Third Person POV:
“Listen up impar, I need you to go in the opposite direction of your home.” ”What! Why would I need to run awa……. Oh.” “I can give you power, but I need time. If you could just survive, power would be within reach. But your odds of surviving against the most powerful mage in your clan right now is very slim, so I need you to RUN THE FUCK AWAY into the forest over there.” “There’s something wrong with that forest, I can’t use my earth manipulation there, the earth won’t respond to me.” “Which is why you have to go there! Remember, you are not a utterrae clansmen any more, you are-” “I am chosen by the system. Ok, ok, I know what to do. Go into the jungle right?” “Yes.”
And so begins the journey of Lapis Impar. The journey was clearly off to a bad start because in Impar’s haste to escape the clan chief, he did not bring any food nor water. While water is something utterrae clansmen’s earth manipulation is weak against, the clansmen still need water, just much less than a normal human. There was a severe lack of wildlife, and the trees grew more and more withered as the pair of system and host travelled deeper into the forest. Soon, they reached a point where the trees had collapsed, as if the trees grew too weak to support their own weight. It was at this point where they encountered the first creature in the forest. A skeleton of a bear-like creature. Its bones had a sinister grey hue to them, while some of it’s bones had pieces of rotting flesh clinging to them. The skeleton moved towards Impar with a jerky, clumsy kind of movement.
First Person POV (Impar):
I’m going to need help. A set of adult Ursa bones is chasing after me and I don’t have time to use my magic. These creatures were ridiculously tough to kill because of their thick hides protecting their soft insides. While this bone monster does not have a thick hide, it also seems to lack the weak insides as well. How does one even kill one of these things? “Stop running, turn around and attack it,” Kaint commanded. “That’s insane, this bone monster doesn’t have any insides to attack. Besides, I can’t fight something like that.” “First of all, it seems unable to move properly, it trips and falls every 20 steps, that’s why it still hasn’t caught up. Secondly, it must be getting its strength from somewhere, it can’t be creating energy out of thin air. One thing I’m definitely sure of is that you can’t out run it, its movements have been getting better, it’s only a matter of time before it catches up.” I decided to take a risk and turned around to face the bone monster, hoping that Kaint was right.
I dug my heels into the ground and turned to face the bone beast. “Don’t use your claws, just punch it or something,” Kaint shouted. Heeding his advice, I waited for the beast to come near me, before whacking its skull. I could feel the skull creaking under my fist, and watched as cracks began to appear on its skull. The problem was some sort of black coloured air left its skull from the cracks. I hurriedly jumped back only to see that the black air was following me. The bits of black air that I had touched formed a layer around my scales and I could feel that it was trying to enter my body but was blocked by my scales. The layer black air squirmed and wiggled as it wasted its energy on a futile attempt. I watched as the air slowly ran out of energy and started flaking of and falling to the ground. Now that there was no need to worry about the black gas, I began viciously attacking the bone ursa.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
It took me quite some time, 20 minutes all so to finally beat it. The only way to defeat it was to break its bones and release the black air. The bones will then be unable to move after that. I spent 15 minutes to break the bone ursa’s entire skull and right front arm. It was at this point when I tripped on some shards of broken bones and fell forward. I reached my hands out in an attempt to catch something I felt my claws graze something. After falling to the ground I fumbled to my feet and jumped back. I looked at the bone ursa only to realise that I grazed the ursa with my claws but the end result was deep marks in the bones from which black air was escaping. I realize that my claws were far more dangerous than any punch I could do so I spent the next 5 minutes destroying the rest the ursa with my claws. I wonder why did Kaint tell me not to use my claws.
First Person POV (Kaint):
That was down right ridiculous. How could his claws rip through bones as if they were not even there? Why were his punches so weak in comparison? Let’s think about this SYSTEMatically, hah hah. Nice to see my sense of humour is still around. I have been feeling pretty numb lately. Like I was feeling emotion through a dampening field or something. Anyways, what I know is the claws sharpness comes from Orange Tier Scales while the punch strength comes from Red Tier Muscle Strength. So the only logical conclusion is that the difference between a red tier and orange was ridiculous, that means I am a complete badass. Yay! Though we still need to find who ever was causing so much destruction to the forest. I was not sure before but now I am. We are dealing with a necromancer. While Impar was out exploring the jungle, in search of water,I decided to delve into the massive world of abilities that could be purchased. I was looking for ways to get more points because the rate of 1 per day was too slow and because relying on stumbling upon an achievement is unreliable.
I realised how badly I screwed up when I looked at the system upgrades. I found some very useful upgrades such as Daily Point Increase: Increase Points Earned Per Day By 1(100 Points) (Stackable), Basic Achievement List: Shows Basic Achievements (300 Points) and Basic Murder Points: Gain Points Proportional To Strength Of Enemy Defeated (200 Points). There was also others like Achievement Boost: Increase Points Earned From Achievements By 10% (100 Points) (Stackable), learning based ones like, Unarmed Combat Points: Gain Points When Proficiency In Any Unarmed Combat Skill Increases (There was a version for many different skills like cooking, magic, knife skills, etc.), and there were rather odd ones like Harem King: Gain Points Proportional To The Beauty And Strength Of The Women/Men Who Have A Committed Intimate Relationship With Your Host (10 000 Points) and Face Slapping: Gain Points Proportional To The Magnitude Of Contradiction Every Time Your Host Does Something That Directly Contradicts What Someone Believes In In Front Of Said Person (10 000 Points). I should have bought one of those points increasing system upgrades at the very least, but I didn’t even bother to ask if they even existed. Fuck! What a mistake, I should have known that there were other ways out there.
