An Ancient Inheritance ( My best chapter yet )

As Ling Wei strolls down the Ancient Phoenix Realms, flames of different colours dance around him, occasionally making contact, but never had any effect. Flickering in and out of existence, each flame is actually the visualisation of a miniature formation, each having a certain role, forming ultimately into a formation that covers the entire realm. It presents an overall magnificent aura, giving a sense of awe, certainly, during its peak, it would have been even grander, perhaps the small flicks of flames would have been to the size of mountains.

Nevertheless, Ling Wei remained preoccupied in his mind, strolling towards a dark whirlpool, he, without noticing it, continued walking ever closer. The flames around him slowly disappear, only until he was surrounded completely by the void did he finally came to.

In front of him is a small, flickering flame, no larger than the size of a seed.

"Something left behind from the ancient inhabitants of this realm!" perhaps this was the most excited Ling Wei had been during the entirety of his second life, he can now finally obtain a golden halo, become supreme before all others, and ascend to the peak of cultivation.

The flame slowly forms a figure of an old looking man, with red hair and benevolent features, he looked like a stereotypical grandpa from a cookie cutter XuanHuan novel.

As if just noticing Ling Wei's presence, the figure turns around slowly and opens his mouth.

"Childe... you have entered the tomb of the final chief of the Phoenix tribe, long lost to history, you clearly have the karma to have stumbled upon this one aboard, accept my inheritance, and you shall obtain an opportunity to surpass those of even the strongest cultivators in this realm, those mortals see as gods will be no more than ants in your eyes. Your body contains much natural talent, through nurturing, you may even reach the realm lost long ago, perhaps only be rivalled by Dragon tribe".

A wisp of flame detaches from the old man, slowly floating towards Ling Wei, ultimately coming to a hairs breath, before proceeding forward, in an attempt to enter Ling Wei's body. Finally touching Ling Wei, it was then repelled back into the old man, who coughed violently.

Trying to keep expression neutral, the figure stroked his beard, then once again set out a wisp.

It was rejected once again.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

It continued until the figure became much fainter, while his face seemed like as if a dark cloud was looming over.

"I say you brat," the benevolent old man could no longer keep his composure, "are you trying to play with this one, what in the world is wrong with your body, during my mortal life, I had reached the Dao Seeking realm, and now the world is telling me I cannot pass my inheritance", his speech gradually become faster, until it was nearly intangible, before finally breaking in to a string of curse, he first began in standard Mandarin, then quickly ran out, before delving into Cantonese and the numerous other accents.

Only when the old monster had mentioned his cultivation realm did Ling Wei finally realise the problem at fault, trying to lift a smile, he took a huge effort in politely informing the elder of the issue.

"Elder, the problem might be that I have already reached Dao Seeking," despite Ling Wei's effort to maintain as much respect possible, his upper mouth could not help but twitch.

The respect and benevolent figure could no longer be seen, instead, an old man who currently ran out of Tianjin curse began cursing in a Dongbei dialect.

If not anything, his vocabulary is quite impressive.

"Niubi Yu," still in the middle of cursing, he suddenly stopped, before finally getting a face of despair, "To think that our million-year-old legacy is going to die because of this silk pants," he thought, before his face finally lit up, trying to regain a posture of utmost respect, as if his string of profanity had never occurred, he proposes, "I could you give the secret technique used by the Phoenix tribe, please keep it alive".

Without even asking for permission, all the remains of the flame suddenly dashed towards Ling Wei, this time successfully entering his body.

"Despite the lack of a grandpa figure, I still got a supreme technique," Ling Wei thought to himself, before beginning to inspect the technique.

...

...

...

A bright red technique appeared in his mind, describing an ancient technique used by the Ancient Phoenix Tribe in numerous of their battles against their rival, the Dragon Tribe, which still exist today, within their own secret realm.

It describes a process in which flame could appear out of nothing, without even the consumption of Spiritual Essence, a method that had been long lost to cultivators beast or humans, with the grand name of 'Void Flame'.

A complex emotion appeared on Ling Wei's face.

"Isn't this the technique Yan Chi aunty uses to cook?"

Dejected, he turned and left, slowly reemerging from the void like area, once again stepping into the path he came from, the origin flicks of flames had all disappeared, perhaps as a result of the disappearance of the grandpa.

"I haven't had the opportunity to appreciate the scenery" Ling Wei complained, any other cultivation would never have the time to appreciate this formation, as the moment it appears, they would have long turned into ashes.

By now, Ling Wei had calmed down much more, returning to their original location, he sees Yan Chi amusing Hong An with the Void Flame technique, as if adding salt onto wound.

Perhaps the old figure would be satisfied with the revival of the Phoenix race through the efforts of Ling Kuanguang.

Yan Chi had long noticed Ling Wei's disappearance, along with the ordeal with the inheritance, but paid no mind to it.

Ling Wei, spotted by Hong An as he reappears over the horizon, was quickly faced with her hug.

Hong An, with her young face, was full of smiles, inflicting Ling Wei, which a genuine smile, much better than the one shown before the elder appeared, while Yan Chi watched as the two embraces.

"The old man you met was a servant of the last chief of the Ancient Phoenix race. If the realm had not been destroyed, by now, he would be serving me".

Phoenix inherits their memories from their parents, Yan Chi, naturally was the daughter of the ancient chief but had never considered the chief her parent.

"Come, I'll show you where my birth mother lived, it's much better than the servants quarter".
