Two survivors

Two survivors

Long long ago, there was two little girls who were freed from the prison that tormented them along with those their age. However, it costed the lives of many. The two little ones were fortunate to escape. After the escape, they wandered on the barren land. Eventually both girls were exhausted.

"Panda, I'm tired..."

"Don't stop now, Polar. We must...keep going."

"But...where do we go now?"

"I...don't know. We just...need to move on."

The two little girls used the remaining of their strength to press on. A group of bandits spotted them on their way and decided to approach them. The guys blocked their path, one of them asked the girls where they were heading. Panda simply begged them to give her and Polar something to eat or just leave them be. The bandits laughed at the request of a little girl, intending to tease them.

They did not intend to leave them be, or give them some food ever. The leader kicked them down, met with no resistance. Panda asked the bandits to stop hurting them, but one of them lifted Polar away from ground. Seeing herself and her friend harassed, Panda felt something inside her, she felt like she needed to stop them. One of them hurled dirt in her eyes, she felt like she could not hold it in any longer.

The bullies were having their fun but stopped when they heard screaming from one of them. A bandit was struck in the leg by Polar holding his gun in her hands. The rest of them could not gasp the situation. Panda wacked the one lifting Polar on his leg as well. Polar was dropped to the ground as he screamed. The leader ordered them to stop playing around and kill the child. However, all the bullets hitting her felt like cotton in comparison to her impenetrable skin.

"You've had your fun with us, now we'll play with you."

"You tried to hurt my friend. I can't forgive you."

A guy tried to shoot at Polar but to his surprise, his bullet was stopped midair as he found himself frozen. Panda and Polar swiftly annihilated each of the bandits, contradicting their yet-to-develop appearance. In the end, none of them were alive. Polar smelled some food in the nearby truck that the bandits travelled with. Both of them climbed on and ate the stored food. For the first time and forever, they ate a full course meal.

After feeding themselves, they learned to use their abilities to survive. They stole food from people across the land. Until one day, an elder wearing a white dynastic clothing accepted the request from people to stop them. When he met the two young thieves, he showed no fear of what they were capable of. When they fought him, he outmatched them in experience. Also, they somehow couldn't use their ability.

The old man referred to himself as Sifu and he could prevent people from abusing their powers. He offered them a chance to become stronger, to which they agreed because they wanted to be strong enough to protect each other. Panda and Polar followed Sifu into a place high up in the cold mountains. They climbed the mountains through the stairs made out of stone and eventually reached Sifu's house. From that point on, they became with disciples.

Ten years had passed since the day he took Panda and Polar as his disciples. Over that amount of time, he taught them his way of fighting and many other stuff. Panda developed the affinity with long weapons, especially a staff. As for Polar, she liked fighting with knuckles and claws. One day, both the girls were training when Sifu returned from his travel. When they saw him, they immediately prepared dinner. The three of them started enjoying the food as night felt.

"Sifu, was your travel tiring?"

"Did you get to kick any butts?"

"No, and also no. I didn't kick any butts nor punch any faces. Some people needed me to help with the sick ones. They thanked me with some pennies and all, so it was not tiring. In fact, I was glad to help."

"Aw, that sounds boring~"

"Polar, don't be a child. You are older now, act your age."

"But grown-ups can say whatever they want, like those we mopped the floor with back in the day."

"Our age of pilgrim and plunder was far over."

"Haha, you could still continue the pilgrim thought."

""?""

The two grown girls were puzzled at their mentor's words. They were not sure what he was implying or simply wanted to crack a joke. The old man noticed two dumbfounded faces, not understanding his words. He let out a small cough and clarified his words, making sure he transpired the meaning of what he said.

"Still don't get it, little ones? You don't have to look after this place all the time."

"!"

"You mean...we can come along in your next travel?"

"Yes, and that was meant to be funny but forget it."

"Great, I thought we would stuck here forever."

"It was your decision to follow me. Also, sometimes you need to experience new things and a cold atmosphere isn't the only thing this world has."

"Specifically when will it be?"

"Maybe next week."

"Boo!"

"Polar, if you can't wait, keep meditating under the waterfall for the whole week."

"Uh..."

"Come on, the food won't be hot forever."

They finished dinner then went back to what each of them usually did at night. Sifu would enjoy his tea in the backyard, especially after a long travel. Panda would write a diary of her own and Polar would play baseball with a throwing machine. Aftermath, they all went to sleep.

A week passed by, Sifu received another request from people in the far away. For the trip, he decided to bring along his disciples as he believed that they were ready. He had taught them everything he knew and the time had come to put all the knowledges to practice. Finally had a chance to go out in the world after years, Panda and Polar readied themselves with their favorite outfits. Panda wore a black jacket along with a green skirt whereas Polar had herself a white jacket and a red skirt. Both of them walked outside with Panda's short hair and Polar's long hair blowing in the wind.

Sifu expected no less from his disciples to go with such kind of outfits. Regardless, they all were ready to depart and say goodbye to the comfy house. Sifu walked ahead while the other two got themselves familiar to the stairs they once ascended with in comparison to their depart at the time.

Both the girls felt warm once they went to the flat and barren land, it could be that they got too used to the cold up high. Sifu looked after them in case they got exhausted due to climate change. Good thing they were fine.

"Sifu, what is the request this time?"

"People complained to me about the appearance of many scavengers across the land. A lot of gangs were formed. I believed there is much more to this sudden uprising."

"More butts to kick? This trip will be worth it."

"If it were come down to that, I hope you wouldn't get too...addicted."

"I will be fine."

"We might face a danger none of us has ever seen. Be careful, Sifu."

"I know, I'm not a young fool."

With that, they ventured on foot days after days, eventually they arrived at a town. They found a group of scavengers threatening people to hand over the goods. Then, the group saw three unfamiliar faces coming in town. One of them assumed that they came to surrender but before anything of them could continue on, the old man greeted them with sheer impact of fists. The townsfolks were impressed, they realized that the wandering old man came to save them.

Polar felt a little disappointed that the mentor did not leave some spare grunts for her to play with. The chatters of the townsfolks attracted an unwelcomed individual who happened to be the leader of the defeated grunts. He saw an old man and a duo of blossoming maidens, he chuckled to himself.

"Old man, why don't you quit instead of progressing the decay of your bones. What you're doing is hastening the inevitable death, just like how I - Ostrich will defeat you."

"Spare the talk, fool. The Ostrich has ran into a dead end."

"Tch...If you want it that bad, then here I come!"

The townsfolks reacted with tense when they saw Ostrich increased his speed to a superhuman level and dashed right into Sifu. The old man simply focus his attention on the guy and he instantly lost the speed he had, he was greeted with a punch in the torso and thrown behind the old man. The Ostrich didn't see himself being outclassed by an elder.

That was the price of his condescending attitude. He was always proud of his speed yet just got put into halt by an old man. He realized that he couldn't use his speed as usual. The old man had not finished teaching him a lesson so he came at him with a kick. Ostrich feeling powerless in front of an old man, ordered his remaining grunts to attack him. Ostrich switched to the two girls on standby. He could access his speed again when Sifu shifted to the grunts.

He rushed at Panda and Polar with high speed but tripped before even getting close to them. His head was held by Panda as she kicked him away like a pebble. He became even more confused, not having a single chance to impress. He noticed that he was tripling on ice. Enraged by another humiliation, he dashed again at the girls. But when his punch collided with Panda's body, only an immense pain did he feel on his hand. Some of his bones were broken, he felt like he just hit a golden statue.

Without a chance for him to think, the girls made a move. They stood on two opposite directions of his and gave him punches in a rhythmic pace. There was no word from the townsfolks reacting to the Ostrich sledding on ice as he get punched by Panda and Polar over and over.

And thus, it was clear which side wont the fight. Cheering could be heard from the townsfolks being in awe at their saviors. Ostrich and his gang ran away in terror, vowing to never co
