Unfortunately for Blake his parents had invested their entire sizable fortune as well as taken out a serious debt to develop a new type of medical research, which could have theoretically saved many lives, and also made his parents filthy rich. However with the deaths of his parents no firm had guiding the research.
inevitably in a team built on money things fell apart, rapidly funds went missing and accusations of corruption began to spread as the rather selfish scientist squandered the funds invested in their research, as other parts were syphoned off further to fund other projects as flaws appeared in the initial research based.
In a matter of weeks Blake saw his entire family efforts destroyed and he himself was far to young and grief stricken to attempt to gain any money back. From there Blake found himself, at the tender age of seventeen and a half burdened in debt. Even after the house and everything inside it, including Blake’s brand new VR casual was sold, Blake still had to pay of a sizable amount of debt.
(at least for a 17 something kid who hadn’t finished high school and had never had to work for money in his life)
For 3 1/2 years Blake worked like a dog, to pay of his debt and over that time, the Blake changed, becoming unrecognisable from his cheerful trusting high school self, the numbness that invaded him on that fateful day never left, his hair grew longer, hiding his face and a bleak brooding feel settled around him like a cloak.
At 20 years of age Blake was despite the cold that sounded him and lack of friends, trust etc etc. Physically Blake was fitter than ever before, this being due to an early realisation in life after the deaths of his parents, that the best way of moving and surviving was to set goals, which was exactly what Blake did.
Goals
-pay off debt
-finish high school (Blake meant to take his final exam)
-Get into university
-stay healthy
Below these main goals Blake had put another title, something that had occurred to him when he impulse bought a guide about Archon online a VRMMORPG that he had started but never been able to really play.
Whims
-play Archon Online
-celebrate birthday
-have desert once a week
Blake had decided in his cold logical way that he would only follow through with his whims when he had accomplished his goals, and at the age of 20, and a half Blake had, at long last achieved them all.
His University course would start next year and he had finally payed off his long standing debt. In order to accomplish this impressive feat Blake had worked 5 jobs while still studying and exercising, sometimes going days without sleep or food, slaving away with a relentless determination. But now he had achieved his goals and today in his tiny shitty flat, The Archon online capsule had been installed.

Archon online had come out not long before Blake’s, black day had occurred and he had eagerly played and played the first virtual reality game ever. Recently however Archon online had undergone a truly massive way spanning the two discovered continents. Even a rouge GOD had descended to wage war, this insane conflict killed massive amounts of players and NPC’s alike, before the war had ended with the rouge God being sealed by the high priests of the six major gods, and an uneasy truce being brokered between the two mighty alliances that made up the war.

This huge event had changed the landscape tearing down kingdoms and creating new ones, while leaving vast tracts of land uninhabited by player or NPC alike. Creating a new and revitalised game. Making Archon online undeniably the first and greatest of all virtual reality games.

As Blake logged in he heard his old user name and cringed slightly
“Request name changer and appearance update”
Archon online did have a function of name change and appearance update. Though Name change as its name suggest allowed the user to change their name, it required a hefty price. To change your character’s name it makes a character to lose all skill proficiency until the next lvl e.g. 78% going back to 0% And worst of all when a user changes their name they lose all fame.
Fame is an invaluable resource in Archon online, it was hard to raise and easily lost. But the benefits of fame were unreal; a player with even a decent amount of fame would reactive better prices and would be able to gain quests with less intimacy and at high levels allowed a user to meet with powerful NPCS like kings or archbishops.
-user Storm sword, do you wish to change your name?-
“yes”
-Please input new name-
“Althorn"
-Name accepted resetting skills and fame-
-User Althorn would you like to update you appearance?-
Updating your appearance was another option of Archon online, however to activate this function you have to have chosen you real appearance and not have player for 3 years. And furthermore the price for updating appearance was to lose your familiarity will all NPCS making you completely unrecognizable! More than that, to update your appearance it also means that the user has NEVER been chaotic. You also must not have any quests that involve people or time limits.
“yes”
Althorns face changed, boyish and tan his skinned paled and his features gained a harder cast, Black hair lengthening covering his face. While his body structure changed muscles becoming more defined, Althorn was reflecting his RL body wiry and strong.
Suddenly a piercing howl echoed out and a huge wolf leaped out.
A Dire wolf, a creature with an average level of 70 to 80, narrowing its eyes it glared hungrily at Althorn. Before he had stopped playing all those years ago he was at lvl 50 in a zone weaker than him. But it appeared after the long war that this zone had become far more dangerous. Drawing his sword Althorn faced the ravening dire wolf, this he thought will be a tough one.
Then the Dire wolf leaped.
