Chapter 6: Tech Gargin

Chapter 6: Tech Gargin

‘I guess moms are always this noisy’ Jacob thought as he tried to not give his mom the death stare.

“So is this girl, smart or just pretty?,cause you better not be with one of-”

“Mom, she is one of the smartest people in our grade, definitely at least top 10 in GPA… and yes she’s pretty, but she’s just a friend” Jacob smiled shyly. He definitely was into her, but he didn’t want things to move too fast at least not without her knowing.

“Sure.., Jacob. Just make sure you bring her around one day or set up a date in Gotham and I’ll met you there. I have to go there soon anyways to have a date with Sarah” Rio smiled, she put her hand on her son’s face before pinching his cheek before Looking at her other son and reclasping hands with him. Her face slowly morph into a melancholic sadness.

“I just want to say that I know you guys don’t like to bring him up, but I have to tell you that I’m so proud of you both. You two remind me so much of your father, Aaron- more of both your father and grandpa, though you have way more charm then the both of them combined. Rest their souls, I miss them so much. Both of you have so much of your father’s stubbornness, though more often than not it’s a gift than a curse.” Rio smiled as she turned to Aaron, who also had a sad frown plastered on his face. She turned to Jacob.

“You have my Intelligence, but you have you have your father’s heart. Tender once you let people in.” A tear fell from her face as she reminisced. She oscillated to look to the both of them.

“Please boys, stay together and help each other even when we aren’t doing these stupid dinners every Friday. I know it’s easy to get distracted with all of our lives when they are getting so complicated but we can’t forget that we need each other.” Rio emphasized the last words before she wiped the tear with her sleeve, and hit the emotional loss and pain with a smile. Jacob and Aaron quickly hugged her before they took their seats before hearing her pick up her utensil and take the first bite signaling Jacob to tuck in, He quickly scarfed down the food prompting the other two to look at him strangely but it didn’t affect his abilities to eat.

During the end of it, Aaron looked like he wanted to say something but he didn’t and on his way out, he promised Jacob that the next time they hanged out so he could buy him some new sneakers. Jacob smiled, waving goodbye to his brother before it was just him and his mother. He slowly went to his room after double checking If he mom was okay, but as returned to his room stuffed, Jacob heard the faintest phone ring from his mother’s phone. She answered it and he already what it was. His mother would taking another shift at the hospital.

“Jacob, I am going out to the hospital, they need me. I’ll probably won’t be back till Saturday afternoon, so be safe. I love you, I left your allowance in your account. Don’t spend it all” Rio announced, as opened the door.

He peeked out before looking at his mom, she looked tired, but as recent it became common practice. She didn’t need the money more than she didn’t want to sit along with her thoughts.

“Love you too mom” Jacob called out, and then focused back into his even messier room. He quickly finished the main component of his outfit, sowing the shorts’ waistband to the thermals, before he tried it on slipping to the out of the clothes he had on. It perfectly him snug as can be.

“There we go. Hey good looking, uh good I looked like the best mix between Jaden Smith and Killmonger.” Jacob looked around, and before taking it off, and looking at the collection of shades that were on his bed. He took the most bug like of them before popping out the lenses and getting sandpaper, so he could sand the edge down and creating a edge with a dremel. He melted the frames he had in to the shape of the new lenses before poking holes in them with a hot needle in a straight line.

‘These are going to be where I will sow the thread into the hole’ Jacob thought as he looked at the pin that was previously in his foot. He sowed the mask together, and then noticed clarity of them, They were a dark gray but not as hard to see through as he as he wanted it to, so he looked around until saw the sunset, tinted by the window mesh. Jacob walked over with a box cutter and sliced two small squares from the top corners of the mesh and looked through them via the mirror.

“Maybe with the mask?” he said as he stuffed the mesh inside the mask. He put the mask on looking into the mirror and smiled.

“Perfect.” Jacob cheered pumping his eyes. He wish he had the ability to upgrade them here and now but from now he would to wait until he found the perfect material for his first real suit. He took off the mask and the gloves, leaving the base layer of the suit on. He then grabbed all of his sweaters red, black and blue, while he also nabbing his used black and red spray paint. He spray painted a spider on his blue, and black sweater with red paint while spray painting the red sweater with the other. He hung them up with some yarn he fashioned across his room to let them dry before moving on to his next agenda.

For the rest of his night he started reading, not making a single attempt to eat, drink or do anything besides study all of what he needed. He study text books upon texts in the fields of Computer Programming. He found that having a I.Q of around 200 also comes with additional perks like an abnormally good retention of memory though he knew for certain that he didn’t have Eidetic memory. He look at his window as snow flurries started to hit his window as it fall, and looking past the beautiful snow, he saw that the sky was a dullish purple. He then cracked a look towards his phone before noticing that it was 2. A.M., 9 hours had passed since he ate with his mother. He took a second before going into kitchen to brew some black coffee, he sighed into the air.

“Urgh, I wish I could just steal J.A.R.V.I.S or E.D.I.T.H but the only thing that exists is the mother box or brother eye, but I don’t know if batman even created the A.I on this Earth. There’s also the Father box which is a big no-no, or the scara but also no. God help me.” Jacob then looked at the coffee machine and his filling coffee pot. He decided to poured a cup, loading a decent amount of sugar into it and then get back to work, but before he did. He decided to redo some of the code he had uploaded. It was far from efficient and he needed to it to begin learning itself, though it wouldn’t have much capacity to learn from the beginning.

He took the combined code that he had previously welded togethr, before making it his unique program while also installing new applications. He set a learning protocal where it would learn from the internet. The same way he did, but a lot faster. Putting that to the background which basically took almost all of his computer’s power he sighed before taking a sip of coffee, and resuming his studies. He went through text book after text book: Foundations of Cybersecurity, Cryptography, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence , Computer Architecture, Software Engineering Databases, Automatic Control, Embedded Firewalls and Intrusion, Detection & Operating Systems along Development with Java and System Programming , and finally Logic System Design. He looked back out, and saw that their was a bright sky.

“24 hours, easy peasy. Good thing it’s Friday- well Monday…. in the afternoon.” He took another sip of coffee before walking out to the window, popping out to the window mesh, and crawling up the wall with his laptop and phone. He reached the roof, before looking up. He wanted to boot it up, but he knew that the it’s information database was severely limited.

‘I should shut it down, and then update it that way but I would severely waste more time that I already don’t have. Maybe I should work on that Cloud server, upload it up to there and then make it’s storage unlimited using my hardrive. It’d take at least half the space on my laptop but that should be fine if I eventually upload it but I need money. More income than I am currently available too.’ Jacob thought about for a while but then he decided to go through the cloud server. He put down the coffee and cleared out a spot from him to sit. It had stopped snowing apparently. He put the coffee on the top of the roof before clearing a spot for him to sit and quickly got to work on the cloud server. His increased knowledge on all things computers at this point made setting it up supremely easy. He did that in the first 2 hours but it took him another hour to enhance it’s security and structure from people of the likes of normal peopled, but he would have to really spend the time to make it impossible for Batman, Lex Luther, Robin, and Oracle to get access easily. Unfortunately, it still would never be safe from people like Cyborg or anyone who’s main power is technology.

“And they say Rome wasn’t born in a day” Jacob smiled. He typed in a couple more block lines of code before running his system. After a couple more minutes of waiting, he felt the system had enough time to boot but he was still waiting, until he notice his screen go black. After 10 minutes of more waiting Jacob became slightly concerned, but the interface of the Cloud system had suddenly popped up. He thought of it like a digital backrooms, infinite in idea.

‘Fuck I just made the hybrid version of Dropbox . But I only have a laptop available. There’s an initial cap on the storage my A.I has but what if I could express code more efficiently. That would solve power consumption as well as hardware capabilities, but is it pos- who am I kidding, aliens exist. It’s just can I do it? How about if I turned the amount of data expressed in a bit, to the size of two bits while using the same amount of power. Would that mean that an Octet could be expressed into a quartet string with the power of the former, but wouldn’t that double the power requirements and essentially make all of the bytes short circuit? Not only that but it would mean that I would have to use a compiler converter two to one bit, but not exactly as…’ He racked his brain around it for awhile. Things processing on all cylinders before looking at his Cloud storage.

‘I guess it could be possible in the future when I have more than a day and half until a date. From now I need another Idea. I’ll just work on more code the most efficient way possible’ Jacob quickly wrote 300 lines of code in a couple of minutes before rechecking the pieces of his work. He then spent time on creating a data bed where his A.I could fall asleep, allowing him input more data in to it, without having to fully shut it down or restart. He also put the ability for it to ‘dream’ allowing a mine of data collection to occur, essentially making his A.I. have the ability to become smarter every time it fell asleep, but Jacob knowing he was stumbling onto a field with mines had to make sure it didn’t become unchecked, so he designed a balance of powers giving it rules that basically chalked up to: Don’t be a bad boy, Don’t let anyone touch you besides him, and don’t do anything that doesn’t help him in some way unless it’s absolutely not given, mandatory, or not in his best interest. Jacob then spent time on making the main components of his A.I. %62 more efficient. Thinking that that would be a decent place to start his A.I, He stopped focusing on the Project for a second feeling the breeze in the air, and the lack of light. He realized that hours had passed again without his permission, and he was still his base layer of his new spider suit. He swiftly went back inside, placing his laptop on his desk before peeling off whatever articles of clothing that he had been wearing and standing naked in his room. He check his phone, and saw that Ganke had called him 10 times with messages at the end.

“So you made your move, my student. Though you didn’t have to tell me that over the phone, Ganke” Jacob said to himself before swiping, dismissing both the messages and thephone calls. Seeing that Gwen left him a voicemail. He opened up the app before scratching his head. His heart told him to quickly play it but his brain thought nothing on it.
