Testament

[Location : Chitauri Mothership]

Thanos watched with rapt attention as the Chitauri soldiers went through the portal to wreak havoc on the Earth.

He found it strange that he did not feel much at all as his previous home planet was plunged into chaos.

He was quite a distance away from the portal but he could see the ongoing war with his exceptional eyes.

His eyes could zoom in and shit. It was quite convenient in his opinion. Not as cool as Superstrength but still extremely convenient.

He peered through the portal and saw death and destruction. Yet he couldn't care less.

Apathy.

The state of not caring whether the world burned or drowned was a nostalgic feeling. He had not felt like this since he met his wife.

'Ohh~ Natasha is on top of Stark Tower. She is getting ready to close the portal, I guess the end is near.' he thought to himself.

"Ebony. Go and secure the mind stone and the Tesseract." He commanded to the skinny alien beside him.

Ebony gave a bow before he left Thanos to follow his command. An involuntary smirk crossed his face as he did so.

Thanos waited a bit more as he continued peering through the portal before he saw a special ship - that should be carrying Ebony.

Only then did his muscles become loose and he stopped tensing up. Then he spoke to the empty space of the room.

"Prepare uhh.." He paused, searching for the right word, "Anti-missile? Something that could stop a destructive missile."

The reason why he had asked Ebony to leave was because he was conscious of the smart alien. He was tired of keeping up the overlord image.

And he couldn't have fumbled as he did now with Ebony around. He didn't want suspicion but at the same time, he had things to do, things that he would surely get wrong the first time.

[Initiating anti-missile system] came the voice of the mothership.

AI was actually a thing in the alien technology and it was just that there were no such features on his throne before. The mothership had a mind of its own that it shared with all its soldiers.

"Cool." He shrugged. The end was coming and with it, a nuke, but he would be ready.

Iron Man was about to come through the portal with a missile and blow this giant mothership to kingdom come. Thanos wouldn't allow that.

He stopped focusing on the far distance with his eyes and stared at his visible reflection on the transparent glass.

He checked himself, he was wearing the same golden armor that he wore in "The Avengers : Engame", minus the helmet.

He looked good, he admitted. Also, it felt surreal to see his own reflection, like it wasn't meant to be. Like it was completely wrong, this was not him.

He stopped looking at himself and walked away.

"Weapons." He said and one part of the wall began shifting and transforming into a wall where different weapons were displayed.

"That actually worked." He chuckled and walked towards the different weapons. There were many things but most of them looked like bombs and projectile weapons. He did not need such weapons, it would only limit his true strength.

A melee weapon would work better for him.

"hmm." He looked through everything before he found a spear-looking weapon. He took it in his hand and observed it.

It was a bit too small for his size but this seemed to be the only melee weapon around. It was designed rather strangely and he found buttons at the side.

"What does this do?" He asked himself and pressed it before the spear made a robotic sound and transformed into a bigger one. The size matched his body perfectly.

"Hah, I knew it." He said and twirled around the weapon and he immediately noticed the expert way he was handling it.

He had never really touched a spear in his life but currently, he felt like it was second nature for him to wield it.

He pondered on that. From the moment he came here, he had known what to do almost instinctively.

He may not have inherited the original Thanos' memories but some of his muscle memories and instincts may have been passed down to him. Some things just came naturally to him.

Like the way he talked with Ebony, the way he carried himself, and even the way he knew there should be weapons and AI here.

Thanos noticed something approaching the mothership from the side of his vision, he immediately went to take a better look and indeed, Iron was approaching him.

Thanos did not waste any time as he punched the transparent wall with his fist. A loud booming sound erupted for a moment only to be silenced by the vacuum of space.

The compartment behind him was closed automatically, a response to the breaches by ship he supposed.

He felt the air in his lungs taken away from him as the organ contracted to the limit. His body was immediately confronted by the zero pressure of space and extreme cold.

Anyone else would have died but Thanso only felt mild discomfort, almost akin but not at all similar to being underwater.

Invulnerability. It was one of his main powers and instinctively knew he could survive in space for a certain duration.

That was why he broke the ship instead of wasting time getting to the exit door or something.

He felt gravity pull him towards the portal and he pushed himself off the floor and let the portal pull him towards itself.

He shot towards the incoming Iron Man who had a missile on his back, and in no more than a few seconds he reached him.

Thanos pulled his arm - which was holding a spear - back and thrust it forward as he reached the missile.

His spear pierced through the heart of Iron Man. The man in Armor came to a halt while the missile he was guiding continued its journey toward the mother ship.

Thanos' face split into an evil grin as he skewered Iron Man with his spear. They both fell towards the portal.

The nuke behind them also stopped midway through its journey toward the mothership as tiny projectiles hit it and deactivated it.

Thanos along with Iron Man who had a spear through his heart fell through the portal. Their speed was faster than someone free-falling as Thanos had propelled himself before his jump.

With a blur barely visible to the eye, they crashed onto the ground.

*Boom!!*

A shockwave spread from the crushing place as the ground formed a crater due to the force of their fall.

Dust rose and when it cleared again, Thanos saw how his spear was planted on the ground, pining the dead Iron Man on the earth.

The whole world shook and with it, Destiny.

And Fate.

The golden son of 'Good' had been killed, just like that.

Tony Stark, the one fated to go against Thanos, was killed before he even got to spread his wings.

Tony Stark was a beloved character in his past life, but Thanos did not give a damn about that.

Iron Man would've been a huge throne to his goal, he was not going to spare him just because he was good, just because he was a hero, and just because he was loved.

He needed to get back home, to his family. They mattered, not Iron Man, not half of all life in the Universe.

Thanos pulled out his spear from Iron Man's chest and he stomped on his head, crushing it for good measure. He can't have him revived due to plot armor like in the movies.

The headless, dead body of Iron Man, one of the main heroes in Marvel lay beneath his feat.

It was a testament and declaration to his determination.

It was then that the world and reality itself finally realized he was not fucking around.

He was willing to do anything, go to any length.

To get back to his family.

To go back...

Home.
