“Ah, Jon my boy, is your mother, by any change Lady Sylvia?” asked the king with politeness never before seen!
“Yes he is my son Erigor, his name is Jon, and he isn't your 'boy' ” said mom with a cold voice. What was with this attitude? Was mother in a position to look down on the high king?
…
After a brief pause, the king’s emotionless face morphed into one of happiness and joy. What was this? Why is the king acting to courteously with mother? Could it be because she is an archmage? Or because she is part of the college? Wait, now that I think about it, the human mage next to the king is only level 8! And as far as I remember, that is how strong NPC humans could get. However, other races, like elves could continue to become archmages. This had to do with their lifespans.
A human could live up to 150 years, and some mages could go a little further, to about 200 years. However, elves can generally live upwards of 400 years. Some royals can even live for 600 years! In general, the lifespan of the denizens of this world is far greater than on earth. Maybe it has something to do with the gods, or maybe something to do with mana? Anyway, it seems like the longer you live, the more complex spells you are able to learn, and the higher your level. As far as I can remember in the lore of Divinity, The only human to live past 200 was the hero Arechimis, who was also a level 10 mage and lived up till he was 400 years old. And so, the limit for humans, who can live at a stretch, to 200 years, can become up to level 8 mages.
Aha, so she should be one of the strongest individuals in the kingdom, and belongs to an organisation where the most powerful mages reside, and were created, the college of Descite! Wait, then does that mean that I could have just told my relation with mom, and the whole thing would have been breezed over?
“Jon my boy, there seems to have been a misunderstanding.” Said the king after having a brief chat with mother.
“You seem to have suffered a lot, and so for compensation, I would like to provide you with a the title of Baro-”
“Ahem, his age?” intervened mom, clearly ordering the king to do this correctly.

“Hmm, I would like to, however, since you are not yet of age, this title will be permanently reserved for you, when you turn 15. At that point in time, you can chose to either accept or revoke this title. Again, I am sorry for the unfortunate events you had to go through, and the city lord’s title will be given to someone capable, so you don’t need to worry about that.”
“Hmm, thank you high king.” I said unconsciously, trying to understand what exactly my mother told him that he gave me such a large title. The title of baron is second to only the royal family, which includes the king’s personal family, as well as the dukes. In the game there was on duke to the in-game king, which means that there shouldn’t be any dukes currently. Therefore, it means I would be only inferior to the king and his family. Now that is interesting. Plus, I get to rule over the territory of around 1/10th of the land in Krothgaurd. This means I would rule over several city lord, and could speak to the king as one close to his level, since he also owns 1/10 of Krothgaurd, and leaves the rest to us Barons and Dukes.
“You will also need a territory to rule over, hmm, which territory should I give?”
“If I may, your majesty?” I asked
“Hmm? Go ahead.” Said the king with a hint of interest.
“I would like to rule over the territory of Wintershire in the south.” I said, with an evil smile on my face. This territory was unowned by any Baron or Duke in the game. It was only until the third update in the game, that a newly appointed Baron was forced to take over that region, since all other regions were taken over. While excavating, he found two important things. One is that he found out the what lay under most of his region was a soul crystal mine, as the entire region was at the centre between two large soul veins; one from Dryadalis, and one from Zarmentos. The other thing he found was that the soil could itself held a peculiar quality to absorb mana. This mad it excellent for anti-mana weapons, and mana dampeners, both of which could effectively render mages useless, and the sole reason why the class of mage slowly died out. It is also the reason I am not only training mana, but also my body, to be able to wield sword and protect myself in such situation. If I can get my hands on that territory, then I could effectively control the sale of such materials!
“Wintershire, the frozen wasteland? Why would you want to go there?” questioned the king, with looks of confusion, along with everyone in the room who knew what and where Wintershire was. Even mother was confused, and was about to tell me to change my decision, when someone in the crowd said,
“Wintershire? That would be a perfect fit for someone like you! Just like your bloodline, Wintershire is a barren place with no noble origins! Haha” exclaimed the man.
