Prologue

Wind whistled through the air and a low rumble of thunder echoed as dark clouds loomed over head. The rain poured down, pattering on rough hewn stones, water cascading down the castle battlements, grey stone cracked and aged. And faintly over the roaring of the wind, the sounds of battle could be heard. A resounding clang reverberated out as two swords connected, two warriors their faces hidden, one wearing a knights helm of red metal, the other covered by a travel worn hood.

Suddenly with devastating speed the Red Knight interlocked his blade with a strong downwards strike with his foe, cunningly kicking the hooded figure straight off the castle battlements! A gasp come for the others who despite the viscous weather had stopped their hunting of the dead that roamed inside the castle and instead saw a blurry figure heading straight towards the ground.

But to their surprise the hooded figure turned mid-air violently reaching out with a gloved, no mailed fist reach out to the rough stone wall of the castle, slowing his descent slightly. Then with one more display of acrobatics he leaped off the castle wall to crash painfully into a tall dead tree, its snarled branches reaching for the sky, and serving as an effective way to slow his descent.

The hooded figure had reached the bottom of the tree stood tenderly to his feet and miraculously still holding onto his sword. But before any of the spectators could ask just what in Storvos’s name was going on, the Red Knight landed with a large bang at the base of the castle courtyard wall.

Gleaming runes appearing on his crimson armor as he began striding towards the hooded warrior and for the first time the spectators herd the knights voice, low and gravelly and filled with contempt “come on spell sword is that all you can do” saying nothing the hooded figure also began moving towards the knight his own sword shining as a bolt of lightning crashed nearby. And as the thunder rumbled again, the two fighters attacked
