Books 1 and 2 Synopsis

Book 1

Sean O’Carroll was relaxing at home with his family when he was suddenly summoned to another world, Vitae. Instead of summoning him to the temple of Ariana where he could get all the training her followers could give, he was sent to the middle of the Southern Forests because Lokir distracted the other gods. Alone and unable to speak the language, it didn’t take long for Sean to be enslaved.

Ordered to learn under Elendria, a slave elf, he mastered enough of the basics of mana to not only escape. Bribis, the gnome caravan leader Sean’s former masters were travelling with allowed him to join them, and he started learning more magic under the mage Carrigan. Using knowledge from his world and some coaching from Elendria and Carrigan, Sean dove into learning and completing as many magic classes as possible.

Wanting to free Elendria as well as remove the former slave title from his status, they headed to the nearest human city. Tensions were high, as unbeknownst to them there was an imposter claiming to be the Chosen of Ariana. The imposter was whipping up non-human discrimination and getting ready to force the city to war with the demons. Using disguises, Sean managed to get his and Elendria’s slave titles removed while trading for some non-human slaves. While Sean was busy setting the local Adventurer’s Guild on fire as a distraction, Bribis had started evacuating the few non humans left in the city.

Having escaped during the confusion, Sean and company headed to Shineheart, the gnome capital. After barely escaping a bog created by a previous calamity, the company was forced to rest at a Dwarven garrison while Sean recovered from overtaxing his soul. While his body rested, Lokir drew him into the divine realms for some training.

Eventually the crew reached Shineheart, where they found out Bribis’ brother was the head priest of Bruin. When the gnomish council refused to believe their story, Sean decided drastic and swift results would be easier and sent a curt message through the church to Bruin so Ariana could finally figure out where her wayward Chosen had disappeared to. Shocked at their behavior, the council was even more shocked when Bruin immediately responded.

Book 2

Nearing the level cap for humans, Sean and company head off to the world’s strongest dungeon to prepare for his evolution. While he is polishing his skills to get the best evolution options, the guild master, Brian, foretells that the monster wave that plagues the town every so often will be coming earlier than usual. This is due to the interference from the Vipers of Apophis, the god that is trying to invade and devour Vitae. After a massive battle where everyone is pushed to their limits, the Vipers are defeated. It isn’t without cost, as Carrigan was slain. While Sean was busy with this, the champion of Apophis broke away from his god after realizing that he was being controlled with mind magic.

After evolving, Sean was returning to Shineheart when the Bog of Eternal Shadow and the Calamity living in its center crossed a line. Sean destroyed the bog, saved a crystal full of souls of those slain in the bog, and managed to recover a scale of Apophis. After gaining rewards from a set of higher gods, he set off with Elendria to clear the curse from the Kingdom of the Sun Elves. Despite saving the cursed souls of the kingdom, Sean seems to have made an enemy of the higher god of light. Despite his attempts to lessen the reward for Sean, a higher power stepped in and granted what it determined was a fair reward.

After freeing the Sun Elves, Sean and Elendria head to the Elven kingdom as they try and rid the world of Apophis’ last Viper. During their trip, they make the horrifying discovery that elves are being implanted with soul leeches, and that there are three breeding grounds for these monstrosities. One for each of Elendria’s previous handmaidens. Forced to use subterfuge since there are so many that were implanted, they attempt to free as many people as possible without massive loss of life. After clearing the breeding grounds, the last thing remaining is dealing with Elendria’s brothers and the Viper whispering in their ears. Teaming up with some loyal elves and the Seer’s guild, they assault the trio in the throne room.

Having cleared the elven kingdom from Apophis’ influence, they teleport to the demon lands. There Sean uses the last of Croea’s priestesses to check in on his family.
