The two took a short while to calm down, Winter talking with Sapphire for a while as she hugged her, both of them having cried several times in the duration. Sapphire healed Winter during that time, both of them having suffered many injuries, but only Sapphire could heal easily due to the Krystallite skill.
Sapphire spotted the elder talking to a strange person, the man wearing shining golden armor embedded with a great number of jewels, a greatsword slung on his back and a longsword tied to his waist. The man possessed golden hair and blue eyes fitting of his attire, a hero's attire.
"Appraisal." Sapphire whispered focusing on the man as Winter lay down beside her, resting, not paying any mind to Sapphire.
"Human (Hero) (male). "Level 86, HP: 100%, MP: 98%, Stamina: 87%. Titles:
"Appraisal, how many Midnight wolves has that person killed?" Sapphire questioned. Winter tilted her head at Sapphire on hearing the question, startled to attention from it.
"Total: 27. Adults:19, Children:8," Appraisal informed.
Sapphire disappeared from beside Winter at that very instant. She jumped out of the ground between the elder and the Hero, startling both. She kicked the Hero with a charged kick, sending him flying backwards as she landed on the ground. He rolled on the ground for a while before unsheathing his longsword and stabbing it in the ground to stop himself.
"Sapphire, what do you even think you are doing?" The elder exclaimed.
"What you should be doing but aren't." Sapphire answered coldly, shutting the elder up instantly. "You can easily kill them all, can't you? Yet you chose to let my entire family and species die. You could have saved them, even defeated Kesshō if you wanted to, but you didn't, right? So now be quiet and sit and watch like you did so far, rotten ice sculpture."
The elder looked towards Sapphire unable to say anything as Sapphire's words embedded themselves like arrows in her mind. Winter also seemed shaken from Sapphire's sudden coldness, unable to react to everything happening so suddenly. Sapphire tilted her head to the side just as a light spear cut through the air towards her, missing and flying past her. Sapphire turned her attention back to the hero, her entire bloodlust directed at him.
"You have some guts attacking a hero in that way." The Hero grunted, walking towards Sapphire.
"You are no better than a demon lord, worse even." Sapphire snarled as she took a fighting stance.
Blue lines shot through Sapphire's arms and legs as she clenched her fists and prepared to attack, not feeling the need to use her katana. The Hero pointed his longsword forwards and dashed towards Sapphire just as she dashed towards him. Increasing the power in her legs Sapphire shot past the hero before he could swing, stopping behind him, cracking the ground where she planted her feet.
Jumping towards him she tornado kicked him as he turned towards her, knocking his head backwards, almost off his shoulders. Landing back on her feet Sapphire instantly jumped back up and drop-kicked the hero, using the force to backflip and land perfectly in the snow. The Hero staggered a few steps backwards before regaining his balance.
Gritting his teeth in annoyance he shot several light spears towards Sapphire from magic circles. Sapphire dodged them with minimum movement, slowly walking towards him. A Royal Knight sneaked up on her from behind and raised his longsword to attack her. As he brought his sword down to slash her she sidestepped it, turning around in an instant and punching her fist through his abdomen, leaving a hole in his body as she pulled out her hand. His body fell lifelessly to the ground, getting absorbed by shadowy tendrils than emerged from her shadow.
The Hero swung his sword towards her, unleashing a wide Light Slash. Just at that moment many other knights shot at Sapphire with Light spears. With no room left to dodge, Sapphire took in a deep breath and gripped the hilt of her katana.
"Shadow Swordstyle: Betraying Darkness." Sapphire mumbled as she unsheathed her katana.
Sapphire disappeared from her spot, dispersing into several shadow patches that scattered around everywhere, moving through the crowd of knights who were starting to gather. Sapphire appeared out of the many shadows, along with several Shadow Warriors, killing many knights with shadow slashes before disappearing again in the shadows.
The Hero stayed on his guard to block her if she appeared near him, but she kept slaughtering the knights, completely ignoring him. He stepped forward to command his knights and aid them but just then he heard a heavy breath behind him. Her turned in an instant and swung his sword in a wide horizontal slash. Sapphire's body remained in the air as the slash approached her, directly in its path. Using her left hand to push down the blade, Sapphire used it as support for her body, turning on it and kicking the Hero in the head, sending his body staggering to the side.
The Hero dropped his longsword as he staggered, unsheathing his great sword as soon as he regained control of his movements. He turned around in an instant, slashing Sapphire in half, but she swapped with a Shadow Warrior before he could, the real one now standing some distance behind him
"We had a deal!" The Hero shouted at the elder. "Stop this little devil, now!"
Before the elder could respond Sapphire cut her off. "Whatever your deal may have been it doesn't apply to me. That is not my superior or anyone I need to listen to, if anything I should kill her as well," Sapphire snarled. "Winter?" She called out.
"Yes?" Winter inquired, tilting her head.
"Can you take care of the pests for me?" Sapphire requested with a smile as she glanced at the gathering knights.
Winter bowed slightly. "Sub-zero." Winter called out activating a wide range ice spell. Several icy spears formed in the ground around Winter, travelling outwards in a spiral in waves, impaling and killing much of the remaining human army. But along with those, the spell also killed many of the wolves, and injured many more.
"What do you think you are doing?" Icicle and the elder questioned in rage, both furious at Winter killing other wolves.
"I do as my alpha orders." Winter replied before turning away and going to attack the remainder army, paying no mind to the two.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Harming your own kind is truly despicable." The Hero grunted in disgust.
"They are not of my kind, they are the ones who let my kind die. They are of Winter's kind, but they abandoned her as well. I would have killed all of them myself if I didn't have other important things to do right now," Sapphire hissed. "So, let's just end this right away, Winter, come here."
"As you wish." Winter agreed dashing to Sapphire's side, both standing with their backs to each other.
All twenty five of Sapphire's Shadow Warriors stationed themselves between the army, spread out in a wide area all around.
"Frostbound World of Darkness." Winter and Sapphire chanted in unison as Sapphire stabbed her katana into the ground.
Ice formed around the two in the shape of a blooming Midnight lily, turning black in just a moment and shooting out in waves of shadowy ice. The same happened around every Shadow Warrior, but on a smaller scale. The ice impaled and washed over all ghe knights, and many of the nearby wolves, killing everything caught in it.
The attack covered the entire area in black ice, no one still standing there other than Sapphire and Winter, the others having fled further away. The elder and the alphas survived still, having protected many of the other wolves of their kind with them. None of the humans were able to survive the attack, except the Hero who broke out of the ice just as Sapphire wondered if he died as well.
He survived, but still seemed to be in terrible condition, panting loudly, his breath visible in the air. His armor appeared to have been badly damaged and completely broken at some places, his greatsword chipped along one edge. Sapphire looked at him and slowly walked towards him as Winter dropped to her knees from exhaustion.
"You were saving such an attack from the start? You prepared this attack long ago to save it for a dire situation?" The Hero panted.
"No," Sapphire answered. "Using such an attack in the start would leave us both exhausted and Kesshō could easily wipe out anyone here after that, so it would make sense. But, we didn't prepare this beforehand, we came up with it just now."
"You just created such a spell?" The Hero gasped.
"Yes, Winter is ready to follow my lead in anything, and she did just that," Sapphire replied.
"You are a monster, comparable only to that monster," The Hero sighed.
"No, I am not like her." Sapphire shook her head as she stood in front of the Hero. "I am far better than her." She decapitated the Hero with a quick swing, turning back towards Winter as her shadow devoured the hero's body. I won't lose to anyone except her, and even if I lose a hundred times to her, I will win in the end. Sapphire grunted in her mind as she returned to Winter.
"Are you okay?" She inquired as she crouched beside her.
"Just a bit tired after doing that, you seem fine gladly," Winter panted. Sapphire let Winter place her arm around her neck helped her stand up.
"Let's go, this place is not for us, we will find a place to belong, in some other world if not this one," Sapphire sighed.
"You can search for it, mine is wherever you go," Winter smiled. Sapphire blushed at the statement and hugged her, Winter more than happily returning the hug and patting Sapphire on the head.
"Do you really believe we will allow you to leave alive after doing all this." Icicle snarled, standing some distance away, accompanied by Storm, Rose and the elder.
"Neither of you three oversized dogs are comparable to father, and if the elder interferes The Creator will kill her, I am quite certain there is nothing stopping us from leaving." Sapphire informed as she turned to the four.
The three alphas looked at the elder as her eyes widened in horror.
"Am I wrong? Rank third of the six Immortals?" Sapphire questioned. "You wouldn't wish to draw his attention and rage now, would you? Fi escaped because she didn't do anything for either side, and I doubt she would have wished for anyone to die, but you? You were the one who planned the extinction of the Midnights, didn't you? I am certain you are already stepping on thin ice by even accompanying these three weaklings right now, you should probably go into hiding in some cave."
The elder simply lowered her head and sighed. "You are not wrong for the most part, but I have no need to be afraid of The Creator, he needs the Immortals more than he needs you, I am an indispensable part of all this, you are not." Ice spears formed around the elder as she glared at Sapphire.
Sapphire shook her head at Winter, just about to attack to defend Sapphire, gesturing her to stand down. Winter raised her brow at her, only for Sapphire to place her hand on her shoulder and step in front.
"You are too much of a threat, you know too much about everything, the other ones are allowed to roam free due to their limited knowledge, but you are troublesome. It seems your species will go fully extinct today afterall." The elder sighed as she unleashed the barrage of ice spears.
Sapphire stood there as the ice spears approached, unfazed and unbothered. They exploded into clouds of snow dust as they got close to her, not harming her or Winter in the slightest. The elder's eyes widened as she stared at the snow, a smirk visible on Sapphire's face.
"You put too much faith in me." The Creator observed, standing beside Sapphire.
"From what my mother told me, you didn't seem like one to go back on your word," Sapphire responded.
The Creator looked at her with his blank face for a moment, sighing and walking towards the elder right after. "You have stepped past the line, and I would believe you are aware of the consequences." The Creator called out to the elder as he walked ahead.
She seemed to be completely frozen in place from fear, her eyes widened in terror, simply watching helplessly as The Creator got close to her. The three alphas stepped away, far too afraid to stand in his path or anywhere near him.
"Lyranse knew not to meddle too much in my affairs, he even chose to stay and watch from the sidelines after stepping too close to the boundaries. Fi has my permission to do as she wishes, she has no desire for harming other unless necessary. As for you, you were told to sit in your hole with your beloved Winter wolves, yet you meddled in my affairs and wiped out one of the founding species, while knowing these were the last ones in existence in all worlds." The Creator grunted as be grabbed the elder by her neck, her eyes bulging. Jumping out of the shadows Sapphire kicked at The Creator, but he dodged it by backstepping and releasing the Elder.
"I will be the one to kill her, not you." Sapphire growled, standing her ground, not afraid in the slightest.
Winter stood there, frozen stiff, too shook to even blink. The three alphas were also dumbfounded by her boldness. Even the elder looked at her as if she were insane. The Creator looked at her for a moment with his blank face before bursting into laughter.
"This is why you are one of my favorites." He laughed, patting Sapphire on the head as he approached her. "If that is as you wish, then so be it, she is confined to this world from now on, feel free to kill her whenever you return." The Creator informed as he created a portal to leave again.
"Can you answer some of my questions?" Sapphire inquired in a pleading voice.
The Creator stopped and thought for a short while. "Not now, I have visitors, but I will answer all your questions soon enough, when the time comes. I will come myself when it's time you need not worry, I will answer all your questions and if you ever have any more after that, feel free to call for me, I won't disappoint you."
"Is Kesshō meant to be stronger than me?" Sapphire questioned, ignoring the Creator's words.
"Perhaps, she simply started out first, having been fighting for far longer than you her skills are sharper and she has more experience. She has trained to hone her sword skills to the level they are at currently, and she continues to train them still. Train, get stronger and smarter if you wish to ever surpass her," The Creator answered.
"Do you think I can ever surpass her?" Sapphire inquired.
"Yes, if anyone can, then it's you." The Creator answered as he walked through the portal, closing it just as he left.
Sapphire stood there silently for a short while, staring where the portal closed. The elder fell to her knees after the Creator left, breathing heavily and coughing. Sapphire sighed as she walked towards the elder, kicking her in the chest with all her strength before walking back to Winter.
The three alphas growled at her, none daring to attack or go after her, not even the elder. Winter smiled at her friend, the two walking away together as Sapphire supported Winter, looking for a place to stay and rest for the time, both of them exhausted.
