Chapter 22: Extreme Training

Chapter 22: Extreme Training

After resting for over ten minutes, Mira began to feel much better. She glanced up at Wei Yun, who was diligently tending to her needs, and for once, her sharp eyes carried a rare softness.

This caretaker… he’s pretty competent!

Once Mira had recovered, Wei Yun resumed her training, determined to push her limits and fully unlock her potential.

Now re-energized, Mira darted around the training field with incredible speed, her powerful limbs propelling her like a gust of wind.

After three consecutive failed attempts to break her previous record, Mira finally succeeded. She shattered her earlier performance, earning the Healing Spring she had been craving. The sensation of receiving her hard-earned reward, a relief as sweet as rain after a drought, was something she would never forget.

Unfortunately, the triumph was short-lived. Mira soon hit another plateau, unable to surpass her record despite numerous attempts.

“Mira, let’s take a break. We’re heading to the bamboo grove next. Your task will be to focus on mastering Crushing Claw,” Wei Yun said, his tone decisive.

He could see Mira’s exhaustion, her ragged breathing and unsteady legs made it clear she wouldn’t be breaking any more records that day. It was time to change the focus of her training.

Unlike previous trips to the bamboo grove, Wei Yun didn’t ask Mira to attack the green bamboo stalks. Her strength had long outgrown what the bamboo could endure. It was time to find a new challenge.

Soon, Wei Yun’s eyes landed on a perfect target, a two-meter-tall layered stone, dense and compact, with a rough, textured surface.

“Mira, tear this stone apart!” Wei Yun commanded, pointing at the massive rock.

Without hesitation, Mira lunged forward, her claws extending in preparation for the strike. With a powerful sweep of her paw, she slashed the surface of the stone.

Swish! Swish!

Several gashes appeared on the rock’s surface, each varying in depth.

For Mira, breaking through such a solid stone was a daunting task, one that would demand considerable effort.

Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!

Without waiting for further instruction, Mira launched into a relentless assault, her claws carving deeper into the stone with each strike. Her accuracy had improved significantly, allowing her to target the same points repeatedly, expanding and deepening the existing damage.

Time passed as Mira continued her efforts. Before long, small fragments of stone began to chip away. Though they were still irregular, with no sign of powder, she was inching closer to mastering Crushing Claw.

Crushing Claw was a significant upgrade from Swiping Claw, boasting immense destructive power. When fully mastered, the skill could pulverize bones, muscle, and stone with a single strike, reducing even the hardest materials to fine powder. Simply put, it was a skill that vastly enhanced Mira’s offensive capabilities.

Every time Mira showed progress, Wei Yun rewarded her with a bowl of Healing Spring. The consistent encouragement and enticing rewards kept her driven, fueling her relentless determination.

As the sun set, casting long shadows across the grove, Mira’s training finally bore fruit. Her claws shimmered faintly with a soft white glow as she lashed out at the stone.

Crash!

The massive rock shuddered under the force of her strike, and from the deep groove she had carved, fine white powder began to fall. The breeze carried the dust gently to the ground, making its presence unmistakable.

“Crushing Claw?” Wei Yun stepped forward quickly, picking up some of the powder and rubbing it between his fingers. It was smooth and fine, undeniable proof that Mira had successfully used Crushing Claw.

With Crushing Claw now within her grasp, Mira’s attack power soared to new heights. Wei Yun was confident that if they faced Wei Hao’s Flame Wolf again, Mira could take it down in a single strike.

Of course, the strength of any skill depended on a beast’s foundation. The stronger the foundation, the more devastating the skill’s potential.

“Mira, keep using Crushing Claw!” Wei Yun ordered.

With renewed energy, Mira pounced on the rock again, her claws slicing through the air.

This time, however, the white glow didn’t appear, her attempt at using Crushing Claw failed.

“Crushing Claw isn’t an energy-based skill, so it shouldn’t have a cooldown period. The failure is probably because she just learned it. Only through consistent practice will she fully master it,” Wei Yun mused, his expression calm as he analyzed the situation.

Through careful observation, he noticed that Mira succeeded in using Shatter Claw about once every three attempts. However, as her training continued and her technique improved, her success rate steadily increased.

At her current pace, Wei Yun estimated it would take several more days of focused training for Mira to achieve complete mastery of the skill.

Over the next week, Mira’s training revolved around two priorities: perfectin Crushing Claw and continuing her extreme endurance exercises.

Thanks to the Healing Spring, Mira’s training intensity far exceeded that of an average spirit beast. Combined with her high-grade quality, her progress was extraordinary. Her improvement was visible to the naked eye.

By the end of the week, Mira had fully mastered Crushing Claw. Her physical attributes had also seen significant growth, particularly her speed and stamina.

At the training grounds, Mira completed the endurance course once again, her movements steady despite the strain. Reaching the finish line, she collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily but triumphant.

Wei Yun checked the sand timer and quickly calculated her speed.

Even with a 10-kilogram load, Mira had completed the course in just one minute, exactly 1/15 of a sand timer. Her average speed had reached 14 meters per second under full load.

Compared to when she first began extreme training, Mira’s progress was remarkable. Her growth was undeniable proof of the effectiveness of Wei Yun’s methods.

Her rank had also advanced. Mira had now reached stage 7, and her body had grown to nearly two meters in length, just enough for Wei Yun to ride her if necessary.

“Congratulations on your progress!” Wei Yun said, his voice full of encouragement.

Mira perked up at his words, her intelligent eyes lighting up with excitement. She gazed at him expectantly, clearly anticipating her reward.

Wei Yun chuckled knowingly. “Mira, effort never lies. I’m sure even you can feel that, right?”

Mira wagged her tail and let out a satisfied growl, her pride evident in her expression.

“Well then,” Wei Yun continued with a smile, “I hereby declare the extreme training officially complete. From now on, we’ll focus on actual combat!”

Roar!

Mira barked joyfully, her tail wagging furiously. Whether from pride in her progress or sheer relief at escaping the grueling training, her excitement was unmistakable.
