“I’ll talk with her,” Lance said, stepping into the office with Dr. Riley

“Who are you planning on sending with me?” Josh asked the team leader

“I’m thinking Crystal, Matt, and Elijah” Logan said “Elijah and Crystal need to earn some points. Matt needs more experience with his genetic constraint”

“Any of the newbies?” Josh questioned

Logan thought before answering “Maybe Louie. She needs to make up for what she lost from Billy”

“Are we sure this is a good idea?” Josh asked

“What do you mean?” Logan said

“Should we be hunting for bonus missions?” Josh asked “Our team rating is already going to jump from Skye and the other newbies joining the team. Why not put all our effort into finding the killers and then come back to this world from the lobby?”

Logan noticeably tensed, his fist clenching hard enough to crack his knuckles.

“That thing in the mask” Logan growled “Threatened my daughter in the lobby. I’m not leaving this movie until I know that bastard can’t hurt her”

“It threatened her through manipulating you” Josh said “There’s no way it could reach her in the lobby”

“I won’t take that risk” Logan said resolutely “My biggest regret in life was not killing Emily’s killer earlier. I knew he was a threat and I gave him a chance. I won’t make the mistake again”

“I understand” Josh said, seeing the conviction in his leader’s eyes

“I’m counting on you Josh” Logan said seriously “You’re leading the investigation on this thing, I need you to do this for me”

The office door once again opened and Lance stepped out.

“Get ready” He said to Josh “Tomorrow you fly to Redding”
