Upon exiting the cottage door Aku’s eyes are assaulted by the overbearing light of the desert sun and rough sand of the Jarobi dessert, the Scythian starting area. This whole dessert is the home of 3 nomadic races. The Scythians, the Darogi and the desert Elves. Due to pressures of the outside world, these races eventually formed an alliance, building a large city. Thankfully these races were able to cover for each other’s weaknesses quite well.
The Scythians being the shrewd merchants they are set up large markets and journey the far to buy and sell exotic wares bringing money, culture and tourists to the city. The Darogi, a large offshoot of the orc race that breeds dessert worms for food and transportation are the city’s protectors and partially responsible for the food of the citizens. And finally the desert Elves usually an introverted group eventually gave up their old way to survive in this strange world, they are the architects and bureaucrats of the desert, they keep thing peaceful and use their magic to protect the city in times of great danger.
‘Not a bad place overall,’ thought Aku as he took in the in exotic city he finds himself in, pretty standard market city, vendors selling all manner of trinkets, restaurants and shrines to the various gods of different worlds the strangest thing was the huge water fountain in the centre of the of the plaza.
Aku couldn’t help but wonder where the waters is coming from in this barren desert, but he figured that the blue glowing stones ordaining the marble had something to do with that.

Casting his eyes to the east gate out of the city Aku spots a Scythian guard, in typical Scythian style, he is wearing fine robes and is adorned with golden accessories head to toe impeccably dressed. No matter what position in life they always find a way to be fashionable. Even the beggars use golden bowls, as they say. A common legend among the people is that the very first Scythian was the demi god son of the god of gold, king Midus has led to the race adorning themselves with gold as a good luck charm.
Approaching the guard Aku says, “Excuse me, I was wondering if you can…”
Interrupting Aku, the guard says, “what’s in it for me?” shooting Aku a strange look, as though a tiger eyeing its prey.
Quickly figuring out what’s going on, Aku flips the man a silver. Catch the coin almost as soon as it left Aku’s hand the guard gives a guttural laugh and says, “HA HA HA, smart boy, the names Gibbsie and I know just what you’re after,” taking a red envelope out of his pocket he hands it to Aku, take that the rundown bar at the edge of the slum before sundown.”
Staring at the envelope, confused Aku asks, “What’s this for?”
Tapping his nose the Gibbs says, “Exactly, what is this for? HA HA HA, that’s the spirit keep up the good work and id get going soon it’s almost sundown.”
