Discussions in the Dark <4>

They returned back to the mound, the wall opening up with a wave of Carthurs hand. In his other sat the little moth, legs all tired out from trying to race the two back home.

“You were sooo fast!!”, she shouted excitedly as she ran up to them both, “And you were all shiny!”

“I was using magic to boost my speed, Urath on the other hand is all natural stats!” Carthur explained.

“Could I do it too?!”

“With the right class, sure!”

“I’m going to get the bestest class, and- and then I’ll have the prettiest lights!!” she explained, getting a chuckle from both of them as Carthur opened the entrance to the cave.

As Urath and Carthur worked on something, the little moth went to her corner and whispered to the system.

“[System]! How do I get a class?”

The smallest screen yet opened up.

It looked... different to the rest.

Reach Level 10

Looking over to Urath and Carthur, she was quickly distracted by her thoughts.

Urath took out the stone slab from earlier, breaking up some of the mushrooms and preserved meat on top, as Carthur channelled manna through it to heat it all up. With a little water and spices, a scent even more intense then the last hit her antenna drawing her over only for Carthur to stop her.

“You know you can’t eat that, right?” he reprimanded her, bringing up the day before before carrying her back to her corner, where he set her to sleep, bringing forth that same feeling she failed to understand before. It felt like safety.

She fell asleep before getting a chance to say anything.

Carthur sat examining one of the pearls taken from the countless flowers blooming above just through the thin-ish roof that offered them shelter.

They were quite interesting things. [Pearls] were rather valuable in any form, but the manna held inside theses could easily change that. Not that he knew what that manna was, though that was never too surprising here, every couple steps could lead to its own manna climate so it was more a case of how it could be harnessed in already known ways.

These would make some good lanterns.

There was also a question of how it got here. With the shear quantity here there had to be an origin source, yet the rapid decrease in manna surrounding them made that unlikely. Whatever it was, Carthur had an idea to where it all went.

“What’s it look like?” Urath asked, leaning against the nearby wall.

“I’d say it’s looking quite blue indeed!”

“Carthur!” she was carefully keeping her voice low, not wanting to wake the little moth.

“No, really.” Carthur continued, “It’s not good. At least If my suspicions are correct that is...

Waking Host...

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

The little moth was slowly roused from her sleep by whispers between Urath and Carthur she could just about hear.

“We don’t know how long it stretches!” Urath said to a guilty looking Carthur.

“I know, I know... urgh, I put her asleep already and everything, she won’t be a problem.” He explained. “I just... I feel bad leaving her like this...”

“We can’t get back here, you know this! She... wouldn’t understand”

Leaping off of the ground, the little moth raced over crying, grabbing onto Urath before she could react. She screamed as louder than her little form looked capable of.

“DONT LEAVE ME!!

Urath kneels down to comfort her, tears streaming down her own face, taking her into her arms. “We’re not leaving... I- we were just planning for tomorrows outing!" Carthur joined Urath in carrying their little moth back. “Let’s get you back to sleep.”

“NO!!”

“We’ll be with you the entire time, I promise”

With a lot of convincing and a little magic, they both get her down, lying either side as her small hands tried their best to keep them close. It took a while for her to finally sleep once again.

“I mean, I’ve got no one waiting on me...?” she looks over to Carthur who looks equally sombre.

“’Don’t get attached to the locals’, huh?”

“Ahhh what’s a few decades? I’m sure we’ll survive.” He replied.
