Matt collapsed onto the ground after he heard the 'Ding' of a quest being completed. He was breathing heavily and he could barely move his legs.
Sweat poured off of him and soaked through his shirt. Even though this was the most worn out he had felt in a long time, he had a huge smile on his face as he looked at the menu that popped up in his vision.
__________
[Quest Complete]
Go for a run [1/1mi]
+1 Agility, +10xp [XP 34/100]
__________
He immediately felt something after the menu appeared and announced his reward. But he had trouble figuring out what felt different. He still felt just as exhausted and he didn't feel any stronger.
'So if it's similar to an RPG, Agility should be related to speed right? I guess I'm not exactly in the best state to test my speed right now.'
Matt was still laying flat on the ground while pain coursed through his legs and entire body. He would at least need to give himself some time to do proper testing. As he stood up though, he immediately noticed something.
'I feel lighter and somehow it was a little easier to get up than I thought it would be. Is that what it feels like to have more agility? I feel like my balance is better too.'
It wasn't a noticeable difference but it was still significant enough to tell that something had changed.

'There it is. My agility is 9 now. So is 10 what a normal person has? My physique is so bad that it's below that?'
Even though his current stats didn't look very good, he was still excited about finally increasing one. Even the slight increase in mobility raised his mood a lot. He just felt better than he was used to.
'What would it be like to raise my strength and constitution then?'
Matt couldn't wait to test the system more and raise his stats. The only problem is that no new quests had appeared so far and also he was exhausted. It seems like even his system could tell since he had a new status effect too.
'So what do I do now? Is there a way to get new quests to show up?'
Just as Matt finished that thought, a 'Ding' sounded again and another menu appeared in his view.

A ton of messages floated in front of him as he stood there trying to understand all of them. There was too much to process, so Matt decided to just read them one by one.
'Tutorial Mode? So now I'm in the real game or something?'
Matt looked down the messages until his eyes landed on one that really caught his attention.
'Skills huh? Well, no time like the present.'

Inspect [Lv.1], Map [Lv.1]
__________
'Map seems pretty obvious. That should be useful later. And inspect is a classic, though it's usually called analyze or something.'
Without waiting, Matt shouted, "Inspect!"
'...'
Nothing happened.
Matt felt embarrassed that he just yelled that in public and nothing happened. He actually just realized that he's probably been making a fool of himself by shouting "stats!" every time he opened the menu. Theoretically, he could just think the words, unless the system is picky or something.
With a sigh, he focused again on how to activate his new skill.
'Damn system you could've told me it was a passive skill.'
After that thought, he looked down at his shoes and focused. After a few seconds, something popped up in front of him.
__________
(White Sneakers) [Equipped]
A pair of shoes.
__________
Matt smiled when he saw that it worked, but his smile faded when he read the panel.
'Well, thanks I already knew they were shoes. Huh, it's barely giving me any info.'
After closing the menu, he looked around for something else to inspect. Soon he found a pebble on the ground. He held it in his hand and focused on it.
__________
(Rock)
A small rock.
__________
'...'
'Yeah, that doesn't help me System! I already know it's a rock!'
Matt threw the rock away and went back to looking at his stat menu.
'There's one more skill called Map. I already know what it does but might as well try it out.'
Matt was about to shout again when he realized that he might only have to focus for it to work. He focused on the skill activating and a square screen opened in front of him.
It contained a section of the sidewalk that he was standing on, as well as a blue glowing dot in the center. Large letters above the dot spelled out "You" and just as someone walked by, a white dot moved quickly across the screen.
'So now, I would say that this was more useful than inspect right now if it wasn't for the fact that the map seems to only show the area right around me. It doesn't seem very useful for navigation.'
Matt sighed again. He was looking forward to checking out his new skills but they both seemed pretty useless until he leveled them up.
But even if he was slightly disappointed, he still kept both of them active so that hopefully they would level up soon.
'I still need to check out the new quests but I should probably head home first before I embarrass myself more.'
With that, he made his way back to his apartment at a not-running speed.
