to warn the elders of the Angel’s Justice Sect. Since Lucifer escaped, the first place he would take revenge on would be the Angel’s Justice sect, and every second that passed gave Lucifer time to cultivate back to his peak.

On the way, he had encountered golden drops of blood flying around the planet. When he noticed this anomaly at first, he had flown over to inspect one, only to find it was hurtling towards him.

Seeing that it was clearly hostile, he cast a fire spell, which caused a massive conflagration in the sky. If this were any normal blood, it would have been evaporated. But this wasn’t normal blood. It was still flying at breakneck speed towards him. Seeing its unordinary nature, he decided not to provoke it and to just warn the sect.

But surprisingly, the blood kept chasing after him! While the blood was not nearly as fast as him, it was relentless. While he was forced to burn his cultivation in order to fly faster, the blood seemed to have no such restraint. It chased after him, never slowing down. What made him even more angry was that he once passed a monstrous skunk in the forest. Then the golden blood stopped chasing him, flew to the beast, and after attaching itself to the beast, ignoring the poisonous fumes which were shot out by the skunk in self defense, once again began chasing after him, but even faster at this point.

Clearly, if he did not escape fast enough, he would eventually be caught. But even though he was faster than the blood, it was not by so much that the could quickly escape.

In its wake, was a withered skunk. Its black fur had now become gray, and it looked little more than skin and bone.

He felt a tingle along his spine and felt grateful that he had not tangled with the golden blood.

But just then, he saw another golden drop of blood, but this one was ahead of him. With one drop chasing from behind and another at the front, he turned to the right, hoping to circle around the drop without provoking it. This one was a bit smaller, but he tried to avoid it nonetheless.

POOF.

While he was fleeing, he heard a soft sound, like a bubble popping, and on the left, he could see that the golden blood had burst apart, becoming thousands of golden sparkles in the air, forming a much bigger cloud which prevented him from circling around.

With his cultivation being burned, and him flying in the wrong direction, he no longer had any choice. He continued fleeing for 10 minutes, but the golden blood never stopped chasing him, except to drain the cultivation of monstrous beasts. He was hoping that he would be able to escape without wasting too much of his cultivation, but this looked to be a hopeless dream. The blood almost seemed to be targeting him.

Gritting his teeth, he began burning his cultivation even faster. He rapidly doubled in speed, easily leaving behind the golden blood.

He was now panting. Not just from exertion, but the sorrow of losing years and years of painstaking cultivation. In just 20 minutes of flying, his cultivation had decreased by an entire level. It had already decreased by 2 levels getting to the core of the earth and running from the golden blood, but now it was being burned at a vastly faster rate. Keep in mind that it had taken him over a decade to accumulate the spiritual energy needed to advance a single level in the liquid core realm.

Each time he saw a golden drop of blood, they started chasing him and he had to avoid them. His eyes were bloodshot and he felt faint from exhaustion. From the start of the trip, he had now lost 5 levels of cultivation, bringing him from the seventh level of liquid core to the second.

But he had finally reached the Immortal Mountain sect! He inwardly celebrated, relaxing his guard and slowing down his speed, making sure to waste as little of his cultivation as possible.

If this had been right after finding out the Lucifer was missing, he would never relax before leaving this planet, but the stress from losing cultivation, the fear of being caught by the golden blood, and the sheer mental strength needed to constantly watch the environment were dulled.

He didn’t notice tiny golden specks amongst the dirt he was walking on. But he did notice a tiny golden figurine about 50 feet away, floating in the air, riding a 2 foot long lizard.

“Who are you?” he asked.

The figuring, Bao Gang, did not reply.

With a motion of his hand, the golden specks amongst the dirt rushed at the liquid core cultivator, attaching themselves to his body, slipping through the tiny holes in his clothes, and his worst fear became a reality--his cultivation was forcibly sucked from him.

He lost the strength to move his legs because his muscles began aging.

He fell to the floor, full of terror. He knew that nothing he could do would stop the blood from draining him of his cultivation.

And now he understood why all the elders back at the sect were so fearful of Lucifer. An undying body with the ability to fight for as long as he could drain cultivation, impossible to kill by normal means.

And thus, he despaired.
