Class Crafting

Class Crafting

"Can I be a dragon?" asked Alan

"There isn't currently such an option but I have some experience designing custom classes for the system. The most similar base class is called the Sceptical Lamassu, maybe we could flavour that into something suitable?" answered Stan

"Well, I'd like to be immune to mind magic, breathe fire and fly."

"At the start or as you level? I'm vetoing full immunity to mind magic, high willpower seems more in line with my idea of what a dragon is and partial immunity would fall under that in my game."

"I think I just want to be able to spit at enemies at first but still want to fly out of combat."

"Non-combat flying just requires a justification such as being of a flying species or Ethnicity, no actually this is one of the times race is the right word because it should mean the combination of the two. How about we give you willpower, spitting and acting as skills?"

"Can I have a dragon form, maybe an illusion or transmutation?"

"Let's make that a special ability. Now we need signature equipment."

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

"Do we? How is the illusion not equipment and the special Lamassu spit?"

In the end they came up with this:

Background

False Dragon

You have given up the heavenly plane in your pursuit for a draconicon form, it is only illusory for now but that doesn't have to be the case. Your fiery breath may currently only be angelic spittle, your wings feathers and not scales but these are things you sought to change.

Special: You are physically a Lamassu at the start of your adventure. If your dragon illusion is dismissed it reforms after a long rest.

Skills

Indomitable Will 4

Spitting 3

Acting 3

Equipment

Dragon Illusion

Lamassu Spit

"Well, that's my class sorted, what about the rest of you?" asked Alan.

"I've got that Geomonic Admin that I wrote the in-character introduction as, which I never got to play." announced Marilyn.

"I want to try this one I found in a third party publication - it lets you play as meaningless words that got removed from a bible, called Placeholder from the Holy Book." said Luke.

"I want to fly sky ships" queried Jane.

Stan replied "How about the Ardent Giant of Corda, that's from the core book and I don't think we've had one of those yet."

"Sounds interesting, tell me more."

"They party in memory of their lost homeland, seeking to recreate the atmosphere, some even seek the place. All of them have Skills relating to sky ship navigation and some can steer them as well. They get something from Corda to help them on their way. Remember everyone, if it's not in the book then our group decides the details. This includes the truth of whether Corda survived and is lost just to the giants or if its loss is more permanent."

" I'm in, I think I'll call this character Cora and use she/her pronouns."
