Ch 3- Treasure and Conflict

Walking in blind with little to no information, 4797 walked at a slow pace with its firearm firmly pointed in front of itself. 4797 moved a foot every few moments until it finally lowered its weapon. It didn't dare holster the gun as it held it tight, but it still lowered it. Its guard was down, which was dangerous as the thing that made that roar could do anything if it were to sneak up on it.

As it looked around cautiously one more time, it had accidently bumped into something. 4797 jumped back and trained its sights on the thing that it bumped into. It was only one of the doors lining the halls. 4797 lowered its weapon and proceeded to twist the bronze door handle poking out.

*TINK TINK*

It didn't budge as it was locked. It tried to open it in the other direction, but it had resulted with the same resistance as the last try. It had no other option to open the door, as there was no visible keyhole on the door. 4797 stepped back as it lifted one of its legs in the air, preparing to break open the door with force. It then slowly fell forward, and as it did so, it kicked with all of its force.

4797's foot landed on the door, yet despite its effort the door didn't seem to be fazed at all. It went back again and was rearing for another kick. And then it went back and rounded for another, and another. 4797 tried several more times before it finally stopped. It started processing what to do before looking down at its gun, and slowly stared back at the door handle. 4797 remembered one day, during its database searching on one of its missions, it had come upon a very qualifiable source named 'Shooting off door handle- Cybernetic Ashens Movie Scene'. Though, 4797 was now processing if it was worth losing ammo for a possible empty or useless room.

Its curiosity grew more and more, and it left it with one answer. Yes, 4797 was willing to risk the possibility of an empty room and waste ammo. It was worth a try anyway as it shot the door handle, which surprisingly blew off from the door. As it flew off from the door, it opened ajar from the impact of the shot and made an audible creak to echo throughout the passageways.

*Creeeeaaaak*

When the creaking finally stopped, a loud roar followed right after it. Again, it was the same loud roar that had the jumbles between metal scraping against each other and a rabid animal snarling. This time however, it sounded to be much farther away, making 4797 be eased.

As 4797 looked away from the area of the noise, it turned its sights on the now opened door with its handle broken off completely. 4797 hoisted its firearm, ready for a possible threat as it slowly opened the door more widely. It opened the door slightly and saw nothing but pitch black. It turned on night vision and was given a good look at what the room generally looked like.

The room itself looked to be the size of an average living, with its walls covered in moss and fungus that glowed in various of colors. There were chains nailed into the wall, with empty shackles hanging down, and there were stains of a dark maroon that was underneath it. On the surface of the roof was more moss and glowing fungus, and another row of hanging chains with shackles attached to them. There was nothing else to note in the entire room, and before entering the room, 4797 reloaded a new magazine and saved the extra on its utility belt.

When 4797 was finally prepared, it quickly swung open the door and went into the room and checked all sides. It checked all corners, the ceiling, the floors, the walls, and anything that stood out. It entered with haste as it checked its blind spots. It checked behind itself to make sure that there wasn't anything prowling and waiting to ambush it.

Looking around, 4797 had found nothing dangerous. It hadn't lowered its gun however, as it continued down the room to the thing that stood out the most. In the far back of the room laid a chest dead center inside. It was a standard wooden chest, that was strangely unaffected by its terrain as it hadn't had a single speck of filth on it like it was brand new. That alone made 4797 cautious, as it looked around its surroundings one last time before approaching the chest.

Approaching the chest, 4797 Inspected it to be sure it wasn't wired to anything.

*Silkwood Chest [Common]

A chest made from a [Silkwood] tree. It has a capacity of [40]. Currently, it has filled out [4] out of [40] slots of inventory.*

4797 deemed it to be safe enough to open, as it closed the distance between themselves. As 4797 touched the chest, a display screen popped into view in front of it.

*Open Chest? Y/N*

It prompted for yes, and as it did so the chest began to rattle and shake in place despite there being no external input. The shaking started off slow and calm, before it gradually started to become more aggressive. As it continued to rattle more and more, 4797 backed up and pointed its gun at the rattling chest. It then suddenly stopped, leaving 4797 bewildered by the confrontation-

*POW!*

The chest flung itself open as confetti popped out of it, whilst playing a celebratory melody. As the chest sprung open, 4797 had almost pulled the trigger at four items coming out of the chest one by one. The four items stopped only a few centimeters from the ground, before completely landing on the ground.

Once all of them were on the floor, 4797's shoulders lowered as it lowered its weapon once again. It viewed the items laid on the floor before it and picked up one of the items. It was an orb the size of a basketball that had a faint glow to it, and inside it was smoke that also glowed faintly. It glowed a neon purple, and 4797 shook it lightly like a snow globe. When it shook, the smoke inside the orb swirled from the movements. As it kept looking at it, a display prompt showed up.

*Use Torture Power Orb? Y/N*

The name 'Torture Power Orb' radiated with negativity, and it didn't take an A.I with thousands upon thousands of computing power to know that it was something dangerous to handle without proper information. Before 4797 did anything with the orb in its hand, it Inspected the item in order for a general idea of what the orb could possibly do to it.

*Torture Power Orb [Rare]

For most, sometimes, asking isn't enough. Sometimes, information is a must. And sometimes. Sometimes, they enjoy it to the extremes.

The power of the Sadistic One is evident in this Power Orb, as it hums with all its malicious intent.

Effects:

Gives the user permanent +2 strength.

Gives the user permanent +10 endurance.

Gives the user [Torturers Smile] skill.

Gives the user [Unwilling Informant] skill.*

Reading the description and list, it left 4797 teetering on either to use it for its benefits, or to just hold onto it and hope to never use it again. The skills that came with it were also very intimidating in name, and with an Inspection, was also very intimidating in use.

*Torturers Smile (Skill) [Rare]

When the user activates the skill, every opponent within a 10-meter radius will be inflicted with the [Victims Fear] status effect for a duration of 8 seconds. When an opponent is in the [Victims Fear] state, every wound performed by a slashing weapon will cause extra bleed damage

This skill will only work on opponents who are the same or below your level.

Unwilling Informant (Skill) [Rare]

Once the skill is activated, a victim of your choosing will be inflicted with the [Truth] status effect, causing them to tell nothing and only but the truth. Only one victim is permitted and will last for one question. Once used, it will leave the user in a weakened state for 10 seconds.

This skill will only work on opponents who are the same or below your level.*

All of this was inhumane to the extreme, and 4797 knew what decision it would make for the orb. Though, a side to it was seeing the possibilities of these skills, and what they had of use to it. The Unwilling Informant skill was a skill that was very eye catching. To force anybody to tell you the truth is a valuable skill, be it if it only could be used once peruse it was still a great skill.

But still, it was a no for the Patroller unit for now. Putting the Power away in its backpack, 4797 picked up the second item off the floor. The item was a small leather bag, and when jingled made the clinking sounds from coins.

*Bag of U.C (Ultmar Coins)

A bag of 30 U.C*

Inspection showed that it was a bag of thirty coins called Ultmar Coins. 4797 didn't understand what Ultmar meant and could only guess that it was the name of the manufacturing company that made it. It reminded 4797 of the Terminus Tokens back on Earth, as the manufacturers had done the same thing, branding the coins with their label.

Packing it away and moving on, 4797 picked up the third item and took a quick look with Inspection.

*Mad Mans Cleaver [Common]

The origins of this cleaver are... unspoken for reasons that shouldn't be shared. Oh, who are we kidding, the guy gutted people and ate their guts until they choked from too big of a bite.

Once this weapon damages an opponent, they will be poisoned for a 1-minute duration.*

First of all, the description of the weapon. It was morbid and grotesque, and 4797 didn't have to choose what to do with it as it spoke for itself. The cleaver was rusty and seemed to be dull at some points of the edges. The handle was gone, leaving only the steel bare to the elements. It packed that up inside and picked up the last final item, which was an uncommon repair token.

When 4797 finished packing up, it finally left the room with a heavier bag- metaphorically speaking. It didn't bother to close the door behind itself and continued on down the hall. There was another door a half a dozen feet away from where 4797 had first barged into, yet this time when it tried to touch it, bars fell onto every single door in the hall it was currently in.

It tried to see if bending the solid iron bars was a possibility, as it grabbed them and attempted to spread them apart. Unsurprisingly, it didn't manage to leave any changes whatsoever. The only doors that didn't have bars on them were the ones branching off in different hallways, and there were two paths that it could take.

The right side was shorter than the hall it was in now, but it had more doors and had a singular door colored a green hue at the end of the hall. The left side was the same as the main hall, with nothing to differentiate it. What both these had in common was the fact that they had slits on the ceiling and formed an arch. The slits were placed where once you took a step inside one of the branch offs, whatever was in them could slam down and trap someone in.

4797 contemplated if it was the right idea to trap itself so willingly. It tried taking a better look at the halls and could see that they both had no branch offs. So, if 4797 were to choose one of the branch offs, it had to stick with it for the duration it was in here.

And that was another thing that plagued its circuits. How will it exit? There had to be an exit to this dungeon, as the only entrance it took was basically a slide that had nothing to grip onto. And besides, it was a good height that could potentially take someone a day or to just to climb back up.

If one of these paths were the only way leading to the exit, then 4797 just had to let lady luck to smile upon it and let it pass. So, if 4797 were to pick one out of the two halls, it would be the right corridor. There were many things going out for it, most being the green door that was in the center of it.

Hesitantly, it took a step into the right hallway and when it crossed the slits in the roof, it expectantly slammed down a gate. On the other side it had done the same thing, slamming down iron gates and leaving whatever was on that side locked in permanently. Looking back, 4797 could see the many doors lining against the small corridor. There were fifteen in total, from the ten in the previous hallway.

4797 now had a general idea on how the doors worked, and the first door it chose was the door in the middle of the hall at the end. Closing in on the door, 4797 tried shifting the knob again, which surprisingly worked. It did the same thing that it did on the previous door, turning on night vision, looking around in the room, and swinging it open and entering as it surveyed the entire room.

And just like the other room, there wasn't any threat inside. The room itself however was far different than the previous room. The room was far bigger and was filled to the brim with cadavers chained to the walls that went up all the way to the ceiling. The room was the size of a school gym, and the ceiling was as tall as ten meters. 4797 was beginning to understand the theme of this place, as weapons stained with blood laid across the floor. There were one for every corpse in the room, and the weapons ranged from hatchets and cleavers to daggers and great swords.

At the end of the hall was another door, and it didn't seem so hard to get to. Still, 4797 looked around one more time and back at the door it came from. Something about this room didn't feel right, as it kept looking for what variable could be missing.

4797 decided to leave the room to see if that missing variable was possibly outside. But before it could have the chance to, it slammed shut as it was only a step away from leaving. And when it shut, a sudden barrier formed and glowed with runes on them.

*Achievement Unlocked!

Enter a Dungeon Clash room!

Reward: Health Potion [Common] (You're going to need it)*

Turning around swiftly, 4797 aimed its sight on the door in the middle of the room. It waited for the door to swing open and outcome an enemy from the other side. Instead, the floor in front of it cracked. And then another crack formed, and then another, until a sudden skeletal arm popped from the crevice with outstretched hands.

Another arm followed, and whatever belonged to them pushed themselves up from the tight space. Soon, the head of a skeleton popped out from inside. Once that head came out, 4797 didn't hesitate to fire on the new incomer, yet the shots didn't seem to connect as the same barrier gating the door was protecting the skeleton.

The skeleton was finally up, and when it did, it stared down at 4797 with glowing white dots. It lifted its right hand to the side, and whatever it was doing was affecting the very fabric of space to warp and distort. The distortion was small and was a jumbled mess, but then started to take shape in the form of a long pole with a curved blade at the top. The skeleton closed its fist around the distorted space, and when it fully wrapped its fingers around the shaft of the weapon, the distortion suddenly became solid and turned into a scythe.

Once the scythe took form, it then slammed it on the ground causing a loud echo to ring out in the room. When the echo stopped, its white eyes grew brighter and bigger, and its jaw unhinged. "The innocent lined against these walls- I ask for forgiveness. But wake from your hundred-year slumber and take the opportunity that I am presenting upon all of you... Revenge."
