Passing through under the open archway I take in my surroundings, its more or less exactly what you would expect of a guildhall, a long counter filled with attendants dealing with people and a few dozen doors some labeled some not even a few that were guarded and a staircase that lead upstairs that was being used quite frequently. After a moment of looking I feel a light shove behind me.
“Hey man move it!”
I walk all the way in and mumble a quick “sorry” as I figure the best bet would be to just walk up to one of the attendants, I decide on the shortest line that didn't also belong to the guy who bumped, after about 15 minutes of people walking up to the attendant and being ushered either upstairs, to one of the side rooms or just leaving, it was finally my chance. As I was about to say a greeting she cut me off.
“Welcome to the hall what business do you have today?”
After a moment processing her words I respond.
“Yea I was looking for a place to train skills as well and pick up quests.”
“The dungeon hall has access to both services for members, can I assume based on the question that you are not currently a member?”
“That's correct, how would one go about joining?”
“simple enough a one time payment of five gold is enough for the card and services have a weekly cost of 1 silver to access.”
After she says that I sigh in relief that i came here before buying supplies.
“Alright sounds good, how do I go about signing up?"
“Just have to ask a few questions.” she says as she pulls out a pen and paper.
“What's your name?”
“Gloom” I respond.
“Of your combat skills, including magic do you have any above common rank?”
“No they are all common.”
“Do you have magical aptitude and if you do what is your discipline?”
“Yes, and I assume sorcery would be my discipline?”
“Sorcery is in fact a discipline, what element are you blessed with?”
“Fog.”
After saying my element she raises an eyebrow and asks a follow up question.
“Do you mind proving that, nothing destructive please.”
After she asks I give a slight shrug and use create to call some mist into being.
“Okay so you have a pretty rare elemental affinity, so I assume you are a magic focused build?”
“No actually I'm a rogue, the magic is supplemental.”
She looks at me like I'm crazy for a few seconds before shaking her head and before finishing writing down my information before putting it in a box that looks kind of like a paper shredder before asking me one last question.
“Oh yea do you already have a personal interface?”
“Like this one?” I respond while summoning my phone and pointing it towards her.
“Yup alright I'll get you the badge that can be attached to the interface, it will grant you some extra uses in your interface but they should be simple enough to figure out so no need for an explanation if you have any questions feel free to ask any attendant here.”
While she says that she pushes a button on the box and the papers start to sink into the box and are replaced by a small card that she pulls out and offers it to me.
“Just place this in the interface and it should ask to update, select yes.”
After she finishes I do as she says

“Isn't this a bit simple for what amounts to my guild Id?”
“This is just a way to the important info quickly, the real important stuff can be proved by inspecting your interface rather than that page.”
“That makes sense.” And with a nod I pull out 5 gold and one silver coin to hand to her while asking a follow up question.
“Where can I find somewhere to do some skill training?”
She points at a door that says “Facilities” and instructs me to find a door labeled Common training. And with a wave I wish her well and a “Goodbye” as I follow her instructions, finding the prescribed room I enter and find myself in a large room with training dummies, shrugging I find one not being used and walk up to and use the identify function on my interface.
Training dummy (rare)
A training tool with a mild
enchantment that uses
ambient mana to restore
itself. Quite useful for
training.
I guess I should start the dagger ones, pulling out a dagger I stand about two feet away and shrug before stabbing at the dummy, feeling the dagger sink into the dummy I pull it back out and attempt to stab the same place harder, it took about 5 minutes of repetitions before I got the skill
stab lvl 1 (common)
Increases accuracy and
power of stab attacks.
Okay that was simple enough lets move on to the next one, this time I start slashing at the dummy prioritizing speed and power rather than aim this time, getting into the groove of things it only takes 3 minutes this time before I get the skill.
Slash lvl 1 (common)
Increases speed of and
power of slash attacks.
For some reason looking at this skill I feel something is off, and right before giving up on the mystery it clicks, these aren't the skills from the tutorial, the ones in the tutorial had dagger in the name like my throwing skill. Does that mean I can also learn a generic throwing skill to double up on the benefits? Trying to think of a way to test that I look around the room for someone else with a throwing weapon, there aren't any other dagger wielders, but there is a guy with a spear, I decide to ask him about these skills. walking up to him when he takes a moment to breathe I wave at him.
“Hey man I have a question.”
“what's up man?”
“Do you have the Spear throwing skill?”
“Nah man my throw skill is still common, I wont have a chance to get that till uncommon at the earliest, and with my luck I will probably be stuck with the default skill till rare. Also you must be new around here its rude to ask strangers about their skills.” he answers and throws a sly wink at the end.
“Yea sorry I was just curious if I could borrow a Spear to get my throwing skill? I'm having trouble unlocking it using my daggers ya know.” I follow up with hoping his answer means I can get the generic skill as well as the specialized one.
“Yea go for it.” He says as he tosses me a spear.
taking a moment to say “Thanks” before I walk a few dummies over and stand about ten feet away and begin chucking, I manage to land a solid hit to the torso within a few tries and it secures me the generic skill.
Throw lvl 1 (common)
Increases accuracy and
power of thrown objects.
And like that I guess I need to get the generic skill for Monster butcher and Dexterity. I assume Butcher would be the generic one for Monster butcher but what is the generic skill for Dexterity? I guess I could just do the stuff I did in the tutorial and that might work. So saying I hand the guy his spear back with a thanks and find a nice area near my original dummy to get my yoga on and I begin with the same school stretches, I keep going till the telltale ding goes off and I check my skills
*Dexterity lvl 2^ (Common)
increases range of movement and
reaction time as well as control
over your body.
Huh well that's a disappointment, well I don't feel like doing anymore stretches for the day so I guess I'll figure that mystery out later for now time to finish the rest I can get done now. I run back and forth in the room for a bit before I get the next skill.
Movement lvl 1 (common)
Increases speed when moving.
I guess that's the generic version of Running, makes sense I suppose. I'm probably only going to be able to get dodge while I'm here I need some help though.
“Hey how's it going fancy to see you again, hey could you help me out I'm trying to get the Dodge skill, do you mind sparring with me for a bit?” I asked the spear guy from earlier.
“Sure I don't mind I assume you already got Block and Deflect if your going for Dodge.”
This draws a blank from me, I was focusing on completing the tutorial list I should of thought of those. I can tell spear guy sees the embarrassment on my face.
“You were planning on focusing on Dodge weren't you” he says while laughing. “C'mon man I'll help you get all three” And as he says that he grabs a pointless spear and tosses it my way. “lets start with block, I'm sure you can figure out what to do.” He says with a chuckle before getting in a spearman's stance and charging.
“Holy shit” I have to block quickly or else I'll be jabbed. After about five minutes of the most tiring training so far I finally hear the bell and raise a hand.
“I got it.“
“Good now lets work on Deflect.”
“Wait what!” I can barely that out before he charges me again. this time it only takes me about three minutes to hear the ring. before I even get the chance to talk he beats me to it.
“I see you got that one too prepare yourself, get ready to dodge.”
“Oh come on man.” I say resigned and without a break we are back at it in an instant. Again this one only takes three minutes before the ring, this time I don't even bother saying anything and just collapse on the spot. Before I hear another ring.
“Wait what a forth one?” I groan out in confusion.
“Hah glad to see that worked, go ahead check your skills. No need to thank me.” I'm not looking but I can practically hear his smirk.
Forcing myself to a sitting position I summon my interface and check my new skills

“You're a bastard” I manage to get out between breaths before giving him a smile.
“Glad to see that went well. C'mon now back up lets get you to level 2 in all those.” I look up a mix of fear and awe in my eyes after taking a moment to breathe I stand up and get back in position.
After training with spearguy for a bit he heads out and I work on my offensive ability's for awhile. After about an hour of training I think I'm ready for my first quest.

Looking over my skills it feels like I'm leveling too quickly, I should ask someone about how skills work in this game some time.
