“I know, she said she did but trust me, she is hard to win over. I don’t know why, she just doesn’t like me hanging out with boys. Not that it matters, if we get to da- hang out or not. That is all up to me, now is that for me? Btw, don’t you have a better GPA than me?” Cindy said as she pointed at the lily he was still holding on too. He looked at it before nodding, embarrassed that he had just brought in a single flower, but Cindy swiped it from his hands before sniffing it, and putting it next to her hair and smiling at him.
“What do you think?” CIndy asked.
“It looks good on you, Silk.” Jacob returned the smiled before lifting up the box lid, the smell of melted cheese sauce, and bread made it’s way up his nose as he saw one of the world’s greatest creations.
“Silk?” Cindy questioned.
“You don’t like” Jacob asked curiously.
“No-no I lo-?” Cindy looked at him curiously, his face reddened as she turned to a soft pink. Jacob felt his blood quick, matching the tempo as his quickening heart rate. He leaned it went to kiss her, but she held her hands out on his chest stopping him from moving any closer. They looked at each other for a couple of seconds, she seemed to be trying to find something within him, but she ended up looking away slightly. Causing his heart to thumb but instead of the fluttering it sunk into his stomach. He took a shard step back before realizing that he really just tried to kiss.
‘I’m so stupid. Why would I even try that’ Jacob thought before trying to speak. He couldn’t find the words and after he managed to swallow the nervousness, He tried to recover the situation
“Cindy I-”
“mmmmm mmhhmmm, Who’s ready to eat!” Albert moon shouted as he turned the corner. Jacob pumped his fist in the air dejectedly before turning to see if Cindy was alright but all he saw was Cindy looking like she wanted to say something but she looked away before yelling.
“Me!!” Cindy exclaimed, Cindy and Albert quickly set the table that at most could house 6 people eating comfortable. Jacob was told to take his seat before seeing Cindy’s mom sit across from him, Cindy tossed the pizza on the table, as well as the plates, and the cups before bringing up some of soda. Laying it down for all their access. They quickly consumed the pizza, not making much in the way of talking, or glances at each other besides Cindy’s mom who sought to burn his image into her face. Jacob tried to ignored it before feeling a hand on his thigh. Taking a look it was cindy who snuck a hand under the table squeezing his thigh to comfort him before sighing, and letting go.
“I thought you said you approved, Mom” Cindy glared at her mother who shifted her attention. Jacob took a look to see Albert observing while eating pizza. Jacob was about to say something before, putting down the soda pop.
“I do, I am just curious to what the project that Jacob has been working on.” Nari fixed her glasses
“Hey Mr. M-”
“Wait you do?” Both Jacob and Cindy asked curiously. Nari nodded before
“Jacob hasn’t given me a reason to not approve. He’s seemingly smart enough to not bring a bunch of grease that he calls food during a dinner, and then proclaim that any of the trailer trash that he had brought from Big Belly Burger is better than any meal cooked from your father’s hand.-”
“Mom” Cindy wailed.
“Plus, it’s the way you guys look at each other. It reminds me of your father and me. But I never quite had the goofy smile that you did looking at him” Nari explained. Cindy was about to defend herself, but Albert snickered before shaking his head.
“What?” Nari asked but Albert looked at his wife before continuing to eat.
“Al-”
“You had a goofier look when you looked at me, according to my mom, Nari” Albert took another bite before being hit with bunched up Napkin from a smiling Nari. The rest of them laughed, before continuing to eat dinner.

“SO Jacob, now that you we have that squared away, why don’t you share some of the project details. If it’s not too much” Nari probed.
“well, a way you can think about it, is as a cloud storage database that is based on a subscription method and allows people to store their data freely and access it from anywhere there is a internet connection.”
”That’ll be interesting to see but as far as an invention evaluation I couldn’t give you any advice, but I would personally be interested in the tech in a usage sense but otherwise. Do you have any sort of foundation with your invention? I could see if some of my bosses at Techtronics are interested in the software and maybe, give you a piece some of their time for a presentation?” Nari Moon offered, Jacob thought about before nodding which caused her to grin. The other two moons would continued eating. Nari seemed content enough to lower her gaze refocusing on the slices of pizza in front of her, while Cindy smiled joyfully seeing that her mother wasn’t judging something that she was trying to do. Their food quickly disappeared into their stomachs, and everything was peacefully quiet until Ms. Moon decided it was time to speak.
“Cin-”
Nari’s phone started ringing, she looked at Cindy before getting up and anwsering it.
“Yes.”
“Yes, we can”
“Yes, we’ll be there in an hour.” Nari hung up the phone before looking at Albert and Cindy.
“We need to go Al, they need us at the lab to work on the cycling procedure so they can finalize the merger.” Nari then left the dining room, putting on her coat. Albert than quickly finished his soft drink before getting up and kissing Cindy and patting Jacob.
“Cindy, be safe don’t go out but if you do, go somewhere with Jacob but not too far. Jacob, take care of her for me.” Albert winked before the pair of moons left the house leaving Jacob and Cindy were left alone.
“I didn’t know you invent things, is that something you were always interested in doing during your off time ?” Cindy asked, getting up taking the pizza with her. Jacob followed suit after watching her walk off. She went back to her room before laying the box on the her desk.
“so?”
“I am, it’s a passion and necessity of mine to sa-pass the time during school. School is boring, really boring.” Jacob admitted. He knew that in this and the last time he went to school it was a snooze fest, but he would continue unless his school magically blew up one day.
“Do you want to become an Inventor like Silas Stone then?” Cindy questioned curiously, Jacob shook his head before taking another sip of his drink.
“More like Lucius Fox. Brilliant mind but honestly I just want to save people, in anyway that I can.” Jacob hoped that being the Scarlet Spider would result in lives being saved that the bat family can’t, and hopefully he will be accepted by the Dark Knight himself, once he actually met the guy.
“How about you?” Jacob questioned. Cindy looked into her window before walking over and looking up.
“I honestly don’t know. My mom thinks I should be a scientist. My father want me to be whatever I want to be, but when I think about it I get anxious. I feel like I’m suppose to be doing something great that I am something great, but I’m scared that I don’t know what that is.” Cindy blurted out, they stayed like that, Cindy looking out towards the stars while Jacob looked at her beautiful figure and not a lot of time passed before Jacob decided that he should be going. Jacob went to say something but felt his phone ringing. Cindy turned to look at him, and sighed softly, whispering.
“Not you too”
“Sor- Hello?” Jacob answered the phone.
“Where are you blue jay, we have food, and mom says that you are still hanging out with your new friend. Should we just eat without you then?” Aaron resounded though his mind pictured him in a chibi form, and he then looked at Cindy who looked like a direct descendant from Aphrodite.
‘Wait, would I be Hephaestus then?’
“I am still hanging out with her, uh tell mom I’m sorry.” Jacob pinched the bridge of his nose, before looking at Cindy who shook her head, and walked up to his ear.
“Go, don’t worry about me. We can continue this another time, and I promise. This time it’ll be without my parents.” Cindy quietly whispered to her ear. Jacob turned to see Cindy’s and he so badly wanted to hug her for the rest of the night but he knew that these dinners meant a lot to his mom.
“No pro-”
“I’m coming, tell mom to give me 40 minutes to get over there.” Jacob said dejectedly before hanging up looking at the girl who looked like she was longing for something but she quickly nodded.
"My mother would be pissed if she found you were still here anyway " Cindy smiled, they found themselves standing idly before Jacob went in for a hug, but it went as awkwardly as the rejected kiss.
"That kiss from earlier would be a little too fast y'know. I'm sorry, but.... How about we pick this up next time? We could go on a proper hang out, as friends." Cindy grinned softly. They left Cindy's room before making their way to the entrance of her apartment.
“Having dinner with your mom isn’t proper?” Jacob weakly smiled before thinking about holding her closer but as soon as the thought came, it went. Cindy walked him out the door before holding on to him. He turned, before feeling soft lips on his cheek.
“There you go, champ. Don’t forget to text me when you get home, see you soon Jacob.” Cindy slowly closed the door, but Jacob held his hand on the door, for a while. Slowly letting his head thump on her door. After a couple of minutes, he decided to leave, quickly finding a window, and he stealthily made his way to the top. Where he went into his book bag to change. He saw his phone chime before seeing that Cindy sent him a photo of her with the lily that she took from him. His heart skipped a beat before reading.
Cindy: You can use that as my profile pic.
“First date I go on, and I’m friend zoned. What luck,” Jacob joked. He quickly saved the photo, before putting away the launching himself off of the building. He was currently about 10 miles away from his house, but being able to go faster than most mode of transportation helps get him there, in increasingly less time.
“Fuck, who closed my window” Jacob thought before slamming into the wall. He was able to see that his window was closed on time so he prepared to brace himself. He fell onto the fire escape, and opened his window. Luckily it wasn’t locked but to be fair his window didn’t even have a proper lock, only have a broken broom stick to jam in their to hold it closed. He went inside before looking at his open computer which had still not been, touched since he activated the A.I’s protocol. He’s revisited it tons of times, but it’s true activation has not been going smoothly. He couldn’t even tell what was wrong with it besides the lack of performance that the laptop could control, He wanted to move it to his new desktop, but not wanting to wait longer he led it continue, but his knew that his patience wouldn’t be able to handle much more waiting. He peeled his suit off, hiding it in the rafters of his apartment, and wore the clothes he wore on his date.
“Well I guess it’s time to eat again.”
