Chapter 102- Saber Toothed

Chapter 102- Saber Toothed

Focusing most of my attention on the 4 peak F ranked undead for the rest of the day, I made sure that they, and the golems I sent out with them, stayed out of harms way and made as many undead as fast as they could.

And by around midnight, the F ranks were done with making the 27 G ranked undead.

They were lesser undead, of course, but even then, they were good enough to start working.

And after all, 27 were completed, I started marching them towards where we’d be setting up our main supply point HQ, as I wanted to get that area cleared as quickly as possible so I could start moving corpse carriages there, and start building some housing.

By morning the 27 undead should arrive there, and while they lacked conventional tools made of metal and wood, I believe I have come up with a decent alternative, which is bone tools!

Sure, by itself a bone axe wouldn’t really be able to cut a tree, as it’d snap after a half a dozen hits or so, but by hardening the bones, and sharpening their edges, we could use bone tools nearly as well as normal tools!

Emphasis on “nearly as well as” as they are, after all, still bone tools, so they will break after a while... but we really do not lack bones.

Especially not right now as, towards the night another group of priests came with another corpse carriage for my use!

And right now, I am sending my 4 F ranked humanoid undead over there to grab another 3-4 E ranked corpses so they can make 27-36 G ranked humanoid undead.

Though, I am not sure if I want to actually use all 4 corpses as 64 humanoid undead are not that much better than 54.

But if I turn one of the F ranked corpses into another F ranked 4 armed humanoid undead, I’d be able to make a lot more undead even faster...

You know what? Sure. I am willing to actually use one of the D ranks at a later date, or just do a small scale animal massacre against those terror birds and wolves to get more corpses.

And the 4 F ranked undead I have right now should be able to complete that order of 37 more undead in under a day, so, I don’t have a problem with that.

Though I do have to help them get those corpses don’t I... I mean, most of my flesh minions can talk, and I should probably let my acolytes know that I can control any undead I create through soul magic, but I don’t think I want for that to become public knowledge for now.

It will get revealed and spread to everyone and anyone that is even slightly interested or knowledgeable about me, but I don’t want it to be known for now.

Why not? Well, first of all, I am lazy and don’t want my allies to rely on me for scouting all the time. I’d actually be willing to do that, but also, no.

Secondly, this is my paranoia talking but... I am wary about spies.

Not spies sent by Ojciec Lasu of course, the bishop, priest Jarek, priest Elijah, and basically every follower of his are spies in my eyes, and not giving them knowledge is both impractical and stupid as that’d show Ojciec Lasu that neither do I trust him, nor his men.

No, I am worried about spies sent from Teria to follow Ojciec Lasu’s men, and their movements.

I am 100% sure that Ojciec Lasu has already thought about this, and has made preparations, or has ordered his followers to make preparations, to stop any Terian spies from just following them here, waltzing in, and realising “Oh fuck, Ojciec Lasu and Elyria are supporting a new deity in his attempt to steal the followers of our goddess, Lady Tilk.”

Of course, them realising this from just interacting with the average villager would be most improbable, but the villagers know about our movements from just observing the hulking mass of brass walking in town, me, and the little, short green men, my acolytes, and the golems, and my undead, all of which are also me.

And while most villagers would probably not be able to understand what we are doing by watching us, and they’d also be unable to question the mayor, the elders, the clerics of Ojciec Lasu and my men, but they’d still have an idea that something is happening.

And they’d be more than capable of guiding some curious outsider in our general direction.

And while it’d take even the best spies a few weeks to realise what the hell is going on, they’d realise it in the end.

And while I am not sure how long its going to take me to leave this place for good, let me tell you something—I am not leaving this month.

There is just so much to do, and while I do have allies, I still need to do like 80% of the things by myself, with the help of my small army of undead, of course.

But I am a necromancer, so, that small army of mine doesn’t count!

But I only have like 88 undead out and about anyways, and less than a dozen golems. So, its not even that big of a force!

And it’s still a horde that could be cleared out by a group of E ranks or a D rank, so it not big enough to even call it a good horde of undead!

“Ahhh... I need to use one of the D ranks, don’t I?” I thought to myself while I was in a meeting with the goblins and, for now, this would be our last meeting as I was ready to start the initial stages of our plan, which was talking with bandits and getting them to be on our side.

My small horde of undead would be more than enough to subdue any single one of the bandit camps if they decided that dealing with undead was a stupid thing... which it is. It really. I cannot tell you how bad of an idea it is to trust the words of a random undead that popped up in your backyard.

But I happen to be one of the good undeads, and I do not wish for half of my horde being destroyed after fighting a few dudes living in the woods.

And there is always the chance that one of the bandits we encounter will be a D rank, and as I am yet to reach E rank, I cannot just fully control the corpse of a D rank monster... we saw what happened when I tried it last.

So, I need to convert one of the D ranks I have in stock into 3 E rank bodies, because I am not reaching E rank by myself anytime soon.

I’ve asked Rifu-san what level you needed to be to reach E rank, and I learned that you are guaranteed to reach E rank on level 120... I am at level 65.

Sure, I need literally 5 more exp to level up, but level 66 isn’t that much better than 65... which just means I’ll have to spend at least a few weeks in the dungeon when I am back to goblin town.

Assuming Rifu-san hasn’t taken the dungeon core, which may or may not be artificial, without telling me.

She said she’d sent some people to investigate it, but hasn’t told me anything yet, so, I am assuming that either her people have not entered the dungeon yet, or they have already reached the dungeon core, and found it to be just a normal dungeon core, and thus Rifu-san has decided to not inform me of it... I hope.

I’ll ask her in a few more days, or a week or 2, as I don’t want to seem too annoying, but I am getting more curious by the day.

But, right now, I should probably just get one of those D ranks out, and start working on it to make 3 E rank bodies.

2 of which will act sort of my bodyguards, and the last one will act as my new body.

And as one of them is going to be my new main body, and the other 2 are going to be my bodyguards, and part of my first elite undead, I have to make them intermediate undead at the least!

I am actually more than willing to spend an entire day trying to make a higher or advanced undead, whatever the next tier after intermediate undead is actually called, but I don’t have the time to spend on that right now as I just want to have some undead that could help me fight against E ranks and D ranks.

Though, I’ll probably lose 1 or 2 E rank undead while fighting a D rank as, while the stats of 3 E ranks are nearly the same as a D rank’s stats, the D rank is also 3 times stronger than any of the individuals fighting it, and can just pick them off one by one, so I’d probably need 4 if not 5 E ranked undead to actually defeat a D rank without any losses...

“Well, let’s hope I don’t meet any D ranks in the next week, because I don’t want to lose the undead, I’ll spend a lot of time making... I mean, I can just reanimate them after a bit of work, but they’ll definitely lose a few dozen stat points if not drop by an entire rank if they get destroyed by a D rank...” I thought to myself, as I made my way to one of the corpse carriages, and took one of the new D rank the clerics brought for me.

I thought for a moment if I should bring the goblins with me, as it wasn’t that late and most, if not all, of them should be awake, but decided not to.

This was going to be my first time carving up a D rank, and making E ranked undead after all, I needed to focus on it.

And having a bunch of goblins watching me, and asking questions was not going to be good for my attention span.

Heaving the corpse of the D rank onto my shoulder, I left Lublin, and entered the forest which was becoming increasingly familiar to me.

Some people of course saw me as I left the village, but they ignored me this night, like every other night before

And as I arrived at my usual undead making spot, I wandered my gaze around the clearing for a moment, and saw the 5 4 armed undead doing their best to finish the remaining 2 armed undead, while the already finished ones were helping around whenever they could.

Though, even though more than a dozen undead were on the project, it’d still take them until dawn to finish up with all the 2 armed undead.

Ignoring my lesser bodies for the most part, I mentally ordered some to go bring me some more material from the forest as I laid the corpse of the D ranked monster to the ground.

It didn’t belong to any species I had seen on this world before, but it was familiar non the less as it resembled sabertoothed tigers that lived in the ice ages back on earth.

Though, it also resembles a lion as its fur was yellow, and it had a big mane.

“...Yeah, I am keeping the mane. It just looks goods, and, who knows, it may give me a charisma boost...”
