Ba bump
The creature blinked its outer eye membrane, drifting lazily through the void, basking in the warmth reflected from the world below. If it cared, it would’ve seen hundreds of tiny figures scurrying around below, living their frantic lives. If it cared, it might’ve noticed patterns in the sounds they made and the things they did. If it cared, it would’ve seen them multiply, and begin constructing similarly miniscule structures that they would then frequent. If it cared to notice, it might have even been mildly curious about this mild infestation. But the nap was more important.

The creature stirred from its rest briefly to stretch, rolling and twisting itself to readjust its position, allowing the warmth it basked in to reach other parts of its physical form. One of its limbs battered against one of its nearby spheres, sending it hurtling through the void. The creature sent out a shiver of what might equate to mild irritation, but otherwise it made no further movement. It would retrieve its toy when it finished napping.
Below, the frantic lifeforms seemed to grow even more frantic in their movements. There were far more of them now If the creature cared to focus its hearing, it may have heard their squeaks of terror and mourning. After all, one of their gods had just died.
Ba bump
The creature twitched. It sensed an intruder on the outskirts its territory. It would be bad if one of its kind had come to cause trouble, or worse, steal its prey. The creature enjoyed monopolizing fishing in the nearby plasma ball and would not want to share such easy prey. Letting out a low rumble of annoyance, it finally rose from its comfortable spot, and skulked quietly in the direction of the intruder, the creature’s inky black coloring making it hard to see in the background of the void.

On the world below, tens of thousands of lifeforms cheered at the good sign in the celestial bodies. Their other gods had finally driven off the evil in the sky! To honor their victorious deities, they began construction of far more massive central structures. At least massive compared to them.

The creature returned from its victorious fight. Luckily it was only a rock worm that sought to eat its fill in the nearby rings of rocks. Hunting such large prey was good exercise, and a satisfying hunt often was followed by a satisfying nap, so the creature returned to its warming spot.
Below, a couple million frantic beings cried out in fear. After all, their ancestral enemy had returned, and they had believed that enemy to have been merely a legend.

The creature was awake once more. Its nap had been quite relaxing, and while it knew it ought to circle the outskirts of its territory to renew the traces it left to ward off its competitors, it was still quite comfortable. So, for now it decided to play with its other spherical toy, batting it playfully between its limbs.
Below, hundreds of millions of frantic beings looked up, watching the war of the heavens. They were fearful at first, but as generations passed, and the war of the heavens continued, they slowly began to return to a semblance of normalcy, always making sure to devote the hours when the creature eclipsed the sun to pray for their gods victory.
Far above, the creature had momentarily lost control over the sphere, sending it hurtling into its favorite warming place. In a moment of panic, it checked the status of his warming place. After a cursory glance, the creature concluded its warming place was indeed fine, and glared at the floating debris that had once been its sphere. Clearly, the sphere was at fault. It wasn’t too bothered by the loss of the sphere; it could always find a new one to play with.
On the world below, where once stood a budding civilization, there was nothing.
