Noticing something wrong with the fight, Krog asked, “What is wrong with Hein? Why is he so tired? Did he not sleep properly yesterday?”
“No you big ape! He is poisoned! He might die if the fight continues!” I exclaimed
“…Then stop the fight! Simple.” He said in an innocently stupid way.
“You- Wait! That might actually work!”
I turned away from the stage and faced the king. Then I ran full speed towards him as I activated my speed enhancing spells; lesser speed, and wind magic. What I discovered in my attempt to be faster than Hein’s sword during our training yesterday was the wind magic is the most useful type in order to go faster. But the spell to do that is very complicated! First you have to create the absence of air particles behind your body. In order to do this, you can shape the mana in your body to form vortexes that suck away the molecules of air into a very compressed layer of high pressure wind around your body, or part of your body. It also turns out that wind magic is one that is the simplest to learn from all other elements, since it does not have a specific mana type. It’s just plain-old mana from your pool. Simple! Anyways, after compression, there is a vacuum formed behind you, which will cause the air in front of you to be pulled behind you before it comes into full contact with your body! Before more air collapses into the new vacuum formed by the air in front of you moving behind you, you must use mana perception, and find biggest lumps of mana in the air. Lastly, you have to release the compressed air in shots, targeting these mana lumps, causing the mana-dense air to become lighter, and therefore easier to shape when it reached behind you. This is reduces the air resistance from about 20 times that of Earth to about the same! Isn’t that cool?
Anyway! I reach the king’s balcony on the arena’s upper floors within 4 seconds! Now, I AM SPEED! I asked to meet with the king from below, and was immediately granted.
…
After explaining the entire story to him in short, that the match needed to be stopped, or else Hein could die, he agreed.
“Stop this match at once!” The king demanded and all excited voices instantly calmed down, including the sound of battle. Hein was now on his knees, gasping for air, while the shitface Joester was just standing, waiting for Sake’s approval to restart the beatdown.
“This match will continue after half an hour! You may begin your break!” continued the king as he sat back down, in an awe-inspiring show of dominance and his complete demand for respect attitude!
Hein sagged onto the stage and Joester was speechless at the turn of events. With a few signs of relief on my face, I quickly make my was to Hein. On my way, I could see Sake, who was all smiles? Something was wrong, and I needed to fix it!

Reaching Hein, I first changed my vision to only see between 30 petahertz to 30 exahertz (x-ray vision. It is what I use for a lot of medical information, and to spy on others!). Fortunately most of his injuries were flesh wounds and none of his bones were damaged. That would take a lot longer to heal. Next, I controlled the natural mana in the air to slowly enter his body and come 0out before being sucked into his mana pool. This way, I could use them as ultra-sound using mana super-enhanced mana sense. It seemed like some of his organs were slightly damaged, but some healing mana could fix it. So that is what I did. However, his complexion was growing worse the more healing mana entered his body! I knew it. This is why that Sake was so confident. His poison must be able to grow stringer form healing magic! Wait! Mana! Something that can use mana must be mana or have mana! The poison must be mana poison! But that hasn’t even been developed yet! Why is it here? It has to be something else! I was supposed to be developed in 19, 921, when the princess of the Krothgaurd had died from this very poison. However, it was not even developed until 3 years later, when another assassination attempt on the second prince was thwarted and a bottle of the poison was recovered from the assassin. It was later discovered that someone within the nobles of the kingdom was developing said poison, and almost all the existing nobles were removed from power, and replaced. The poison itself was banned throughout the kingdom, and anyone found in possession of it would be killed on the spot, without exception!
Wait a minute! Could it be that the poison was developed this long ago, and the assassinations were planned out slowly for this long? Could it all be from Sake’s family, the Som household? That must be it. If so, then I can’t reveal the existence of the poison to the world, or else the future may change, and I wouldn’t be able to predict a lot of the future events. But first, I need to fix Hein’s deteriorating condition. I quickly collected some external mana (Ambient mana in the air), and then extracted all of Hein’s remaining mana, instantly replacing it with the little mana I collected from the air. That would suffice in keeping Hein alive while I deal with the poison in my left hand. Now with all my focus, I scour through Hein’s mana in my left hand, until I find a fleeting shadow of an unknown mana type. This is it! Shadow mana, not to be mistaken with dark mana. It erodes away at most other mana types, and grows stronger from light mana. That is why is has its formidable reputation of killing its victim no matter the level of healing magic used, because the more magic used, the stronger it gets. The only way to cure the poison was discovered by a shadow specialised mage, who received a 1000 reputation for the task.
The way to cure the poison is to keep the shadow mana as your mana perception focus, and slowly extract the normal mana furthest away from it, and collect it in another hand. Following this method, I was able to collect 80 % of Hein’s mana, because the rest had already become shadow mana. The amount of poison entering his body was so less, and yet the effect was so brutal. I see to have underestimated the severity of the poison!
Anyway, I replace the external mana keeping him alive with the recovered mana, and colour returned to his face within seconds! Taking a sigh of relief, I looked at the shadow mana, trying to escape the prison of condensed mana I created. It looks like a slippery mass of black, with distorted lines between when it ends and my mana barrier begins. Now how do I deal with it?
