Chapter 1- New Beginnings

I came to and immediately knew that something was wrong. I was not in my bedroom; I was lying on a floor of what looked to be clouds and, all around me was the open sky.

Suddenly an authorial spoke beside me.

[ Hello there, young Kai. you are probably wondering where you are and what is happening.]

I immediately jumped up and away from the voice and then froze because, for my entire life, I had been paralyzed from the waist down. So standing on my own two feet was a surreal experience.

While I was getting over the shock of standing, I heard the voice again and looked up to see an extremely fit and handsome man standing across from me.

[ I am sure you are very confused and have many questions. but before you ask any, let me explain a bit first.]

He took a deep breath in and let it out slowly before starting to talk again.

[ First, I am an elder of the Dragon Peek sect, from another world similar to yours but different in many ways. I brought you here to give you a proposition and, if you accept, set you on a path of power and help me and my sect far, far off in the future if you make it that far.]

I opened my mouth to ask a question but, he raised his hand to forestall me and then continued where he left off.

[ Now I have realized that in real life you are paralyzed and, if you accept my offer, I will give you the ability to fix your legs but, even if you dont accept my proposal, I will fix your magic meridians so you can at least use magic properly. If you do accept my offer, I will fix your meridians and open you other meridians to allow you to use Qi.]

At my confused look, he realized he didn't give enough detail and rubbed his chin in thought for a moment before continuing.

[ Hmmm... Well, let me explain a bit about your world and mine and, then I will explain what you gain from our deal.]

[Ok, as you know, humans, animals, monsters, and some plants can use magic, and that magic power or manna is stored in a spot in your stomach. The larger that space gets, the more manna a person has. But what you dont know is that for your world, each person has twelve meridians in their body that allow you to use manna.

In my world, we dont have manna but instead Qi which is similar in ways but, it is more geared towards making your body, mind, and soul perfect. But, once you go into the brain stage, it gives you access to basically magic but, it works in different ways. Qi lets you do almost anything as long as you use enough Qi but, you also gain an affinity for some elements such as fire, lightning, water, and so on.]

When he took a break for a breath, I cut in and asked a question. [ How does this Qi help me to be able to walk again?]

[Well, there are two reasons you are paralyzed. The first is that your meridians are blocked and damaged. The second thing is that the poison damaged your body when you were young and, there is still some poison left in your body and, with Qi, you will be able to take a pill that will reforge your body using Qi and will improve your body and get rid of the poison and heal you. With your ancestry, you will most likely notice a slight change to your body as well.]

I sat there thinking it over, then asked another question.[ What is it that you require from me in exchange for your help?]

He was quiet for a moment, then began to speak.[ Well, there are two things I would require from you. One is that you join my sect when you get stronger. The second thing is to research how the manna of your world and Qi affect each other and how they can be used in conjunction together.]

[Well, I probably would have researched without you asking me but, why do you want me to join your sect? What do you gain from that.]

[My sect is looking for new members and we decided to go to new places to look. To join my sect you, have to be related to a dragon in some way or have a unique body with Dragon characteristics My world doesn't have many people left that are not children of our sect. Or isn't already in another sect so to bring in new blood and abilities we are expanding our search to new worlds.]

I considered his reasons for picking me and what he would require of me. I sat there for a good couple of minutes and then said [ I accept.]

The man nodded and said [Well, then let us get started.]

He indicated that I lay face first down on a table that had appeared out of nowhere and started to stick needles in my back. I suddenly started feeling strange foreign energy enter my body. The next thing I knew, I was walking back up on the table. At some point, I must have passed out during the process.

He spoke then[ You now can use both Manna and Qi once you go back to your body you will be able to heal yourself. I will be sending a helper along with you. She may be a manifestation of cultivation knowledge but, she is like a daughter to me, so treat her well. She has a lode of knowledge but has not developed as a person. For a time, she will be in your body until she gains enough power to form a body. I dont know what form she will take but, it won't be a human one, at least not yet. She will guide you throughout your journey and always be there for you. Now, are there any questions you have for me.]

I thought for a second then, responded[ No, send me back. I'm itching to get started!]

Then my vision started to fade, and the last thing I saw was the man waving and saying [Good luck with your new life.]
