Battle of New York

[Location : New York]

The largest city in the world was in ruin.

New York City had become a warzone. A place where humanity met the army of The Mad Titan in an epic clash that shook the whole world.

Tall buildings that were once admired for their beauty had become nothing but rubble. The streets were laid with craters and cracks as fire spread everywhere.

In the sky of New York was a blue portal that made a hole in the fabric of space itself. Through it came an infinite number of Chitauri soldiers, pouring out like water in an opening of a dam.

The sky was filled with smoke and humongous Leviathans graced the atmosphere with their presence, making the endless expanse of the sky appear smaller than it was.

It was a frightening sight, especially when they cast a dark shadow over the city. It made everything more nightmarish.

Chitauri soldiers were spread everywhere as they left destruction in their wake. Their main aim was nothing but to spread death and chaos.

The sound of explosions was perpetual and made the ear ring in unrecognizable despair. The civilians fortunate enough to live were crying, calling for help, and praying for a God they never believed until that moment.

In the face of such adversaries were the Avengers. A group of freaks that happen to have extraordinary abilities of their own.

The first one was Captain America, a supersoldier. The second was the genius billionaire Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man. Third, we have the God of the Thunder, Thor Odinson. Fourth we have Hawkeye, the man who never misses. Fifth was the beautiful redhead spy, Black Widow.

And last but not least was the unrelenting beast of pure physical might, the Incredible Hulk.

These six exceptional figures were fighting against the Chitauri. They were fighting the war humanity never could.

In the face of the infinite number of Chitauri soldiers, they worked as a team. They were ready to protect the Earth and even if they couldn't, they promised to at least avenge it.

Every one of them had different ideals, goals and backgrounds. But in the face of the greater enemy, they come together.

In the heart of the broken city, they stood side by side. Captain America, the unspoken leader of the group observed the battlefield and gave orders accordingly.

"Alright listen up. until we can close that portal our main priority is containment." Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America declared to the group and the rest listened closely.

"Barton, I want you on that roof." Steve pointed at the highest building the eye could see. "Eyes on everything, call out patterns and strays."

"Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you either turn it back or turn it to ash." Steve said and Iron Man nodded to show acknowledgment. It was almost natural to follow orders from the man whom he heard great stories about since he was a child.

Then Tony went to Barton, also known as Hawkeye, and flew up while carrying him to the roof of the building Steve pointed out.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

"Thor, we need to bottleneck that portal, slow them down." Steve said as they all looked up at the portal in the sky to see three more giant Leviathans come out like cockroaches from a sinkhole.

"You got the lighting, light the bastards up." Steve said and the God listened without resisting. Just goes to show what kind of man Steve Rogers really was.

Thor spun his mighty hammer and shot up to the sky and landed on top of the Empire State Building. He raised his mighty hammer and the sky responded to his gesture.

Thor, The God of Thunder, commanded the skies to aid him in battle. The blue sky darkened as thunderclouds materialized out of seemingly nothingness.

Dark clouds rolled up and churned to produce rumbling sounds that shook the world. Then strings of blue lightning roared out from the sky and connected with Thor's hammer.

Thor began charging up devastating amounts of lightning and when he felt like his arm would break off from the power, he released all the energy at the army coming out of the portal.

Lighting, a natural disaster followed the God's command as they launched at the enemy and destroyed everything it came in contact with.

On the ground, Steve continued, "You and I will stay here and keep the fight from spreading out." He said to the Black Widow, Natasha.

And for the final order, Steve turned to the green beast, a manifestation of physical strength. He looked at the eye of the beast and gave one order.

"Hulk. Smash."

Hulk let out an excited smile before he leaped to a building close by. The ground cracked under his simple movement as he shot out like a bullet.

He crashed into a Chitauri soldier who was climbing on the wall of the building before he leaped to another building and continued to bring devastation to the enemy.

The war continued and the intensity increased with each passing second as more and more enemy began coming out of the portal.

They were able to hold them off for now, but soon they would be overwhelmed.

They were mortal and they were living beings. The Avengers could feel fear, they could feel pain and exhaustion.

Meanwhile, their enemy was not quite living. They were a zombie army that knew naught fear nor pain. They fought like mindless beasts, they were relentless.

But like any other stories and every other battles, good prevails and life won over the dead.

The Avengers soon found a way to close the portal and the nuke coming their way -which was launched by the cowards hidden between the brave - was also dealt with by Iron Man.

The city was filled with the deafening sounds of gunshots and explosions. Death lingered in the air as violence had long since possessed the city.

Above that city, Tony guided the weapon of mass destruction with his own propellers and he led the missile into the portal.

Both were gone. Tony Stark and the nuke.

Natasha was standing by the device which was holding up the portal with Loki's scepter in her hand. She was ready to close it at any moment.

Silence finally descended onto the city as every being present looked up at the sky. They had long since forgotten how to breathe as they waited for the result of the war.

"Natasha. Close the portal." came the order from Steave. His voice was heavy and riddled with a deep sense of loss. But it was also firm yet helpless, as if to show determination and sadness. He was losing a soldier, yet again.

Natasha froze as the command ring in her ear from the earpiece. She hesitated, her emotions fought against her common sense for a moment before she steeled her heart.

She thrust Loki's scepter and was about to close the portal but she was suddenly stopped by an invisible force.

She couldn't move.

"I'll have that." She heard a calm voice for a moment. The voice held an ancient touch, as if the one who spoke held ancient wisdom gained through years of experience.

The scepter flew out of her hand and landed on the hand of the intruder. She finally turned around to see a noseless alien floating slightly above the ground.

But Natasha did not even have time to fight back as a purple blur dropped from the portal and landed on the earth.

It was not just the ground that trembled with that appearance.

The world shook.

Every head turned towards the source when the dust finally settled, it revealed a giant purple man with glowing blue eyes.

But the most noticeable thing was the evil smirk above his giant chin.
