Chapter 1 : The Unknown

God was having the time of his endless life. Truly. Nothing could ever be better then watching some random, overpowered dude go around punishing criminals, saving the world (mainly heroines though) and getting a harem full of cute girls.

He still wondered why all the reincarnees think that getting lots of girls in their harem is fun. Well, He does technically know since omnipotence and all, but still. It's nice to pretend ignorance.

Soon, however, something draws him away from his por... show. He could feel something happening inside of the Void, something he can't immediately tell exactly what it is. And not knowing means not being ready for, not being ready for means danger, danger is bad, so bad has to be studied throughtly. Yes, God is really smart, He knows.

Arriving in the void with his true body (Essentially a small ball of light), He looks around and finds... well, nothing. You know, nothingness and all.

Still, his senses are telling him that something is happening. He doesn't know what, where or when yet, but hopefully he will. Soon. Cause' that's how it always work. Plot armor and all.

And indeed he doesn't have to wait long for something to appear.

The void itself began to twist and turn in an impossible manner, since nothingness can't move, however, this isn't a place where god exists for nothing so fuck physics. Fuck it real hard.

Then, as God looked on, somewhat flabbargasted, something began to appear from all the spacial chaos. Examining it with his senses, God finds himself stupified that he has no fucking idea of what the thing is.

If seen by the eyes of a human, the thing looks like darkness in gasseous form. Pure darkness with no light whatsoever in it, sort of like a very small black hole that floats around and doesn't suck things in. Oh, correction, it does try to eat things though, as when God formed a divine hand and put it through the darkness, it quite literally ate the hand.

Now depressed, God slowly directs the black gas out of the void and into the universe. He doesn't want to risk the thing simply going off on it's own and causing chaos... it might risk not creating enough! All hail chaos and randomness.

Once outside the void, God releases the darkness and watches as it... well, just sorta floats around. Unsatisfied, god probes inside of it with his senses, but is suprised to find that his divine energy He was using was devoured the moment it reached deep enough in the darkness.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Although God isn't actually a genius like He claims to be, He still is God. If He wasn't able to notice the darkness expanding, even though it was only a couple centimeters, He would probably have to hang himself out of shame.

Wondering what to do with the thing, God began experimenting on the darkness.

Although the results were satisfactory, they were also very strange.

X, as God had taken to calling the thing, did not actually have any sort of consciousness. This was proven in various ways, like hanging 'food' in front of it, but it didn't react.

Another thing God discovered was that X could literally devour any and all creation. By eating, it would gain more 'mass' and get bigger and denser.

A little disappointed, God pondered over what to do with the thing. With a flash of inspiration, He teleported away from his divine plane and reappeared in front of a tree the size of multiple suns combined.

After exchanging messages with the Universal Tree, the tree reluctanctly gave God one of it's most precious fruits: The Enlightment Apple.

Thanking the tree, God teleported back over to his divine plane and stood in front of X, who as always, was simply eating away at all creation around it in a very simplistic manner. Eat and grow to the extreme, really.

With an excited smile, God threw the apple inside the black hole that was X and watched as the apple disappeared inside of it.

X froze the moment the apple had entered it's insides. A strange transformation began to accour, something that should only have happened much, much later in it's life.

Slowly, ripples of a bloody red began to surface on the black ball that was X. Then, the ripples slowly converged into two different points.

Watching curiously, God suddently felt something was very, very wrong. However, before He could act, two huge, bloody red eyes emanating a feeling of pure hunger fixed themselves on him.

Looking at the eyes in shock, God suddently felt something He hadn't felt ever since his creation from immemorial times. Fear. Pure and all-encompassing fear.

He could only watch in horror as X exploded in a fit of hunger, devouring all the divine essence composing his plane. Awaken from his shock, God tried to flee.

Just as he was about to exit the plane, however, X launched itself forward towards God. Forming a huge mouth large enough to devour a city, it bit down on God.

God screamed out in pain as he felt at least half of his essence be devoured by X. However, he couldn't do much about it. He had tested it before, and X was completely immune to basically all magical, astral and divine attacks, much less physical attacks, so the only option was to flee.

And flee He did. He gasped for breath even though he didn't need it and felt as X finished devouring his divine plane and left, heading towards a different universe.

God suddently recalled a memory, something He received from the first day of his life by an unknown entity.

"Remember, child. One day, a tribulation will come to this multiverse. Although I cannot help you, remember this: Whilst fighting will lead to the end, the end will require love."

And so, from that day, the event known by all deities, immortals and other powerful enough being was forever hetched into history: The War of the Devourer
