Burst of wind snapped through the church, the communal chairs fragmented as Hazel counterattacked with balls of flames. Speeding up like a bullet, Hazel unleashed a barrage of fireballs.
However, Alexandris evaded as the wind continued to pick up. It swept through the winding hallways that blocked exits from the church.
Arise looked around, he projected phantom apparitions of pillars where Hazel was. Using his Erudition, Theory of creation. His ability carved through the pristine floor of the church it reconstructed itself onto the apparitions and formed a perfect pillar that blocked the wind bullets. The exchange of blows illuminated the church, the candles snuffed as the moonlight pierced through the stained window.
Orange flares occasionally escaped the cracks of the church. Hazel ran and fired at Alexandris.
"Why did you help him? You're supposed to help father." Alexandris picked up the pace, he dashed as the veil of wind protected him from Hazel's potent magic.
"Ask yourself, why are you helping, father when he's clearly at the wrong?" Hazel's voice was shaky, she squirmed her lips as she did not want to engage a battle against Alexandris, but her brother was hellbent on doing so. Was it glory? Duty or acceptance? She did not know, Alexandris always deflected these kinds of questions ever since they were a child.
"...Hmp" Tempest of wind whirled, whisking Hazel in the air and pinning her on the wall.
Her body twitched as the dull feeling festered in her body.
Hazel wheezed as she conjured a twenty sided dice. "You won't even answer me."
"Dice, answer me, let this outcome be in your hands."
Hazel wound her arms up then released a tempest of flames. Alexandris backed off as the flame ravaged the cathedral.
"Arise, get her out of here. Run to Mel, I'll hold him in." Hazel commanded. Arise scrambled to get the woman, he dragged her on the main door as Hazel's flame tempest blocked the wind burst.
"Hazel, be safe."
Hazel nodded, she faced Alexandris as Arise left the premises of the church. The flames scorched as the bullet of sweat formed on their foreheads. The dice plunged to the ground and landed at 18.
Hazel smiled, as flames flared on her fist and broke through the firewall, straight to Alexandris and his wind spell vanished as it came into contact with Hazel's fire fist.
"Fire blitz!" The embers crackled as Alexandris propelled through the air. His clothes blazed as the fire ate him like an animal.
Thud!
Alexandris stood up, his legs wobbly like noodles. His skin was scorched, the red painful rashes spread through his arm. He breathed heavily like he was running a marathon. He glared at Hazel, the wind imploded on him as the flames were snuffed like candles.
"S-so… that's your answer, Eruditions… blasphemous abilities."
Dungeon Master, an Erudition that allowed Hazel to change the outcome of her actions based on the rolled dice. Depending on her rolls, it could be favorable or a disaster.
She ripped the fabric of her dress, she threw it on the burning pile of wood as it filled the church with the aroma of burning cotton.
"Enough is enough, I don't want to hurt you. Stop this nonsense." Hazel stood above the scorching hot flames, dancing, embers fluttering like butterflies.
Hazel tossed another dice and rushed to Alexandris.
Thump! Hazel's punched impacted through Alexandris as he blocked.
Thud! Alexandris threw Hazel across the church as the wind whirred.
Pwshh! Alexandris releaseda wind slash onto Hazel, which she dodged hurriedly.
Then, Hazel swiftly unleashed a barrage of punches. Alexandris, one by one, blocked it as he charged the wind blade in his back.
The fair lady noticed the accumulation of energy behind Alexandris and protected herself. Aetheric energy flooded through Hazel's arm as it hardened like stone.
A shrill of air slashed between Hazel and Alexandris. A gaping slash cut through the statue of the faithful god and the communal chairs. With her one foot, she propelled herself backwards, then mid-air she plunged her foot as it blazed.
He blocked it again, he countered the attack as he wound his fist on Hazel. However, Hazel quickly retreated as she left a trail of embers in her wake.
Hazel was eyeing the dice falling down. As it hurled through the ground, Hazel parallel her hands, channeling the energy, her hands moving like fluid. "Gabriel's flame"
The flames shrieked as the ball of condensed flame fed on the air around them.
"Hah, that spell? Do you think a simple light spell could defeat me? Hazel, don't underestimate me." Alexandris released a whistling slash through the church. Hazel jumped out of the way as the floor fragmented from the air slash.
Gabriel's flame was one of the most basic light spells an igniologist could cast. By compressing the flames on a single point, it conjures a ball of flames that could illuminate an area that was similar to a candle. However, unbeknownst to Alexandris, the formula for this spell was different from what he was used to.
The copper glow set the cloth banner ablaze, the commoners woke in the dead of night as they witnessed the church on fire.
The dice landed in 20.
Before Hazel could unleash Gabriel's flame, Alexandris unleashed a faint slash barely in Hazel's direction.
In retaliation, Hazel sidestepped and released the flames. However, she realized after she released the flame.
A feint attack?
Her action of dodging consumed the perfect dice outcome…
Her eyes widened as wind tendrils penetrated through her body. Droplets of blood dripped on the wind tendrils, splattering on the ground, her face was filled with shock. Gabriel's flame fizzled as Alexandris casted his spell release.
"Spell Release: Ventus Alis Lampiris." A carapace of wind formed as the tendrils slithered outside the elytra. Alexandris employed the attack mode of the Spell Release.
Blood sputtered from Hazel, breathing heavily as Alexandris's footsteps echoed in the church. Her eyes were foggy as blood dripped from her lips. She resigned on moving, it seemed like this was her final frontier… She could not even save Alexandris from her father…
She clenched her bloodied fist as tears welled in her eyes.
"You relied too much on your Erudition, when will you learn?" The wind tendrils intertwined with each other, forming a pointed edge and wound up against Hazel.
"I really do not want to do this, but Father said I need to kill every opponent… I can't disobey him." His voice was shaky, his hand twitched at that thought of killing his sister.
"So, Goodbye, Hazel. Please forgive me."
Before the wind tendrils reached Hazel.
A voiced roared outside the church, she casted: "Spell Release: Syzygy of
Hydrology" Her footsteps echoed as the water from air formed into a small droplet suspended midair
Water droplets compressed onto itself. In a blink of an eye, it slashed through Alexandris's Spell Release, it burst like a balloon. The footsteps grew louder as the woman entered the church.
Her face accentuated by the moonlight, her purple hair tugged against the wind under her pointy hat.
The water sickles revolved around Mel as she smiled at Hazel. "Looks like I made it in time."
She walked inside the church. Her smile was filled with dramatic flair.
She approached Hazel, who laid in her own pool of blood.
"Oh, My lady Hazel, it seems like you've backed yourself in a corner. Would you like your big sister to help you?" She smiled slyly, while gauging her distance against Alexandris. "You don't need to answer, I'll help you regardless." The mature woman stood taller than the nobleman. She drew from a bottle with a clear liquid from the bag, it was labeled as vodka. The crown of the bottle was smudged with lipstick as she drank the spirit in front of Alexandris.
"Kahhh! That hits the spot." Mel exclaimed, then her amber eyes glared at Alexandris. "What do we have here?"
Water sickled closed her gap Mel, it orbited like planets as she stood with her chin up.
The white moonlight shone through as her lipstick glistened with a crimson hue. She gestured the sickle, the water projectiles responded in accordance to its orbit. It revolved around her as if she was the sun. It accelerated, stop then continued revolving around her.
"...More insects after another… What are you doing here, Manic Alchemist?" Alexandris held his head up, his voice boomed with superiority. The ventus alis lampiris's wind tendrils regrew like vines.
"Hmp, you impertinent fool. You clearly do not respect the ones above you."
"What for? Should I bow to fossils like you? "
"Ah- It seems like you haven't been beaten enough as a child to learn respect, let's change that." Mel laughed derisively. She lowered her hips as she took a stance, her aetheric energy flowed gracefully,

Alexandris's twitched in anger from mocking. Rumbling like a storm as the wind around him became turbulent.
"Heh…"
Mel clutched her ring, her fingers fueling the catalyst with aetheric energy. The ring acted as a buffer as she prepared to usurp a burst of energy inside her body.
His spell release acts like my Syzygy of Hydrology… It's fast, I should use this and stall time.
Inside, was the nervous system, energy accumulates within the central lymphatic system. Swirling chaotically, squeezing the particles of energy until it was forced to fuse to each other. The resulting fusion created a burst of energy that exploded into a fractal inside Mel's body. Arcing as it surged through her nervous system.
She gestured, twisted her body as she pressed her thumbs against the third joint in her finger. With a devious smile, she muttered. "Spell Release: Bhavishyat Inversion"
Originally, that surge of energy would tear the mage from inside out. Blazing them with an unquenchable thirst for death, their skin being pricked with trillions upon billions of needles. Bleeding from any orifices until their humanity devolves them into an unintelligible garble of flesh.
That's what spell release was, however. This principle could be overridden. As the mage's talent in equilibria increases, their connection with the aether increases as they become proficient with their language.
Hijacking the massive energy burst inside their body- into a powerful magic that could often be called an ultimate move.
As Bhavishyat Inversion was casted, ethereal vines festered around the church. It could not be normally touched, it could not damage humans as well. It collected energy from its vines as it prepared for its buds to bloom.
Bhavishyat, meaning what to come. It was a widely held belief in the Marusthala region that the world was in a tight balance between a void and another world they called the 'future'. It was often represented by lilies and celebrated as the festival of what to come.
It was a fascinating concept, Mel was entranced by the meaning.
Alexandris released a barrage of wind blades at every conceivable direction. Whistling as it tears through the castle. The vines remained unharmed as it latched onto the walls.
The water sickle orbited according to Mel's instructions. Changing the axis of revolution or it's orientation on the plane of space. Arching, whistling, glimmering in the air lit by the orange flame of the burning cloth.
Woosh!
A wind slash hurled through Mel, she smiled as the water sickle slashed the magic orb of purple wisp. Floating harmlessly like a firefly.
The blast of air boomed through the church, Alexandris propelled himself to Mel. The nobleman hurled through the air, seeing Mel's attack rushing towards him, his wind tendrils latched on the metal chandelier of the church, pulling him back. Mel unleashed an arcing water sickle on where Alexandris used to be, she smiled as she held onto the water sickle and elevated herself.
Look how cute he is when he's angry.
Pwshhh!
Kaboom!
Each release of the explosive wind bullet was countered by Mel's spell release.
Alexandris gritted his teeth as he realized his disadvantage.
One, Mel's active spell release 'Syzygy of Hydrology'. The water sickle acted as Mel's limbs, slashing everything in its way. In essence, it was like Alexandris's Ventus Alis Lampiris.
Second, Bhavishyat Inversion. The spell release Alexandris puzzled him the most. His wind tendrils phased through, like it was a ghost. Nothing could attack it, but it benefited Mel in some way he could not explain.
He buried the wind tendrils beneath the ruined floor of the cathedral. He uprooted the ground, crumbling it to oblivion, debris of rocks, small and big sprawled into the air as the dust settled like fog. Mel grabbed onto a water sickle and propelled herself again.
Unable to see what lay within the dust storm, she gestured the water sickle onto the plume of dust as it slashed aimlessly.
Where is he?
Mel scoured the immediate area. She propelled herself as she grabbed on an incoming water sickle.
Suddenly, Alexandris melded all eight of his wind tendril and fired it at Mel. "Spear of Quintessence!" Like a speeding bullet, it pierced through Mel.
I-I did not see that coming!
Crimson blood drew from Mel as the piercing pain jolted through her system. Her hand hovered over her stomach and smiled. In response, one her sickle retreated. It arced and gaped the wind spear away from Mel.
"Hah… Impressive…" Mel commended Alexandris, as she continued to evade Alexandris's relentless barrage of spears. Dodging gracefully, as if Alexandris was targeting a single blade of grass that stood motionless on a field. Evading his attack.
The vines radiated pure bright light, the flowers bloomed into ghastly pale lilies.
Mel danced gracefully against Alexandris's slash and attack. Dodging as she anticipated his attacks.
Alexandris suddenly released a wave of explosive waves. Mel already ducked before the wave even reached her. The walls of the cathedral crumbled. The cracks festered until the roof collapsed.
Mel slashed the falling debris into fine dust as she stood in the moonlight.
As the dust settled.
Alexandris watched as he stood below Mel. She was illuminated by the ghostly moonlight of the first moon, Luna. And the second moon, Remuria shone its beams of ozone-hued moonlight along the duchy of Rosea.
She basked in the gentle moonlight, her skin kissed by the cold wind. Many of her sickles evaporated into nothingness. Her voice echoed in the Calica district, as the people emerged from the dust of the cathedral, wondering how it collapsed in the middle of the night.
"Admirable, but not your intention but your techniques. Your father thought you well, but I won't entertain this any longer. This foolish scuffle needs to end. Because-"
Her hair fluttered in the breeze, her pointed hat was nowhere to be found. She spoke with vigor, not because she respected Alexandris, but because they had managed to demolish whatever they made. But Alexandris could not comprehend.
"Between the two of us, throughout heaven and earth. I alone am the honored one." Mel pronounced.
"Shut your trap!" his voice roared within the ruined church. He could not explain the insurmountable amount of rage he had in his soul.
Alexandris flung himself like a catapult, with his two tendrils drilled on the ground.
Her lips propped into a smile. Hmp, admirable… like a puppy.
Under the moonlight, the clash between the wind tendrils and the water sickle flickered. Both were breathing heavily, exhausted as the aetheric energy degraded their body into the brink of fatigue.
Exchanging blows, breaking into pieces. The fight lasted for more than it should be.
Then, like a snake, Alexandris pierced through Mel's defenses again. Her eyes gaped open as her concentration faltered. She gripped the wind tendrils and crushed it with her bare hands. The tendrils shattered like a clay pot.
All of her water sickle fragmented like glass. She breathed heavily as if an anvil were dangling on her lungs.
Alexandris smirked, he pointed at her. With his tattered clothing as his voice held high. "So, where's the mighty manic alchemist? Out of energy?"
"Ugh… I said don't call me that." Mel glared.
The wind rushed beside Alexandris, his wind tendrils melded together, rearing to plunge into Mel's flesh. Bloodthirst overflowed as he laughed maniacally.
"Hah… foolish."
The vines materialized as Mel allowed it to be touched by anyone.
Mel leaped from vines to vines as she narrowly dodged Alexandris's wind spears. Calmly veering to her side, calculating the amount of time Alexandris spent on moving alone. The vines solified from its ghastly apprearance as she held onto it dearly. Finding Hazel's unconscious body, scanning the collapsed cathedral
All she needed was liquid, but she had drained the liquid in the air. Everything was extremely dry. Except Hazel, who laid over a puddle of blood.
"Aghh, why won't you die!" Alexandris screamed, rage seething under his skin. Aimlessly unleashing his attacks everywhere. Mel flashed him with a derisive smile.
Her eyes shone through the night, the lilies replaced her irises. The vines formed into a pale white handle that resembled the texture of wood. Hazel laid within the pool of her blood, it trembled as the blood coagulated into a droplet and congealed into a sharp edge.
Oozing as it dripped on its way to Mel.
It attached to the vine handle as Mel replied. "Experience, boy. It accumulates into usable tactics and wisdom, you can't hurt me."
Wielding a scythe forged with the blood of Hazel, the moonlight pierced through the crimson haze, festered by the blood red hue of the moon. Her laughed echoed, laughing as if she had already won
