In the year 2099 virtual reality has advanced by leaps and bounds thanks to the help of the artificially known as Tobi’s worldwide use in the last 30 years. Since its inception on the global server responsible for powering and connecting the world machinery, robots and entertainments systems, technology and science have made huge advancements.

At first, people were afraid of the world government prying into their private matters and it becoming a real life Skynet. However, with the government’s assurance of Tobi only being a service like the internet and will be specifically programmed to be of assistance to humanity and the only people that should be worried are criminals. People soon quieted down and embraced Tobi.

Eventually, Tobi became responsible for most of the planet, making humans more and more unnecessary, jobs that used to be impossible for a machine are now solely completed by androids. In the wake of their new found purposelessness, the people began to stir and riot. Fearing this the world government asked Tobi to create virtual worlds for the world’s people.

Initially there were a few technical issues like pain being too realistic, graphics being and powering the pods until they decided to use the heat generated by the people as a tertiary power source, realizing that the pull of virtual reality was powerful and in order to keep population size from decreasing too dramatically, restrictions were put in place.

1. You must be 20 years old to access a virtual pod.

2. You must finish your education.

3. At least once a week you must eject from the virtual pod for socialization and exercise.

Each new game is placed on a separate server run by multiple AI responsible for keeping the world, NPCs, quest running in a cohesive ever-changing manner just like a real world and in a way it was exactly that and the latest game to be birthed from Tobi was a classic fantasy game with vast and varied ways of play. Players can be anything from cultivator using a Ki to obliterate mountains to warrior slicing apart swarms of enemies with one masterful swing to more obscure things like a spirts and insects that evolve into unimaginable forms and that game is synthesis.
