Chapter 62: Awakening

Little Green was still observing Tang Mu's transformation process.

Her eyes had twinkled with delight when she had seen him rely on the high-quality energy absorbed from the sap of the Elven Universe world tree to unlock his second chakra and achieve the level of a rank two psionic.

But that hadn't been the end, and the process still continued. Tang Mu had ascended through the primary, secondary, advanced, and peak-stage sub-levels of the rank in a few hours, and now he was just about to smash apart the bottleneck that barred many low-level lifeforms from reaching rank three.

Talk about talent — this was it.

Of course, the wondrous treasure that was the sap of the Elven Universe world tree and the apex technique that was the Star God Celestial Diagram had helped to some extent. But even then, Little Green couldn't discount the talent of the lucky guy since he had to rely on his own aspects, including willpower, to utilize the treasure and achieve the feat of ascending a rank within hours.

For instance, if he didn't possess a crystalline soul body, he would already be dead and wouldn't have had the qualifications to absorb the sap of the Elven Universe world tree. And if his mental strength and other aptitudes were below par, he wouldn't have ascended ranks even after consuming a more potent treasure.

I wonder how far he can go. Rank 3 - primary or secondary stage?

Little Green's green eyes twinkled with expectation as she continued her observation.

Tang Mu didn't disappoint, and he soon smashed yet another bottleneck and unlocked his third chakra, which happened to be the Earth Star Chakra located below the feet. With the help of the Star God Celestial Diagram and the sap of the Elven Universe world tree, he finally transcended another barrier that prevented many others from becoming rank three metaphysical beings.

It was a momentous achievement that caused his body to tremble as he absorbed the massive amount of psionic energy through another connection with his esoteric physique in the other plane of existence. It was also a feat that would allow his powers to experience a qualitative transformation in their very essence, thereby making him much more powerful.

But was that the end? The answer was once again a big No.

Little Green watched with widened eyes as the lucky guy repeated a feat from minutes ago. He relied on the remaining traces of energy absorbed from the sap of the Elven Universe world tree to ascend the sub-stages of typical rank three beings.

In 40 minutes, he crossed the barrier from the primary to the secondary stage of rank three. Then, in another sixty minutes, he reached the advanced stage before achieving the peak stage within another eighty minutes. At that point, the soul and life energies in his body were finally fully used up, and only then did the miraculous transformations going on within his body end.

Impressive!

A smile lit up Little Green's face as she watched Tang Mu's eyes flatter open after a few more seconds. His powers had just undergone a momentous transformation, and he couldn't control them yet. He was exuding an aura that could suffocate any rank two or below being.

Little Green didn't mind this bit of power manifestation. She took a single step through the folds of space and instantly appeared before Tang Mu, who was beginning to look around. "Welcome back from the clutches of death. How do you feel?" She asked.

He turned and looked at her floating figure, seeming a bit out of sorts. "I feel great and reborn after escaping death," he replied calmly. "Can you tell me how much time passed while I was reconstructing my body?"

"Twenty-eight hours, give or take. Just over a day."

"That long," Tang Mu sighed and shook his head. "I guess the people outside must have already declared me dead."

"True," Little Green confirmed the conjecture. "The protectors of your world, the ones you call the police, have already declared you dead. That was after recovering almost two-thirds of the remains of your previous body."

Tang Mu winced at that. "That means that I can't return. I can't explain how I recovered after a rank three attacked me and blasted my body into smithereens."

"True," Little Green said. "An innate ability of yours called the Crystalline Soul Body helped you out. It triggered automatically and allowed you to initiate the self-resurrection process."

"Crystalline Soul Body!?" Tang Mu glanced at Little Green with confusion.

"Yes," Little Green confirmed and quickly explained the workings of the innate ability. After that, she glanced at him and cautioned, "You must discard the workings of this ability out of your mind as you can't control it yet. It may fail to trigger at any point, and that will be your end."

"I understand," Tang Mu replied and sighed again. "I feel a bit lost and can't control my fury. I'm angry at myself for making mistakes that almost led to my doom. I'm also incensed by the enemy who put me in that situation."

"It's good you feel that way!" Little Green said with a smile. "You have already unlocked your Earth Star Chakra as your third energy whirlpool that connects your physical and esoteric living elements. You are even at the peak of the third rank, meaning you're now much stronger than the enemy who almost killed you. Do you want revenge?"

"Of course I do." His eyes flashed with unconcealed fury as he rose from his cross-legged position on the barren rocky ground of the Star Orb storage dimension. Without minding Little Green's stare, he swiftly put on a new set of clothes before continuing, "But I don't know where to find the enemy. I don't think the police arrested him. He might have long escaped the boundaries of Asia Metropolitan Region and hidden himself."

Little Green floated forward and locked gazes with Tang Mu. She could see that his eyes were still flashing with runic symbols — a tell-tale sign that he was still struggling to control his recently improved abilities. "You're right," she said. "The police didn't capture him, and he successfully escaped. But do you know what the good news is?"

Tang Mu shook his head, his face expressing his confusion and expectation.

Little Green smiled mysteriously and said, "I stealthily placed a tracking mark on his body before he escaped. I can track him if he is still in this solar system."

"Is that true?" Tang Mu's eyes gleamed with a blend of excitement and fury. He was really yearning to enact his revenge. "Can you locate him now before he leaves the planet?"

"Not so fast, my dear Tang Mu!" Little Green shook a finger in front of him. "I cannot help you again until you clear the first painting world in the Celestial Gallery. I cannot provide any more aid to you before you complete this feat and become a true Star God legatee."

Tang Mu's eyes narrowed, and he asked, "Help me again? Could you be the one who provided that treasure of a green liquid that allowed me to reconstruct my body quickly?"

"Da! If not me, who could it be? By the way, that treasure was the sap of the Elven Universe world tree. I gifted you a significant portion of my reserves. Be sure to repay me as soon as possible."

"I'll surely repay you in the future," Tang Mu promised. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Little Green replied with a playful smile. "As I said, I cannot provide any more aid to you even if I wish to. That being the case, you will have to become a Star God legatee before requesting help from me to track down the enemy."

Tang Mu nodded. "So, if I clear the first painting world, I can become a Star God legatee?"

"Yes. And you have to clear the first-level world swiftly. Otherwise, the enemy might leave this solar system, and I won't be able to track him."

Tang Mu nodded again, his eyes brimming with boundless resolve and confidence. "I'll enter the painting world and try to clear it as soon as possible. Give me a few minutes to stabilize my clone and prepare a few things first."

"Okay."
