The driver kinda takes care of the new recruits, too.
Knowing that the recruits would be interested in the Nuit base, he didn't rush too much into the base, slowing down to hover a few times outside of it.
It drifted for a good two or three minutes before the transport changed direction and flew into one of the base's receiving ports.
Click!
Rookies, pack up, and get off the plane.
With a soft thud, the base receiving port closed, and the radio sounded again.
The crowd got up and took their luggage out of the cargo boxes overhead while they disembarked one by one.
[Recruits, please go straight ahead and bring your ID card to the guidance hall to check and take the next transport according to the result of the check.]
Just off the plane, you can see that a large screen is lit up in front of you.
This is the receiving port, where transports often come in and out and have to be pressurized and depressurized from time to time. It is considered one of the most dangerous parts of Nutbase.
So there's no guidance staff here; there are just a couple of techs in full wraparound coveralls on duty.
At the urging of the transporter pilot, the recruits moved their feet and headed for the gate on the side of the receiving port access.
... ... ...
After walking through the two protective confinement doors, the guidance hall arrives.
What comes next is simple.
It's the same old story: query, find your way, board, and finally take a transporter to the starship.
The wait was a bit long in the middle, though.
After all, not all recruits were going to serve on Mars, and there was more than one transporter.
So, I waited most of an hour for the transporter to fill up.
Once aboard the starship, the recruits would have liked to get off and take a tour of the ship but were stopped by the pilot.
The pilot said that the starship would be sailing soon and that no one other than technicians would be allowed to walk through the receiving ports.
It turns out the driver didn't fool them.
Within minutes of boarding the starship, the pilot informed the recruits to sit tight, that the starship had detached from the Nuit base and was ready to head for Mars.
It's worth noting that the starship was underway.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
The crowd sitting in the starship's internal transporter couldn't even feel a single tremor.
Immediately following was a trance felt by all.
The trance came and went quickly.
By the time the radio came on again, the pilot actually said that the starship was on top of Mars.
FTL!
Looking at the time displayed on the public screen in the cabin, Jack's mind dawned on him.
As we all know, the Earth and Mars both orbit the Sun.
So, the distance between Earth and Mars varies according to the orbit around the Sun, with real-time distances that are closer and farther apart.
The distance between Earth and Mars this year is close to 400 million kilometers.
Four hundred million kilometers, even at the speed of light, would take twenty-two minutes to travel.
And now that less than four minutes had passed, it was clear that the starship had turned on FTL and probably made a string jump halfway through.
Tasteless ......
Jack mentally sputtered that the first interstellar voyage, the first FTL experience, had ended so hastily.
Also, the feds are really stingy.
The Federation has a technology in its hands called the Antimatter Force Field Generator.
Once turned on, this generator creates an anti-state force field that counteracts the side effects of entering FTL, allowing one to break out of the time segment of infinity.
It now appears that only the bridge area has an antimatter force field generator installed.
Jack, are we there yet?
By the time the transporter broke away from the starship and headed for Mars, Rico was still in a daze, obviously not having gotten over it.
Almost there.
Jack whispered back; judging by the vibrations in the cabin, the transport was already descending at a high rate of speed.
... ... ...
After sitting still for about three minutes, the transport finally landed.
Led by two pilots, the group disembarked with their luggage to a playground.
The playground was very large, much larger than any of the Academy's stadiums, and the Jack Circle was enclosed by a high wall with a circle of large space capsules affixed to the foot of the wall.
The capsule is a simple house, easy to disassemble and install, and can be interpreted as a military camping tent.
Rookies, be quiet.
The pilot shouted, catching the attention of the crowd and pointing to the south side of the playground, saying, Look over there; the biggest capsule is the work hall.
Now, everyone goes to the work hall, picks up their recruit handbook and daily necessities, and finds their quarters according to the information in the recruit handbook.
An instructor will meet you in the dormitory at 8:00 p.m. You are free to move around until then, and your ID card is your access card.
By the way, there are ten boot camps here, so if you are not assigned to this camp, then get a guide to show you the way to the boot camp you are in.
The driver went into great detail, and the recruits understood and headed for the work hall in unison.
... ... ...
Ten minutes in and out.
Shift!
I obviously didn't have any contraband with me, but they took it anyway.
By the time he left the work hall and searched for quarters along the boot camp fence, Rico's face was black.
He brought two large suitcases and ended up with only two sets of underwear; the rest of his stuff was confiscated.
Wisdom is the most valuable asset of mankind.
Jack gloated and lamented while patting his small suitcase.
He didn't know what Rico was thinking, inquiring so much, but only what he could and couldn't bring in the army.
Or maybe Rico took a chance.
Bring your own shower gel shampoo, toothpaste, and even a pillow quilt. Is this the army as a summer camp?
Dude, don't take it personally.
The recruiter's handbook says that the army will prepare our living supplies and put them in our bunks.
Allen looked over the recruit's manual with a serious expression.
He felt lucky to have met Rico and Jack right after he left Earth, and now he was even sorted into the same boot camp and the same class.
Before, he was worried that he would be bullied when he entered the boot camp, but now he was much more at ease.
Come on, don't be a pussy.
Get it done early to go to lunch and wander around boot camp for the afternoon.
Jack tapped Rico on the shoulder, and he saw the dormitory.
The three of them were assigned to the third class of the No. 1 Recruit Camp, which was the No. 1 Recruit Camp, so all they had to do was find their dormitory.
