Chapter 32: Return
Tang Mu felt the familiar uncomfortable feeling of shuttling through space before flickering into existence within his residence.
His senses returned as his feet landed on the tiled floor. He immediately noticed that it was already morning, and the rays of the just-risen sun were streaming into the room through the window.
He blinked his eyes to adjust the light. He scanned his room and instantly detected that his perception was sharper than ever.
Tang Mu could effortlessly notice the details he had always ignored. He could see the small traces of dust in the corners, the physical traits of the tiny spider weaving a cobweb close to the ceiling, and the small cracks on the window seal, among other inconspicuous things. The conversations outside his room were also quite clear. He could even make out their content.
"Brother Huang An!" He heard a familiar voice say. "Do you think something happened to Tang Mu? We haven't seen him since yesterday morning."
"Why are you so worried about him?" Another oddly familiar voice questioned.
"Don't overthink matters. I'm just wondering why the guy has remained cooped up in his room since yesterday."
"Aunt Wanjing said he was at a critical point in his training. He should be meditating. Enough about him! Let's be quick. We must hurry up and head out for the Psionic Society's assessment."
Tang Mu then heard the sound of the door closing, and the voices disappeared. Most likely, Huang An and Gong Qing, the two people conversing, had entered their rooms.
My hearing has improved, and my vision has gotten sharper since my breakthrough to rank one.
Tang Mu placed his archery bag to the side and stepped toward the bathroom. But the next moment, he stumbled and almost planted his face onto the tiled floor. His body seemed foreign, and he couldn't control it well.
"It seems like my body fitness has grown by leaps and bounds after I broke through," he thought, picking himself from the ground. "While within the mysterious Star God Pagoda, this didn't matter. But now, I'll have to practice a bit before mastering the control of my improved strength."
Tang Mu was a man of action. He started performing simple motions, like walking, kicking, stretching, and punching the air. He intended to understand his improved body so as to have better control over it in the shortest time possible.
He was careful at the beginning to avoid planting his face on the ground. But as minutes passed, his enhanced mental abilities came into play, and he gradually started performing the actions at a much quicker pace without tripping himself. He persisted, and twenty minutes later, he achieved an initial mastery over his improved fitness.
Now, I don't have to worry about losing control of my body and injuring myself while performing day-to-day actions. But I will still have to practice a lot harder to gain complete mastery of my improved fitness.
A few considerations flashed through Tang Mu's brain, forcing him to adjust his plans for the future.
He would have to consider the prospect of acquiring membership to one of the decent gyms around the neighborhood if he wished to train his body. Only then would he gain access to the gravitational chambers and other high-end training facilities that would allow him to hone his remarkable fitness.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
"Time to shower."
Tang Mu started heading to the bathroom. But after taking a few steps, he thought of something and stopped.
How can I forget to test my spiritual sense? I need to find out how far it can extend.
Tang Mu slowly extended his newly awakened perception ability. He was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that his spiritual sense could spread through walls and floors.
Details within the adjacent rooms and the ones from the floor immediately below vividly appeared in his mind as he continued extending his senses. He could even 'see' a few girls taking morning showers and two of his male hostel mates who were busy pumping their hands upon something between their legs.
Moreover, the spiritual sense was a covert ability, and all the victims had no idea that they had exposed their 'little secrets' to a 'certain' observer.
Tang Mu sighed at how the younger boys in the hostel were quite lonely and energetic.
He continued expanding his sphere of perception, and many more scenes appeared within his mind's eye. Then, just as he was about to go all out and extend his spiritual sense to its limits, something even more bizarre caught his attention.
He almost couldn't believe what he had witnessed. He felt like explosions of bewilderment were going through his mind when he 'saw' two entwined bodies romping away on a creaking small bed in one of the rooms in the hostel.
What beasts! And when did they start dating?
Tang Mu was surprised as the bodies belonged to Gong Qing and Huang An, his two acquaintances. It was still early morning, and the sun had barely risen. But the two people were already going through the age-old ritual of harmonizing yin and yang.
How horny could they be?
And you can imagine the vivid scene of one muscled and tall guy busy chewing the 'things' of a buff girl with quite an above-average height.
Tang Mu felt like an opponent had gotten a home run with all bases loaded off him.
What wretches! Aren't they supposed to be heading out to undergo the Psionic Society's Assessment? Oh, was it what they meant by they have to be quick during their conversation earlier?
Tang Mu shook his head and forced himself to ignore the bizarre scene. He continued extending his perception until he covered about a kilometer radius around the hostel. Every detail within that radius appeared in his mind's eye, and only then did he start to feel a strain on his spiritual force.
Little Green was right.
I can use my spiritual strength up to a radius of about a kilometer. But this distance will reduce when many massive obstacles, like thick walls and soil, are in the way of my spiritual force. For instance, I can only sense about fifty meters into the ground.
Tang Mu made his conclusions and retrieved his spiritual sense. Just then, he recalled that Little Green had said something about his bond with the star orb strengthening after he broke through to rank one. He quickly scanned his body and eventually discovered a new tattoo-like mark of a star on his inner left wrist.
Could this be what Little Green was talking about?
Tang Mu's curiosity was piqued. He traced his fingertips across the mark, but nothing happened. He narrowed his eyes and pondered for a bit. A light bulb soon went on in his head, and he used his newly awakened spiritual sense to scan the tattoo.
The next moment, he was pleasantly surprised. Joyful energy filled his entire being as he felt his mind connect to an expansive magical space with almost limitless borders within the tattoo-like star on his wrist. Tang Mu even noticed some glowing crystals of red-tier origin essence in one corner of the space.
This should be the star orb's storage space. The crystals of the origin essence should be the leftovers from what I used to break through to rank one. Little Green should have transferred them there.
Tang Mu's hopes soared, and he pivoted his gaze onto the archery bag he had placed on the side.
He stepped forward and touched it. Then, with just a single thought, he quickly sent it into the star orb's storage space, and it disappeared from the room. The whole process was fast and effortless. It didn't put any strain on his mind.
Amazing!
It works just like in the painting world, and I can no longer feel the weight of the longbow and quiver of arrows. It will save me from facing a lot of hassle during my future travels and adventures.
Tang Mu's spirits brightened as he thought of several ways to utilize the star orb's storage space. With a smile, he stepped out of his dirty combat gear and immediately headed to the shower.
