She buttoned her uniform shirt as she did everyday, and finished by buttoning the button at her throat. She slowly tucked in her shirt, making sure there wasnt a wrinkle out of place. Putting on and wearing this uniform was something she took very seriously. Her job and life revolved around the uniform itself. Clipping on her tie she gazed into the mirror. Icy blue eyes store back at her, the face was pale and long hair black as night. She pulled her hair up and put it into a classy bun. Pulling the door open she walked to the staircase, down the stairs and to the kitchen. She pulled bottle out of a warmer. The plastic was white. The contents deep red.
This is Vivian.
Vivian got to the police department and went straight to the briefing room. Every other part of the job was enjoyable, but this.
"... Arrest warrants are out on these two.." The Lieutenant was already mid brief. Vivian slipped into the room as he passed the pictures around. "Nice of you yo join us Viv." He glared to her as he handed over the pictures. "Sorry sir. Late night." It was a goddamn lie. She never slept, and was usually always on time.
"You know I hate it when you're l-"
"Late, Yeah I'm aware Lieutenant. What are we arresting these two for?" The Lieutenant looked confused for a moment then shook his head.
"Arson, Murder." He mumbled, then went back to look over his briefing list.
"Sup Viv?" Someone asked, poking her in the back.
"Yes Colby?"
"My names not Colby!"
"I know it isn't. Colby Jack."
"Why the hell do you call me that?" He asks exasperated, and slightly pissed at his nickname. Vivian snickered as she looked to him.
"Because your cheesy." she paused almost falling off her chair from laughter. "And a blockhead." A few other officers started laughing as Jack turned red from anger. Vivians hair stood on the back of her neck and her skin tingled. She knew something was coming for her. She reached around and grabbed Colby Jacks wrist, that was about to hit her head.
"Jack! Vivian!" the Lieutenant called them out.
"Yes Sir." They echoed, letting go of each other.
"You two will ride together today." They both sighed and sat back in their seats. Vivian worked alone, she hated being at the mercy of someone else. This had to be a punishment.
"How long sir?" Vivian questioned, looking at Colby Jack. He worked five hours, she worked twelves. "Excuse me?" The Lieutenant raised his voice to Vivian. Vivian stood at her desk and mirrored him.
"Colby Jack works fivers sir. I work twelves. Where and when is his drop off point?" Vivian could feel Colby Jack turn red, and she could see the Lieutenant turn red.
"I tell you what you work. And today you both work a twelve. He is with you Vivian until your shift is over." Vivians jaw drops as she feels a punch on her back from Colby Jack. She barely felt the punch, she was more shocked at the Lieutenant. For the rest of the briefing she imagined the whiteboard blowing up from her imaginary ray vision. After the briefing Vivian couldn't find Jack.

"Where's my partner?" She asks rounding into the break room. Everyone who witnessed the briefing chuckled.
"Head maybe?" The sandy haired kid, called Tommy, responded looking from his coffee. Vivian grinned and went to the mens bathroom door. Everyone watched and wondered what her psycho ass would do next. She kicked open the door and walked into the bathroom.
"Woman present!" She called as she looked over a guy taking a leak. He turns red as he finishes. "Hey." Vivian called to him as he tried to run out of the bathroom, "Wash your damn hands." She demanded. His face deepened in color, as she leaned against the wall and watched him, then started going through each stall. "Colby Jack! Come on out!" No movement throughout the restroom. She pounds on the only locked stall. Uniform pants are around someones ankles. Vivian went into the next stall and carefully crawled onto the toilet, then peered down onto Colby Jack. Jack looked up to her, almost petrified. "Hey Colby."
"Your.. In a mens area." He stammers.
"I announced myself."
"So?"
"So hurry up. We have a job to do." Vivian jumps down and washes her hands. After drying her hands she left the mens room with a smirk. She goes to make her coffee in the break room, everyone watches her enter and starts laughing.
"Hows the mens head?" Tommy asks through laughter.
"As I'd expect." She proudly states taking a long draw. Coffee wasn't something she particularly needed, but she drank it to fit in. Its the same way with alcohol. She couldn't absorb it, but she went to the bar and threw back with the boys with no problems.
"Men's room as you expected?" The Lieutenant asks walking in. When she's about to answer Jack comes behind her.
"I went for a personal."
"I went to find him." She then turned to Colby Jack. "We need to get going. We are late getting on the road." Vivian grabs her coffee, the keys and her bottle, then leaves toward the garage. Colby follows shortly after. Vivian sipped her coffee as she started to drive. When working alone she drove faster than usual. But with Jack in the car, she wouldn't go as fast. She knew her judgement was impeccable, but Jack didn't know that.
"Your.. Pushing 60."
"I know."
"Its 45 through here."
"So?"
"Its against the law?"
"I am.." She starts to say "I am the law", but she simply stopped herself. "I know Jack. I'm sorry." she laid off the gas and drove. No one really knew who she was.

Her hair was in soft, beautiful curls, pulled up with some left on her face. Her face was powdered, making her eyes more icy. The maids helped her put her cobalt blue gown on and helped lace it up.Today was her 18th birthday and everyone she ever cared for awaited downstairs. The group included her father, uncles and her Grandfather. Her grandfather was known as Sir Robert Peel. When she was ready she carefully descended the staircase and to her awaiting Grandfather. He takes her hand and takes her for her first dance. Vivian laughs as he spins her and pulls her close.
"How were the streets?" She asks in a baby soprano. Her grandfather smiles.
"I'm the prime minister.. I don't know what happens with the bobbies anymore." She didn't believe a word he said.
"Not true." She smiles as they spin.
"You are right. The streets are very safe thanks to the few out working this night." Vivian smiled knowing the best were out there. Vivian always knew when someone was telling the truth. She was born with a natural sense, and has used it to this day.
