Turmoil

The exact moment Drew's plane disappeared. All populations that bordered near the pacific ocean saw the humongous Hurricane. Its sheer size; made Hollywood movies about the end of the world look like child's play. The Hurricane's clouds were black in color and had covered over the whole sea and land. The sun also disappeared, turning day into night. With shock, horror, and amazement, people couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the lightning illuminating the darkness and showing hundreds of tornadic waterspouts and a massive figure in the middle.

Nearly as fast as it came, it disappeared. People on the streets and buildings were left dumbfounded by what they just saw. The only ones still not knowing the sheer terror that just happened; were those far away from the pacific ocean, including the families of the seniors back in Michigan.

Minutes after the events transpired, news reached the White House and the President.

"Mr. President, we have to get you into safety." said a panicked attendant near him.

"No, I must address the public first, before anarchy has the chance to descend on the coastal States." The President had a calm but authoritative voice.

"Mr. President, it could be a foreign attack from China or Russia; We have to be ready to respond!" Said an anxious advisor near him.

"If they had a weapon like that, hidden right under our noses, they would have already had the power to take control over the world. Could you imagine the destruction and devastation over a whole country with such power that can spawn in a blink of an eye? Not even our strongest weapon, a nuclear bomb, could be comparable unless we unleash our whole arsenal! But at that point, we would end the world ourselves!" The President was livid and frustrated.

"Now, prepare the podium for a news conference. Also, expect that we won't be getting much sleep over the next few weeks." With a firm gaze, the President stared at all incoming reports.

Similar talks were being held by all world leaders while the whole world started to find out what happened with social media. Pictures and Videos of the storm were spreading like a wildfire. One of the most trending posts was the hurricane having a human-like silhouette and lightning slithering around it.

Couple of hours later...

Once the President got on the podium he was bombarded by questions.

"MR. PRESIDENT... MR. PRESIDENT, do you have any explanation as to what that cataclysm event was?" Said a male reporter in a hurry.

"Right now, we have no plausible explanation on those events and are in talks with all world leaders about this situation. So far, we presumably believe, that it is not any countries weapon." The President finished his statement, and the next question came in fast like a bullet.

"Mr. President, how bad is the situation in the coastal cities? are there any deaths?" Said a bold female reporter.

"The storm appeared and quickly disappeared as it came. Luckily there were no disasters in the cities, near the coast. We will still have disaster relief crews and the military on the ready if another storm comes. We ask all citizens to remain home and close up shops and businesses until further notice." Said the President in a cautious tone. The next question came in.

"Mr. President, What is the situation for air flights and ship vessels around the world?" Another reporter asked.

"All sea ships are in the process of returning to port. Reports state that some were badly damaged by lightning strikes but aren't stranded; the death toll is still unknown. As for flights, almost all have returned safely with minimal damage. Sadly, we know that one plane is still unaccounted for, with its crew, and 300+ passenger students and teachers still missing." The President looked at the reporters and cameras somberly.

"Mr. President, are you not sending search and rescue groups?" asked the same reporter from the last question.

"We can not send anyone out to sea and search for them when that storm could come at any sec..."Before the president could continue, he was interrupted.

"Mr. President, are you saying that we are abandoning them!" Multiple reporters were shocked and fuming with anger.

"Those that wish to take the risk and search in a vast ocean will be allowed to go, but know that the coast guard won't be there to rescue you if you fall into peril. They will only give you one last warning before you head out to sea. We need the coast guards on standby in case the worst should happen." The President said with a straight face, with a hint of no emotion.

With that, the room fell into silence...

"We are investigating the situation still with NASA and are having them pull up satellite images of the storm to figure out how it formed. Please be patient and stay safe. We will reveal more information once it comes in, that is all." Before the President could leave the conference room, he heard an interesting statement from a reporter.

"WAITTT... MR. PRESIDENT, there was a news interview with one of the pilots, that was near the storm. He said he saw a hand made out of dark clouds and lightning grab a plane and sink it inside the hurricane as he tried to desperately escape!" The room fell into silence once again.

"Can't his statement mean tha...tha...that is the missing plane and the pictures spreading through social media are connected?" A frightened young reporter that looked like a newbie asked.

"I'll have to look into this report. In the meantime, I don't want to jump onto baseless rumors. As for now, my fellow citizens. Please stay safe and follow instructions from the military personal, for your safety and of others." Those parting words left the reporters without room to ask any more questions.

Back in Michigan, all families of the missing students had gathered at the school. Government officials were also there to talk with each parent. The mood was absolutely tragic and saddening, with parents in tears wanting to know what had happened to their children.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T SEND RESCUE BOATS OR CHOPPERS!" Mr. Roy stood up, enraged by the Government official's words.

"Mr. Roy, by order from the President, rescue can't be sent. It is still unknown what had caused the storm. Please wait, whil..." Before the government official could continue, he was punched hard in the face by Roy.

"I DON'T GIVE A SINGLE FUCK, MY DAUGHTER IS STILL OUT THERE! I...I... need to save her..." Tears started rolling down his face replacing the anger that was just there. "I know she's waiting for me to save her..." He fell onto his knees crying; while looking up towards the heavens for answers that would not come.

The government official stopped the police officers from grabbing Mr. Roy and nodded for them to step back.

"Mr. Roy, I can't begin to imagine the pain and sorrow in your heart." Without hesitation, the government official grabbed Roy by the arm and, with surprising strength, made him stand up. "But as a father, I would go through Hell and back for my children. The only advice I could give you is to look up any nonprofit search and rescue organizations looking for volunteers to go. They are based around coastal cities and could use your help, and since you're one of the parents, it will raise the morale of the rescuers if they have you with them."

Mr. Roy looked straight into the government-officials eyes and, with a tear-stained face, gave the strongest nod a Father could give. "Could you put me in contact with one of those organizations? I can head out as soon as tonight!" With vigor restored, Roy was ready to search for his daughter.

Mr. Roy wasn't the only parent in the room with this conversation! Other parents were gathering and discussing on what to do with Mr. Roy, as the head in the discussion.

Drew's family was devastated. His Father and Mother left their children with a relative while they went to the schools meeting. Drew's father was about to get up and discuss with Roy, but his wife stopped him.

"Brandon, if you leave with Roy, you'll risk leaving us alone as well. Please don't go; I can't bear to lose you too." Melina desperately grabbed Brandon's sleeve with tears falling from her eyes.

"Lina, how could I just stay still and not do anything? While Roy and the other Parents are about to risk life and limb for the chance to save their children?" Brandon was breaking on the inside while looking at Melina.

It was at this point, where Brandon and Roy locked eyes.

Roy walked towards Brandon and Melina with determination and stopped right in front of both of them. "Brandon, you're not thinking of coming with us, are you?" Roy asked menacingly.

"Roy, I also want to try and save my son! why would you be against me coming?" Brandon was astonished by Roy's attitude.

Roy's face softened a bit. "Listen, Brandon, I know you're as heartbroken as us, but look behind you?" Roy was talking about Melina. "And think of the other two children that still need you," Roy said in an affirmed tone.

"Me and my wife Tilda are going to go search for our ONLY daughter! You still have two children that can't afford to lose you. Think about them first, and if you still want to come, I won't stop you." With that, Roy headed back to the group of parents planning to go; while also discouraging other parents similar to Brandon from going with them.

Brandon's knees cave in, crying while holding onto his wife, he apologized to Drew and his family repeatedly.

Days go by with reports of no casualties from sea ships, all returned safely.

The only missing plane with everyone inside is still unaccounted for. People started believing that the search and rescue are no longer plausible and will turn into search and recovery of the plane and bodies. The only problem is they could be anywhere in the pacific ocean, making people pessimistic about finding them.

Days turn into weeks, with countries having no choice but to open up ports for trade, even with the prospect of the storm coming at any moment. The investigation was turning fruitless, with the only evidence that it happened at all was the pictures and videos posted on the internet and the frightful image from NASA. Showing the hurricane, looking human-like. What shocked researchers, even more, was an image, of the missing plane being sucked by dark clouds with lightning dancing around, only for moments later the hurricane disappearing along with the burning plane.

"Mr. President, is it really alright to release the images from NASA to the public?" asked an advisor. "This could cause discord among the masses, especially since we have no way to explain how'd it even happened!" the advisor now sounded dispirited.

"We can't cover this up forever. There is just too much evidence already outside to the public. No one will believe any explanation we say! Therefore we must first show the public that even we don't know what that storm was? And the need to stay united in these times of crisis! Especially since we can't control when it might happen again." The President now looked more aged from when this all started.

"I've spoken to all world leaders, and most decided to cooperate on investigating this phenomenon. China is the only one working alone for now but has approved international support in case the worse should come to any country. Let's start making preparations to address the public at once!" The President got up and walked away from the screen where all world leaders just had a major conference that would shake the world.

Once the President announced that everything would reopen, with all governments working together in the same cause. He then showed the startling image of the hurricane and the plane disappearing mid-air with it.

"My fellow Americans, it is to our belief that this was an extraterrestrial origin. We can not confirm nor deny it, but there is no other explanation to how such a storm could come to be and make a whole plane that was still in the sky disappear out of thin air. We have confirmed that the airplane did not crash into the water with these images! (shows the pictures from NASA) Whether they are alive or dead is unknown. It's like they were spirited away! We don't know when or where such another storm can come to be. All we can do right now is pray that it doesn't. Those that want to travel overseas will need to be prepared if it happens to them. Your fate is in your own hands. We will continue investigating the plane accident and try to give their families closure. Now my fellow Americans, please pray and think in your hearts for the families affected by this unfortunate accident. I also want you all to have hope and not live in fear and support one another in these strange times, May God bless us all." The President finally finished his speech.

Back in Michigan, Roy and Tilda returned from Cali. Along with all the parents who went with them. With nothing to show for their efforts and the news of their children taken away from unknown entities. Were heartbroken and couldn't believe the pictures of the plane's disappearance.

"I believe my daughter will be back. I refuse her death. We didn't train her, just for her to die before us." Roy somberly said. "I will wait for as long as it takes for her to come back to us." Tilda held onto Roy's hand.

"Our daughter is strong, and if she has her friends with her, she will be alright dear," Tilda said strongly to Roy.

"We must keep pushing forward; our children wouldn't want us to stagnate in despair," she said to everyone gathered, including all of Drew's friend's families. "Please support one another, and if you need help, don't be afraid to ask us; you aren't alone in this, have hope."

After a few more statements of encouragement from other parents, the discussion was nearing its end.

"Alright, everyone, we have agreed not to hold a funeral. We all strongly believe that they are alive and well and will wait for all of them to come back to us no matter how long it takes!" surprisingly, it was Brandon who earnestly stated. " My son is an idiot, but if there is one thing he is strong in is caring for others. I know he won't give up, neither should we!"

All families left with hope and conviction after discussions. leaving just the families of Drew's friends.

"We've always known each other kids as if they were our own, each strong in their own way and supporting each other's weaknesses. We must also support one another through these trying times and believe that they will come back to us safe and sound." Melina was the one to speak in conviction.

"Our son always talked about them and truly cared for each of them. He always said that without them, life would be boring. I also remember the nicknames he had for each of them, like the Brain or the Jocky. One of the more memorable ones is Mrs. Charisma; I always wondered who that could be, but he never told me. Since it has Mrs.? It has to be a female, right?" No one knew but laughed at the silly nicknames. "Let us believe in them and let these tears be the last ones we shed until they come back to us." Melina finished, with tears trickling down everyone's faces.

They all nodded and hugged one another before going home and thus continuing their lives with the hope of their return.

Darkness, warmth, visions of my family and friends, passing through my head. (Where am I? I can't open my eyes or move, I feel tired... falling... to... sleep...) I hear a female voice but can't stay awake to listen to it, she sounds sad but eery at the same time.

Darkness...
