It has precisely been two and a half days since Unit 4797 was sent into unknown territory. During its travels, not one living creature was to be found in its path. There was no noise, only the sound of Unit 4797's footsteps and the rumbling of fans concealed inside its chassis.
During these past two days, it had been wandering in a straight path removing obstacles, dodging terrain, and climbing small hills. Though it hasn't just been endlessly roaming for two straight days- no. 4797 has discovered a few things in its kit. The first is that its statistics were changed into a display screen. The display was like the Inspection display. It wasn't digital and was in the physical world from the view of 4797.

The whole thing was simplistic and easy to understand. It also reminded 4797 of the Sheriffs favorite game genre, specifically the MMORPG genre. 4797 had already tweaked with the display before, being one of the first things it did an hour in.
If the display screen was anything like what the Sheriff ramblings, then it was fairly simple to decipher. All it took was a couple of tries before 4797 manage to add a skill point into its 'Battery' stat via 'willing' it to the desired stat. How any of this managed to work without any technology or any physical input was scientifically implausible. But looking at its current scenario, scientific laws were a scoffing thought.
The main gripe that puzzled 4797 was the 'Karma' statistic. Now, statistics such as 'Strength' and 'Dexterity' were easy to understand. Though 'Karma' could mean anything. If it was referring to the Buddhist or Jainist belief, then it would mean that the actions of 4797 would possibly increase and decrease the stat. Though the prospect of religious Karma could cause quizzical scenarios later down the line.
The other things 4797 has learnt was its gloves it was currently wearing. The gloves were hard knuckle gloves with a velcro strap, having the same color palate as its leather jacket- the primary being a dark black, with a secondary being a bright neon blue patterning across the whole jacket.
With an Inspection, this is what it was given.
*Gloves of The Steady [Uncommon]
Once worn, the user will be given a major increase in knockback resistance when bearing a weapon that causes knockback.
Gives the user +5 defense and +5 switching speed*
The total knockback resistance that was given to 4797 was a thirty-two percent increase. The estimate was just that- an estimate. How it did this was it took off the glove and shot three rounds. The knockback from the firearm was very noticeable, and caused a ton of vibrations that was absorbed.
But when wearing the glove, it had drastically decreased them. And taking some time to calibrate the estimates, 4797 concluded it to be a thirty-two percent increase.
The last thing that was proven to be of any use was the Repair Tokens. They were the size of a half dollar coin, and in the palm of 4797's hands felt like it weighed as light as a feather. There were only five of them that were given to 4797, so it had to make these count.
Going by only the name, the token could be used to repair anything. And when given an inspection, was proven correct.
*Repair Token [Rare]
A token that can repair any and only items that is the same rarity as the token. The time of a full repair is tied to how damaged an item is. If an item is broken, it cannot be repaired.*
Testing the token, 4797 'willed' the token to its damaged leather jacket and was greeted with a display prompt.
*Use Repair Token?
Y/N*
4797 was going to opt for yes, before looking at the state of the leather jacket. The damage wasn't as bad as it should've been, with only a few dozen or so claw marks. Using the Repair Token now would be a considerable waste, so 4797 decided to use it when the jacket was truly damaged.
Now in the present, there was nothing worthy to note. Continuing North had led to nothing but scenery for the Unit, and while the view is nice, it would be nicer if it was able to do something more useful than walking. Speaking of walking, it had been a few hours since its last recharge. 4797 looked around for a patch of sunlight that was big enough to enclose its entire body.
It was a fifty second walk when it finally did find one, and stopped in the middle of the sun patch. 4797 removed its torn jacket and placed it a hands-length away. It got down to its knees and hands, and the sound of mechanisms being moved inside filled the deafening noise.
When everything inside of 4797's body was arranged correctly, its back split open into four squares. Stabilizers came out of its sides and hooked onto the four squares. The stabilizer turned the four squares on their backs, and underneath was a pyramid patterned solar panel. The stabilizers then arranged themselves in different angles for an optimal sun intake.

4797's insides slowly reassembled themselves once its back was fully attached to the main body. The stabilizers went into 4797's sides and was swiftly enclosed again. It stood back up and grabbed the jacket, which it dusted debris off before wearing.
When everything was in order, it continued Northward without issue. But while traversing three a kilometer away from its initial destination, it could faintly see in the distance a shift in change in the dirt. It was only twenty meters away, and the closer 4797 got to the change, it could see that it was a small dent in the earth. There was many like it leading in a trail, with two sets of dents being a few meters next to it.
Deciding to follow small indents in the grass, 4797 changed its course and headed to the source of whatever left these tracks. The trail would only get deeper and deeper as it led 4797 two hundred kilometers away from where it found the tracks. As it followed these tracks, more and more of them appeared near them, with the current amount being twenty separate tracks.
Soon, the twenty separate tracks turned to forty, then eighty, and then finally one hundred. Soon enough, the tracks slowly diverged into one another, as the indent that 4797 followed grew bigger and bigger and deeper in depth. The initial width and depth of the indents were about the size of a small rock, but now became a giant boulder.
It was now sixteen feet in width, seven in height, and the indent into the earth was as big as a full-grown hand. Following the track led the Unit to a cave entrance, with the entrance being around thirty to thirty-five feet tall. It was also wide. Very wide. Wide enough to allow ten carrier trucks to park vertically with one another.
Inside the cave entrance, 4797 could see close to nothing after fifty feet. The tracks also gotten bigger once the surface changed into hard stone. There were no rocks or pebbles anywhere around, and more importantly, the tracks left the stone floor a smooth and flat surface. The whole thing was suspicious, which 4797 was willing to investigate.
But then it started to evaluate the importance of finding civilization to a possible goose chase. Sure, it could go inside the cave, find a potential discovery that could satisfy its curiosity. Or, it could go in, and be met with nothing but whatever left those tracks and be mauled. So, naturally, it decided to turn around and beginning walking away from the cave entra-
*PING!*
It stopped in its tracks as a loud bell ranged out. In the top left corner of its vision was a small bell icon. The bell icon wasn't there before, and somehow 4797 never saw the icon there during the entirety that it was in the forest. 4797 commanded the icon to show what it was demanding for 4797 to view.
*Hello, Testers! It has been approximately around 2 and a 1/2 days since your last test. During this time, you should be hopefully well equipped with gear, in a group of other testers or with inhabitants of your planet, and near whatever civilization you could find.
Now, for the urgency of this matter is due to several things. Starting off with the first one.
You have been given a new assignment to fulfill! This challenge is quite simple. Reach level 200 within the time of 2 and 3/4 of a year. If you are unable to meet the requirements by the time the deadline has been met, you will be wiped, and you won’t like it at ALL! So, chins up and stay focus!
The second is going to be a monthly check on how many fellow Testers are on your planet. Scroll bellow, and you’ll see the following list.
[200] Testers are currently on your planet. [20] of them have reached level [15] or higher.
The last, and the most important message to be announced for today is this.
Have…
Fun!
This is all for now. Good luck and have a Glorious Grind!*
Standing there, 4797 looked back at the cave entrance, and back at the display screen. 4797 began to reevaluate its decision once more. It could go and aimlessly walk for another week and find nothing but dirt and grass and do nothing productive. Or it could go into the cave and can both fulfil its curiosity and hopefully find anything of use that might be hiding inside the cave.
4797 turned back around and walked toward the entrance of the cave and entered. 4797 turned on its night vision once deep enough inside, and everything went monochrome. Right now, it couldn't see anything noteworthy. There were only a few arachnids that scurried away once 4797 was near enough.
4797 then suddenly stopped in its tracks and looked back again at the crawling arachnids. With a close enough look, it saw these crawlers were unique. 4797 quickly scanned the life form and was given an error message.
://_ERROR! Could not scan!
(Scanning inefficient due to the lack of images to fallback to) _\\:
The cluster of arachnids before 4797 was a new species. Never before seen by science. It was a marvelous discovery, and a giant leap for mankind in the terms of knowledge. It then looked around itself and found another undocumented arachnid. And then another, and another, and another. 4797 took multiple pictures of these arachnids and added them to a new folder titled 'Undocumented Wildlife'.
One spider was fuzzy and stubby, but it was the size of a watermelon. It had a spiraling pattern on its abdomen, which was much brighter than its dark body. It was practically glowing in the darkness. 4797 then realized that it did, in fact, glow in the darkness. Turning off night vision for a moment revealed the true colors of the giant arachnid. The glowing spiral was a bright neon pink, and the dark body was a dark purple that could pass off as black.
4797 then tried using the Inspect skill that it hasn't used in moment. Using the Inspect skill popped up a display screen, which despite the darkness, was as readable if it were in the sunlight.
*Magna Peritia Aranea [Lvl. 2]
Magna Peritia Aranea, also known as the Giant Hypnosis Bug, belongs to the Peritia family and is the largest variant amongst them.
Magna Peritia Aranea use their spiraling pattern on their abdomens to lure prey, by rhythmically luminating its pattern. Once caught, it will be enclosed in a chrysalis woven from its webs. Once woven, it leaves prey hung in their territory and save them for later use.
The more levels that the Magna Peritia Aranea gets, the more powerful its hypnosis effect is. Anything below its level will be automatically affected by it. And anything higher are able to resist or be immune to its affects*
4797 was only level six yet didn't feel any traction towards the giant spider. 4797 didn't bother dwelling on it as it continued traveling in a straight path.
Twenty minutes inside, it could already tell something was off. The floor was beginning to alter, as it was gradually turning steeper. Ten more minutes and it was now harder to stand straight as the floor was starting to go into an incline, but 4797 only pushed through as it followed the tracks.
All it took was a slight misstep, and 4797 would be tumbling down into whatever laid at the bottom of the cave. And soon, it eventually took that misstep and tripped. It fell down onto its front side and began to gradually slide. Without its clothing, 4797 would've been creating sparks left and right as the harsh stone floor grinded at its body.
It tried and failed to get back up as its foot couldn't find anything to hold onto. 4797's speed began to rise as it tried vigorously to get back up on its feet, crawling at the floor to try and stop its velocity to increase any further. It was fruitless however, as it only left its gloves fingertips to be damaged from friction. Seeing as it was a losing battle waiting to happen, it took off its backpack and flung it in front.
The floor only got steeper and steeper as 4797 slid down faster and faster. Its speed now reached to a point where stopping was almost impossible without damaging 4797, but if 4797 slid down faster and hit the bottom of the floor it would be catastrophic. So, 4797 planted its feet onto the floor firmly, and pushed back its arms and back against the floor. It managed to slow down 4797, but by only a little as it still slid down the ramp at uncontrollable speeds.
4797 pushed its body as hard as it was program let it against the floor. The speed at which it was going was beginning to slow, yet this all cost at the expense of its clothes, especially its already torn up jacket from before. Soon its speed was a manageable pace, and the steepness of the floor began to fizzle out.
It took only a few minutes until 4797 sliding stopped, as the ground was flat again. Standing up and patting dust and grime off of itself, it took a look at the state of its clothes. The back of its pants was ruined and was so thin that a little bit of pressure was enough for the visible string to collapse on itself. The backside of its jacket wasn't any better, as 4797's back was almost visible.
Luckily, the backpack was left damage-less, or close to it. It took it off, and laid it on the ground as it unzipped the backpack, it took out four repair tokens that it saved and used them on its pants, boots, jacket, and gloves. It was lucky that it saved the Repair Token when it could, as it would have probably taken the rest of its Tokens to repair everything.
*Use Repair Token?
Y/N*
Choosing yes, the Repair Tokens that was in 4797's hands began to turn into dust one by one. When there was none left, 4797 could see the damages on its clothing being repaired. It was a spectacle to watch as the clothes started to repair themselves from nothing. What 4797 was witnessing now was impossible. But again, its state that which it was in could be deemed as impossible as well.
As the clothes were getting worked on, 4797 looked around where it stopped at. The first thing it noticed was that the floor was now chiseled and turned into bricks. And the second thing that it saw was a hall that was lined with doors and torches, which left its night vision mode useless. The hall went down for what seemed like fifteen to twenty meters before ending in a dead end. There were branch offs in the hall however, and with them 4797 assumed that were also branch offs in them as well.

4797 had never seen these new pop ups before, and while 4797 kept on staring, ten sticks with cloth on their tips landed in front of it. Picking them up and using inspect showed that these torches were common ranked. It had nothing to light these torches with, nor did it have any use for them, so it put them inside of its backpack.
As it packed in the torches, a loud roar echoed throughout the halls of the so-called dungeon. The flames on the torches flickered, but the roar wasn't enough to snuff them out. The roar had a mixture of two noises. One was as if steel blades grinded against each other, and the other was something that resembled a loud siren.
It quickly packed up the torches, and once it did 4797 hastily put it back on and took out its firearm. The roar sounded distant, but it wasn't taking any chances that it isn't in here wandering about. It then slowly walked down the hall with its gun equipped and aimed, ready for an impending fight.
