Matt now stood in the living room of his apartment with 8 thugs and Ned. He realized how ridiculous this all was, especially considering that he got the system only a few days ago and now he was looking at this strange scene.
He didn't want to kill them obviously because he was a rational human being with emotions. Sure they could have killed him earlier if he didn't have a system, but he had a system, so they couldn't. He also wasn't sure if they were going to kill him or just beat him up. But that all didn't matter now anyway.
Matt had also watched a few videos on law in high school and he was pretty sure that attempted assault was way different than murder. So he would actually be the one penalized if he did kill them even if he was cold-hearted enough to do it.
But he also knew that if he just let them go, they could do horrible things, since they were still criminals. He also didn't want them to tell anyone about his freakish speed since it could attract malicious beta testers to him.
He was nervous about calling the police now too after what Ned said. he could be lying, but there was another problem with him calling them. If it got on the news that a young man took down nine criminals with guns and weapons, bare-handed. It would draw every beta tester in the area right to him.
He looked around the room at the group, who all seemed tense, waiting for Matt or someone to speak. Finally, Matt spoke up.
"I brought all of you in here because we need to talk about what's gonna happen next."
Matt pulled one of his dining chairs to the living room and sat as he talked.
"I'm gonna let you guys go, but there are a few rules you have to follow for the rest of your lives."
He paused for dramatic effect, putting on the act that he's some sort of imposing figure. But really he was just winging everything.
"Rule 1, never mention my name, face, or fighting skills to anyone. I don't exist. Rule 2, never harm innocent people again. I have eyes everywhere and if I find out you broke one of these rules, you won't live to see the next day."
After the display Matt put on earlier, taking down all of them like it was nothing, this speech brought chills down their spines. The nine criminals felt like he really would go through with it and somehow could see everything they did.

"Do you understand?" Matt asked firmly as he looked at all of them.
They slowly nodded and spoke in agreement. They let out sighs of relief and seemed to be glad to keep their lives, not realizing Matt had no intention of even killing them. As the tension seemed to wane slightly, Ned started to speak nervously.
"I-I don't plan on breaking your rules, but there's a tiny problem. If we go back, the boss will kill us, unless we have proof that we finished what we set out to do..."
Matt looked at him with slight annoyance.
"Why does that matter to me? Just don't go back."
"Well, I'm afraid he might send more people to see what happened. He doesn't like loose ends. If nine whole members went missing including a manager, which I am, then there's no way he's gonna ignore it."
Matt realized this whole thing was just a mess. Now he was regretting not just giving Ned his wallet the night they first met. If he never got the system, that's probably what he would have done and then he wouldn't be looking down the barrel of an organized crime group.
It's not like he was afraid of them, minus maybe the guns since he still wasn't sure how durable his skin was now. But he guessed it probably wasn't enough to protect him from anything more dangerous than a kitchen knife. He really should test that, but carefully.
But with his speed, he probably didn't need to be too concerned anyway, though one mistake and he could still be shot. He was just thinking about what it meant to face an entire organization as a beta tester. If there were no other beta testers in the crime group that is.
Matt looked around at the thugs again and then at Ned.
"So, couldn't you just go back and say you beat me up? That seems like the best for all of us."
Ned looked down like he was thinking.
"I think you're right. But the boss is scary and I hope he doesn't see through the lie. But maybe he wouldn't care either way."
"Well just do that and remember not to mention my skills. Make sure your friends don't either."
Ned nodded and looked back at the group.
"Okay guys, let's go."
They looked at Matt nervously as they started to shuffle out of his apartment, with Ned guiding them back outside. Matt realized there were now dirt prints in his living room from all their shoes. He sighed as he followed them out.
As they started to leave, he thought about how he might prepare in case this boss guy and his group came after him. He didn't fully trust them to keep quiet or like Ned said, for the boss to believe they did the job.
In addition to this new group, there were also the beta testers. If he really wanted to be safe, he felt like maybe his constitution really was the next biggest priority.
After a few minutes, Ned and the gang were out of sight, and Matt was left alone once more. He activated [Help] now that they were gone.
"Here," he said as he handed her his phone again. She snatched it and seemed to mumble something about him taking too long.
"Keep an eye on my apartment while I'm gone and hide if someone comes in so they don't see a floating phone."
Her attention didn't leave the phone as she spoke, giving a distracted answer.
"Sure."
Now that all of that was settled, Matt started walking away from his apartment, towards the local park. But he also had some things he needed to check on the way.
"Time to see what loot I got."
