A gargle of revolting clamour was puked from behind me.
A pungent odour had already engulfed the air around me. My nose instinctively sniffed, inhaling a mix of rotten yeast, corpses and highly concentrated sweat. My face irked as the smell travelled through my system, warning me of my death in this untimely place.
Chlora had begun chanting instinctively yet her nervousness, revealed through a quiver caused her to fumble and the spell to break apart.
She took the shortest breath she could and instantly restarted.
But the opportunity was gone.
My world slowly enclosed as an obscure blue border started growing in my vision.
Rows of unaligned lemon yellow teeth, covered in rot and stench rotated and spun wildly.
I could already envision my flesh being shredded to pieces before being dumped down into a pit of bodily fluids.
Ah. I'm going to die.
I could see Chloras no longer determined look turned desperate. She spoke as fast as she could but the creature was not one for waiting.
I was too tired.
Physically, I had been running in and out of rooms for too long. Flailing my arms with all my effort for too long. Being next to death's door for too long.
I was tired.
Emotionally, too. For what reason? I did not know. Probably because of the intense emotions that I had been producing for hours on end. With no gaps nor intervals.
Honestly, I couldn't even take an emotional break for reading a book?
My vision blurred. The sounds became muffles. Feelings became colder, distant and silent.
Ching.
A curve of silver flashed and was now in my hands.
My hands trembled as they fought the full force of the monster.
Bent at an awful angle, I desperately pushed upwards with the last of my strength and efforts.
As I pushed more and more, a shower of sparks became thicker and denser.
All I could see was yellow fireworks before me.
I finally managed to pull my arms straight. My sword still battling and constantly trembling under the force of the ravenous teeth that spun and ravaged the silver-blade.
My bloodied body had two whites on my face. Two white eyes that only looked one way.
Forward.
My state was atrocious and my health had declined so much that I wasn't going to hold for long.
A nice little reality check tapped my back in my heroic stupor.
Although I had stopped the top half of my body from the invading drills. The bottom remained unprotected and frail.
Looking forward and feeling stale. I was unaware.

But not for long.
"Guh."
My face turned a raw green as two large silvery chunks of red flesh were torn off by a wall of revolving greasy, grimy and dishevelled yellow teeth.
I heard in pain, as the two chunky slivers soon became a spitfire through the sea of yellowing spikes. What was part of my feet soon became a meal.
A starter, if you will.
I wanted to run forward. Believe me.
However, my legs had been burning for hours. I had pushed them too hard. Even the slightest movement caused my leg muscles to feel as if they were going to pop out of place.
My arms still battling for life, had long been screaming and shrieking in relentless exhaustion. They too were pushing the limits of their limits.
I was just a child.
My body was never designed for this. Suited for this. Ready for this.
But I was.
I felt the putrid air waft behind me as I charged forward.
The muffled voice of Chloras chants passed by my ears.
As we crossed, a connection formed.
Kill that bastard.
Mhm.
I met with two purple worlds. Omniscient and deathly.
And then her mouth began to open calmly. It was at that moment, that the only clear thing on that fateful day occurred. The words shot out of her mouth as if she was an empress. Her eyes gave the creature before her a look that I had never seen in all our years.
Cold. Unkind and deathly.
The noise though muffled was soon coated by a quiet yet elegant voice. The blur slowly unravelled showing Chlora, coated partially in blood though her face was clear. Her eyes were dead-set on the goal. She stood tall as she retracted her right arm.
"Fire.Arrow."
As her arm gradually pulled back, a glorious, blazing haven of inferno slowly grew.
In it, a roaring flame boomed. It was a beastly orange and hints of red coated its edges. A bright yellow soon emerged from within. It was defined yet destructive. Deathly yet controlled.
Her arm now fully retracted was ready.
For the first time in this heavenless hallow I felt some joy.
The creature's eyes showed emotion.
Concern.
How does it feel?
The arrow was finally completed, becoming a inferno of destruction. Its flames lay silent, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice.
To be afraid?
Chlora spoke flatly yet powerfully. That one word probably attached more emotion to this creature than it had felt for a while.
"Release."
The back of the flame bulged.
Fwoosh.
To be infront of death?
Our hair blew backwards, from the sheer impact of the release, revealing her refined face and my bloodsoaked face. Our eyes both watched as the end revealed itself.
The Arrow increases in volume halfway through flight. Its flames grew within their boundaries as they grew enthusiastic for the impact.
To be next to your grave?
The monster's eyes, all covered in an orange hue revealed the same panned emotion.
Fear.
As if time slowed I met its eyes with my own.
I smiled hysterically. How does it feel?
To be a goner.
At the end of your ropes?
To be dying?
Boom.
To be dead.
The flames roared after the impact, roasting the monster even after collision.
A large dust cloud of asphalt and smoke rose, indicating that the arrow had pierced through flesh and even hit behind the monster.
A small inferno storm rotated wildly and cramped on the ceiling.
A breeze of embers and smoke drifted past us as we covered our faces with our arms.
Through the smoke, a row of eyes opened.
They were dull. Slow and sullen.
Their mystifying blue was now trembling.
Not from fear anymore.
But from anger.
My voice crumbled as I spoke or rather despaired.
"H-how?"
Chlora did not speak. But merely let her eyes reveal her emotion. Panting and on her knees she saw through the gap in her arms.
As rows of eyes gradually opened one by one.
The ocean of roaring blue inside gradually reached a stagnant state.
Wasting no time, Chlora chanted almost instinctively.
Where are we really going to lose, after so much?
Her voice was raspy and the pleading seeped through her pitch.
"Lord of southern wind, guide this hopeless prayer."
"Wind Turmoil."
The last of our hopes were carried by this small vastly-changing steamy cylinder. Its edges confined as it compacted.
It reached the monster's forefront.
Bang.
A black smoke covered the monster.
Its blinking eyes were still visible despite this.
As the last of the smoke flew behind the creature. A sight of unparalleled despair continued onwards.
The large gap in its back that had been blasted open from the fire arrow slowly folded itself over.
Flesh wrapped itself around other parchments of flesh. Raw wounds slowly bubbled before becoming full again.
All of our hope was slowly wrapped away before us.
Now that I think about it. I really wasn't contributing. But I couldn't.
My entire body was burning and seething so much that it didn't cloud my mind but rather trapped it. Trapped it to a tiny space.
I couldn't think under the overwhelming emotions that constantly crashed and dragged me around.
From this point on. I don't think a single decision I made was not instinctive.
