Passing the torch

Passing the torch

With the bad guys gone, the townspeople gave the three heroes their thanks. The mayor asked Sifu and his disciples if they could join him for dinner. Sifu looked at his little ones and they nodded, hence he accepted.

During dinner, the old man asked about the recent activities of bandits, to which he responded with rumors about a cult formed and led by a man powerful beyond comprehension. People said his guardians were possessed the strength of a one-man army. Sifu acknowledged the potential danger coming as of the moment. He contemplated if he should try going further with the risk of his own life as well as his young disciples.

Panda and Polar had already finished their meal, they were standing outside of the mayor's house looking at the sky that reminded them off the old days. Grateful as they were for being taken in by Sifu, they vowed not to waste the chance kindly given to them. Out of boredom, the two decided to spar for a bit. That was how they passed the time.

Everyone when to sleep, but Sifu had to drink some tea first. Recently he needed tea in order to sleep at ease and cast away all the unease. The old man thought about what to do if his end were to come, he wondered if it would be a burden for his disciples for having to carry his will. After drinking tea, he went to sleep.

There was nothing in particular that happened in the morning. Sifu woke up, his disciples were nowhere to be seen. The mayor told the early bird that they had beaten him to it. On the streets of the town were Panda and Polar taking a stroll. Polar herself wished to be able to fight more than the previous day. To her, The Ostrich was simply a snack. Panda would tell her that life was never easy. With what the two overheard last dinner, there would eventually be those they couldn't even land a scratch on.

Speaking of the devil, a townsperson came inside the mayor's house to tell him that they saw a large spacecraft was on its way to the town. Sifu knew that meant what he was worried about turned out to be true. He rushed out toward the town gate to prepare to face whatever was about to befall upon the place. The two disciples of his noticed everyone being worried after the mayor's broadcasted notification through a speaker. No one could truly be ready for what would happen next but simply hoped for another peaceful day, at the least.

A large spacecraft landed near the entrance of the town, people could see lots of armed guards making their way for someone. A woman in purple approached the town through the path the guards arranged, she wore a purple dress and held a fan in her hand. Sifu could tell from first glance that she was powerful. She looked around and saw townspeople trying to contain their fear except an old man in white among them.

"I see, so you were the one Ostrich told me about."

"Are you behind the rising bandits? What is your goal behind that?"

"I don't have to answer a peasant but...let us test your strength."

The woman dashed at Sifu, he focused himself and tried to lock whatever ability she had but it didn't stop her from attacking with her fan. He had to dodge while also redirecting her attacks. Panda and Polar tried to intervene but were intervened by the guards. Hence, a battle between three wanderers and the unknown force.

While his disciples fought fiercely against the guards, Sifu was struggling to weaken the woman who wanted to test him. Both of them were fighting using only skills. The woman fought quite well despite the sudden inhibition to her ability. She continuously attacked with her fan and he tried to match her speed in order to dodge every each of the hit. She swung her fan upward and he intercepted it with her hands.

At the same time, Panda and Polar swiftly dealt with the guards with their abilities combined with the muscle movements taught to them. The enemies were overwhelmed by their combat prowess, they had to fall back. Which wasn't the same for the battle between two individuals both possessed high combat capabilities.

The woman decided to turn the tides by taking out another fan and put more efforts into her attacks. Yet, victory didn't seem to be shifting any bit to her side. Wanting to end the battle, Sifu lifted bended his body and threw his opponent backward with his strength. Satisfied with her opponent's prowess, the woman decided to offer him a chance to surrender himself. If he rejected it, the spacecraft near the town would obliterate everyone with a huge laser cannon in an instant.

The guards took him away as he had no choice but to surrender. That however, did not sit well with Panda and Polar. They both jumped at the purple woman but were crushed down by an invisible force that seemingly obeyed her gestures. The girls were held down by an immense gravitational force, unable to move a muscle.

Sifu immediately canceled out the woman's ability, freeing the girls from the pressure. Displeased by the intervention, the woman ordered a guard to stab him with a syringe and extract something from him. The moment Sifu shifted his conscious at the sudden action, the woman pulled him close with her power. Then, she crushed his lungs with a gravitational force.

"I don't like being interrupted in the middle of work, even if it's because of someone like you. Regardless, I regret to inform you that I no longer have interest in you so I bid you farewell."

"W-what are you...intending...to do...with them...?"

"Your kids? They could still be trained...with force. As for you, the legion doesn't accept those who displease the lord and his guardians. You will regret opposing me in the afterlife."

"Gu...hu..."

""Sifuuuuuuuuuu...!!!""

The woman dropped the poor old man's corpse to the ground as the screams from his disciples came out on their own. The townspeople were overwhelmed to see him brutally murdered. At that very moment, Panda and Polar had to witness a lifeless corpse once belonged to someone whom they respected for the ten years of hospitability. The woman ordered her men to take them down and bring them along.

The spacecraft left the town while its people mourned over the death of their hero. The mayor decided that Sifu deserved a proper burial. Then everyone made a grave for him, honoring his endeavors for the people of the land. The mayor hoped one day the two girls could give him a visit as well.

After being captured, Panda and Polar were sent into a secret base specifically made to house slaves. They were locked into a cell with a little girl already there before them. Once again, the bears were stripped of freedom. With the high-tech color each on their neck, there would be no way to activate their powers. Had it not been for their little cellmate, the two wouldn't have been able to get away with the emptiness they were inclined to feel.

Days after days of mistreatment from the sadistic trainer didn't waver their manifested desire to revenge. Without their abilities, willpower was all they had to numb the pain. They eventually got used to the labors forced upon them. It had only been two months since they were sent into the hellhole. They began to doubt if the world could here the inner cries and pleadings for them and the little cellmate to be saved as well as many others slaves.

However, on one painful day like any other, lights went out. Before that, there was even an alarm saying that there was an intruder. Every slaves held behind the bars was scared, not knowing what would happen. A while later, the lights were still left unfixed and footsteps that weren't the guard's could be heard. Suddenly his head was severed and all the cells were opened.

Panda turned her head upward and she saw a guy she had never seen in her life asking her if she had seen a little girl that he described, who happened to be the little cellmate of her. He was wearing black leathered clothing and he had a dark green hair along with a pair of eyes sharing the same color. He approached the little inmate and greeted her.

"You are Silvie, aren't you? Your grandfather was worried about you so he sent me to find you."

"Grandpa asked you to save me? Thank you so much."

"I've dealt with the lights but be wary of the guards. Everyone else already escaped and I would like you to come along with me."

"Thank you, errand boy."

"Did he teach you that? Time to dash, you two as well."

Panda and Polar followed behind the guy holding Silvie's hand. A guard obstructed their path but he took him down swiftly with a boomerang. They went further until a bunch of guards noticed and threatened to shoot if they didn't surrender. Panda told the young man to destroy the collar on her neck and the one on Polar's, to which he did. She told him to take Silvie out of there and leave the guards to them.

After the guy went away with the little girl. Panda and Polar took the opportunity to release some steam. Each of them overwhelmed the guards with strength and the moves their deceased mentor taught them. Finally fighting after so long, Polar felt at ease. The two friends went to search for the sadistic owner of the place to pay him all he gave them.

They found their prey panicking inside his office. Panda took the time breaking each of his finger and toes while Polar numbed his senses with cold. After giving him karma, they severed his head.

Then, they broke out of the place along with other escapees. After exiting the base, Silvie and the guy along with her were nowhere to be seen. Panda suggested that they should go back to the town the other day, hence they departed using a stolen vehicle.

Once they arrived the mayor greeted them and led them to see Sifu's grave. They stood in front of the grave for what felt like an our then they decided to go back to the mountains. The mayor himself respected their choice, he gave them some food to eat on their travels. At evening, he along with the townspeople bid farewell to the two girls.
