Part 1

"I am the Lady of Gold. I am the Princess of the Land." This bold proclamation came from the Golden Princess, a vain and arrogant willed noble with an adoration of all things golden. Her ego was as high as the heavens, and her wealth greater than the deepest fortune the mightiest dragon might hold. Her most prized possession, however, was a golden statue, as vain and arrogant as her. She loved this statue with all her heart, but the statue did not love her. It only loved itself. Yet even so, it swore fealty to her, the Golden Princess. Its metal pristine and polished, it never needed to be cared for. Superior to the other statues, a myriad of weaker metals. Valuable and timeless, this Statue truly had no equal. *I am the most beautiful in the land,* the Statue surmised, gazing upon its visage upon the mirror. Its were not the only eyes upon himself; the other statues could only fall to their knees at his lustrous sheen, his glorious presence.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

However, only one statue did not keep his gaze on It. A statue of bronze, an ugly, brown metal. Durable and hardy, timeless as gold, but unloved for its tacky appearance. It was the metal of peasants, of industry. Not like Gold, the metal of high born and nobility. Its lifeless eyes were centered solely on the Lady in the room, her hair a brilliant golden color. Her eyes too, were golden, but they did not meet the bronze statue's. No, her gaze was also upon the Golden Statue, callously flaunting its presence for all to see.

You see, the Bronze Statue loved the Princess very dearly. It loved her with all of its heart, but for all its efforts, it went unacknowledged. It would be one thing to be stared at in disgust, to be disdained, because even then, it was a sign that she had noticed him. But no, he was below her. Only that brilliant metal could ever hope to catch her gaze.
